Confession time: I love shapewear.
Okay, maybe that's not much of a confession. After all, I like to joke that I am Southern, and Therefore I Girdle. Even so, shapewear sometimes feels like a dirty little secret, all bandage-y and quite possibly the opposite of sexy.
So, with my love of shapewear out in the open, it should come as no surprise that when I was approached to review the new line of shapewear in Rachel Zoe's "Major Must Haves" from Jockey line, I leaped at the chance to try it. Sure, Rachel Zoe is super slim herself, but she dresses women every day and I love her personal style, and I was dying to check out her "Major Must Haves" from Jockey. Who better than a stylist to the stars to understand that you can be wearing a high end couture gown, but what really matters is what you have on underneath it. Do you know what I mean?
Unpacking my new goodies, my magpie eye was immediately caught by the cute patterns and colors on the underwear. I was especially charmed by the diamond print on the bikinis. But let me cut to the chase: you are going to want to get yourself about a dozen pairs of the Microfiber Boyshorts. YOU GUYS. These are not only adorable, they are made from the most magically thin and silky material, they stay put, and they don’t pinch my, ah, soft spots. UNDERWEAR TRIFECTA.
But you really want to hear about the shapewear, right? I received the Strappy Tank, the Tummy Short, and the Slip Shaper. The Strappy Tank was very similar to a Yummie Tummie® tank, soft cotton at the top and bottom, with a wide control panel that smoothes the waist and torso. The Tummy Short is more like traditional shapewear, but in a nice soft-to-the-touch cotton finish. I felt like I could have sized down to get more control, but this would be a great option for someone who just wants light smoothing.
In this picture I have on both the Strappy Tank and the Boyshorts.
My favorite product by far is the Slip Shaper. I have never found a shapewear slip that I liked. They either catch on fabric, causing it to ride up, or the slip itself inches up and ends up in a roll around my waist. Not cute, y’all. This slip has this sticky gel substance around the bottom of the inside hem. At first I was a little wary of it, but it truly makes it stay put and made me fall in love with this slip.
Overall, I was very impressed with this new line from Jockey, especially since the price points are so much more reasonable than some other lines. Rachel Zoe’s “Major Must Haves” from Jockey are available now in major retailers, Jockey outlet stores, and on Jockey.com. I'll be stocking up on those boyshorts for sure!

ReplyDeleteI've recently tried shapewear, and it was really uncomfortable. Would love to try some of these options. I have some dresses, that need it!
ReplyDeleteI definitely wish I was wearing shapewear today in the Kohl's dressing room. I was trying on a really cute ponte-knit dress, but it did not look cute sans-shapewear. I had to pass it up because I didn't know if it would work for me.

I wish I'd been wearing shapewear at the last military ball I went to with my husband. I'm older than the enlisted soldiers' spouses, and I hate feeling like the grandma in the room when I'm only 32. Plus, as an officer's wife, looking put together is pretty important. I'm not sure if I would have *looked* much different, but I would have felt a lot more confident.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was the matron of honor at my friends' vows, I wish I'd had these shapers to help. I remember I picked something frumpy and over-sized because I didn't feel I looked good in my 'nice' clothes due to pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteI could use shapewear under all my clothes post pregnancy now that nothing seems to fit right!
ReplyDeletesuch a cute look!:)

I wish I had been wearing shapewear at a wedding I attended recently! My dress was slim but not tight and a little bit of slimming shapewear would have been great!
ReplyDeleteI pretty much wish I was wearing shape wear all of the time!!! I think I will want to wear it on my first cruise this December. Thanks for a chance to win and have a great day!
ReplyDeletekmassmanATgmailDOTcom
Basically every day that it's hot and humid outside and I'm wearing a skirt, I wish I was wearing shapewear of the thigh slimming variety. I have also never found a shapewear slip that didn't completely suck, so you have me pretty intrigued here (I thought I was the only one who ended up with the stupid thing bunched around my waist and therefore shaping NOTHING).
ReplyDeleteI didn't wear shape wear at my wedding, DUH!

I once went to a wedding and wore a very slinky dress. I was pretty young and fit at the time but shapewear certainly would have enhanced my assets.
