Weekend Window Shopping: Let's Take A Walk.

Marianne and I both have embraced the pandemic winter walk. This is not a casual stroll, this is an existential need for movement-based endorphins. Go outside, get some sunlight in your eyeballs, break a sweat. I promise it makes everything feel less bleak. If you need inspiration, here's my ultimate urban hike collection:

  1. Since I have come to depend on your suggestions (COS tee I'm looking at you!). Those Airpods? Best purchase? My problem? Tiny ears. I have a problem with any and all pods falling out: walking, running, riding, etc. The rest of me is not tiny. Just my ears. What do you think? I understand you cannot guarantee anything for itty bitty ears. Just askin'

    1. While I can't promise they'll work for you, I will tell you they come with three sizes of silicone tips so you can customize the fit.

    2. I am a tiny ear person as well! I searched earbuds for small ear canals and found a pair on amazon that works for me...in one ear. Apparently one ear is even tinier than the other :) I also just ordered a bluetooth eye mask with speakers and realized I can wear it more as earmuff/speakers for my walks!! Solidarity!

    3. I washed my AirPods and then accidentally ran one over with my car, and couldn't swing replacing them at the time. I ordered a pair of Tozo-T6 earbuds from Amazon out of desperation (I have a cube neighbor who sings all day long.) The Tozo's come with different sized tips to customize, and some of them are TINY. Way tinier than the AirPods. And the sound quality is Very Good.

  2. I too am a big fan of the brisk pandemic winter walk - so essential and invigorating. I'm also a fan of those Target mittens, which I probably found though a previous recommendation from you :) Warm but light, and I love the flip top option.

I have a question about those On shoes you show, as I need to upgrade my walking shoes. Some of the Zappos comments suggest they are a bit narrow - has that been your experience. (My feet are wide so if they tend on the narrow side, I'll have to keep looking.) Also wondering how you like the unique soles. Thanks!

    1. I'm glad you like the mittens! They are surprisingly good. As for the On shoes, I have a love/hate relationship with them. I had a pair of the On Cloudflyer (a different style than what I linked) and found them lightweight and comfortable. They didn't run super narrow for me. However, I found that the split sole picked up rocks and sticks and whatnot really easily, which is super annoying.

    2. I have the On shoes and don't find them narrow at all.

  3. I know it wasn’t the focus of your highlight, but dang I want those Varley snakeskin leggings.

  4. I need to start walking again. I came back from a trip to Walt Disney World and whoa did I feel the effects of two sedentary years. It's just so cold.
