Adrien: Comfy.

I wore this last week on a day when my goal was comfort. I think it's funny that some folks think they can't be comfortable and well-dressed at the same time. It's a completely doable goal! Look how freaking cute I am! (Just kidding.) But seriously, squishy ballet flats, a roomy top, stretchy cropped pants? These are all comfortable things without being sloppy.

Add a trench coat and a ridiculous scarf and you're good to go:

We will all just please ignore the fact that everything I'm wearing is, in fact, cropped. Oops.

HALLOWEENER.

M: In honor of the pending spooky holiday, I present:

A: What does HALLOWEENER mean?

M: I am talking about his weiner.

A: perhaps HALLOWEINER then?

M: WELL OKAY.

A: I AM LITERAL.

M: FINE.

A: GOD.

M: CAN WE GET BACK ON TASK?

A: Yes! To task. The true deliciousness of Johnny Depp. I deeply love him here:

M: Oh, Edward. Makes me teenage loins quiver with angsty longing.

A: And! It only got better. I mean, dude:

MY REWARD FOR BEING AN ADULT.

M: Oh, TRULY. I even found him appealing as Sweeney Todd, because I am that devoted:

A: This is where it all started for me:

I actually remember the very first time I ever saw him on television. I think I froze in place like a pointer.

M: For me it was this:

I can't stop staring at him. Oh my god!

A: Ooooh, Sassy Depp. Sweet baby Jesus.

M: YES. This was my First Depp!

A: A girl always remembers her First Depp.

Marianne: Dumb.

I completely forgot that I owned this skirt. I bought it in May for $6 at the Gap, stuck it in my closet (because it's wool), and promptly put it out of my mind. What's sad is I've been coveting the J. Crew City Mini for a while now, and was seriously about to pull the trigger, when I found this skirt. It's not identical, but it's a similar length, cut, and material. At least I didn't buy the J.Crew skirt.
You already know that I don't do skirts well, so this whole outfit is kind of out of my wheelhouse, but I still dug it. I was feeling pretty darn cute until my mom asked if I was wearing a skort. SIGH.

Adrien: My kind of dress

I pulled out the last of my winter things over the weekend and found this dress. It's cheap, odd from the back, and I completely love it. The weird pattern includes colors I love (grey, teal, blue) so it's all very Garanimals. Easy! (Okay, I probably could've added a belt or something, but whatever.)

Trend Alarm

A: She just tripped it:

image: http://trendycrew.com/

M: No.

A: I'm pretty sure she's got it all represented here.

M: Those shorts. THOSE SHORTS. ThOsE ShOrTs.

A: I think hiking them all the way up and belting them really brings out the pleats.

M: I would say something about FUPA but it's just not proper.

A: Those shorts are. UP. IN. THERE. Yay fashion!

M: I think that belt is working as a bra.

A: Do you think she has a checklist? Like:

1. leather shorts. Check.
2. FUPA. Check.
3. Giant belt. Check.
4. Statement Bag. Check.
5. Leopard bootie shoe things. Check.
6. Ombre hair. Checky check check, bitches.

M: Don't forget:

7. Red lipstick. Check.
8. Arm party. Check.

M: Also, I, um...like her hair.

A: Oh, her hair is definitely pretty, it's just a lot of trends all at the same time. Really, the shorts are The Issue.

M: Those shorts are a war crime. Obama just ordered their evacuation. God, I don't even know what I am saying any more.

A: Ugh, again? I just got comfortable.

M: Don't Google leather shorts. Just...don't.

A: OH MY WORD.

M: I had to stop before I get fired from LIFE.

A: I just got word: Obama has fired you. Please leave.

M: Damn it, THERE GOES MY VOTE. And I am allergic to the Tea Party, so what now? Why is this a political blog now?

A: I LIKE PRETTY THINGS. BAGS. CLOTHES. STUFF. LA LA LA

M: God, THANK YOU. Let's get back to the important talk about how the Twitter says I should do this to my hair. The Twitter is a bad influence.

A: Girl, do not ombre your hair. You will be full of regret.

M: But but but!!!

A: You have beautiful hair AS IT IS. Trust me on this.

M: Surely you aren't suggesting that the Internet would lead me astray?

A: The Internet lies ALL THE TIME.

M: The Internet just told me that Tony Danza died!!!!1!

A: Wait, did he ombre his hair? SEE.

M: HMPH.

Marianne: Campfire Girl.

Last weekend I was invited to a really gorgeous dinner party, a "fall party" with fire pits, roasted meats, s'mores, the whole nine yards.
When I came out of our room after getting dressed, Chris said I looked like "a Campfire Girl". Um...okay. I think he meant that as a good thing.
And yeah, I am totally trying to approximate this photo. The sweater's not quite right, but it's so cozy that I wore it all weekend. Go Target.
The shirt is also cozy, but be warned that it runs incredibly small. I mean, I expect to size up with Junior's sizing, but I'm wearing an XL here and it's a close fit.
This outtake is for Adrien. She knows what it means.

Adrien: Working with Veronica

So, I got these awesome boots and I think they'll be great with skinny jeans, that's a no-brainer. My struggle is how to wear them to work. I think pairing them with tights is key because otherwise it's just too...casual? Weird? Too something.

I started with my usual dress 'n cardigan combo, which, while not terribly exciting, seems to work okay:

I love the boots with my trench coat the best:

Marianne: Predictable.

Surely by now, you've figured it out. If I am selling something, it means I have something I want to buy. Fashion Math, you know. So yeah, I sold my black bag, which was great, but didn't have a strap length that worked for me, and I bought this.
It's the Marc Jacobs "Mag Bag" in fool's gold, and once Adrien showed it to me (and, duh, it was a screaming deal), I was pretty much done for.
I thought I needed another black bag, but this color is so fantastic. Sometimes it looks gold, sometimes pewter, it is dressier than my Su-Shi bag and goes with everything. It's my new neutral bag.
The outfit is unremarkable. It's freaking cold suddenly and I am not ready.

Adrien: Blargh, This Weather.

Fall is my least favorite time of year to dress myself, except for maybe spring. So indecisive! It's cold and hot and maybe rainy a little. And then hot. Then cold-ish but humid. And that is just ONE DAY. It's cold when you leave the house and by lunchtime are all, "why the hell am I wearing this coat? And boots? UGH."

Yesterday was the last nice day before the gloom and rain and cooler gross temperatures hit, so I decided to wear something daringly not-very-fall-like:

This dress has the habit of being a bit Too Much for work so I threw a baggy mess of a cardigan over it and that seemed to take it down a notch:

Overall, I was fine with this and felt pretty cute. The end.

Purple Drank.

M: Gwyneth is pretending she drank Bartles and James in her youth on Twitter. It's adorable.

A: She is Gwyneth from the block.

M: She's just folks.

A: I'm surprised she hasn't done a GOOP in which she tries to convince us that some $800 bottle of sparkly wine reminds of her of her good ole B&J days.

M: Duuuude, this Chateau d'Yquem totally reminds me of putting Jolly Ranchers in my Zima! Ah, good times, good times.

A: Leggings as pants! She is totally just like you and me! If you and me wore LEGGINGS AS PANTS:

M: I am not going to lie, if I had her figure I would probably just walk around naked all the time? Especially with Mark Ruffalo.

A: Seriously, right? She looks great there and he is also yes.

M: Sometimes I think I was meant to have my not-perfect figure (which OH MY GOD, I know is totally FINE and I LOVE MY BODY and BLARGH), because my brain won't allow for common decency otherwise.

A: I totally understand. Ten years ago I was a size two for about five minutes and I wore the MOST inappropriate things.

M: It's really for the best that I was at my thinnest while grunge was still a thing. I did get pretty tiny around my wedding, but I was all wrapped up in that and never really took the opportunity to see what pasties feel like.

A: Pasties? What?

M: I don't know, man, the universe works in mysterious ways.

Marianne: Dancing Shoes.

This dress is great, but I feel like I am constantly struggling with how to winterize it. The sleeve detail means shoving a lot of fabric under a cardigan, as evidenced below.
Okay, not that obvious, but it felt all bunchy and wrong. Do you have any dresses that you can't wear a cardigan or jacket over? Do you just relegate them to your summer wardrobe, or what? Most importantly, do these look like ballroom dancing shoes? They do, don't they.

Adrien: Comfort Zone

If you've been checking out the blog for a while you might have noticed I'm not big on button-up blouses. (Or maybe it never occurred to you which is totally valid because why the hell should you care if I don't do blouses?) But! I will still tell you why. It's mainly because they're a harder fit, usually require ironing and ugh, I don't know. It's just not my thing. But, there are always exceptions! Always.

I wanted something loose I could wear with skinny pants or jeans and I found it at Old Navy, of all places. Probably won't last forever, but it got me out of my comfort zone and I'm pretty happy with how it looks in the photos:

We Are Slightly Less Creepy.

M: Have you seen the shirtless photos of Mike Chang from Glee? Because I had to race to IMDB quicklike to make sure he is over 18 because lord I felt DIRTY.

A: I have not!

M:

Source: http://www.tomandlorenzo.com

M: For the record, he is 29.

A: OH MY GOD.

M: RIGHT?

A: SERIOUSLY. WOW.

M: The race to make sure I wasn't any creepier than usual gave me a little adrenaline rush. Whoa.

A: Well, I mean, come on. There is no way he'd be doing shirtless photos shoots if he was under age. Right?

M: I am not so sure about that.

A: I'm trying to make you feel better.

M: I don't want to feel better. Anyway, if this is wrong I don't want to be right.

A: Well, and moot since he's a full adult person.

M: A full adult person who can crack walnuts with his abdominal muscles.

A: That must come in so handy at Christmas time.

A: I will also admit that I'm watching (the truly dreadful) show Terra Nova because the producers realized their greatest asset was Jason O'Mara's abs.

M: Please hold whilst I Google.

M: Oh, indeed. Does he have an accent? He looks like he'd have an accent.

A: Irish! But they make him use a stupid American accent on the show which is disappointing.

M: That is a travesty, right there. Here, he brought you a cupcake:

A: OH. HAI.

M: This has been the best day.

Adrien: More Magic Stuff.

I got a phone call from Nina that went something like this:

Nina: I'm at Target and they have the brown print Magic Target dress in your size marked down to $5. Do you want it?

Me: YES.

I probably don't really need three versions of this dress, but hell, $5? That is a steal and I think the brown print will be easy to wear into the fall. I also recently bought the J Crew locket necklace I'd been eyeing for a while. It was not on sale, but I couldn't stop thinking about it and I've worn it every day since I bought it. So, outfit:
