Review: Grayson The Artist Short Sleeve Dress.

So, you know how certain things just follow you around the internet, taunting you endlessly? Oh, you're on Instagram? HI IT'S ME!!!! THAT DRESS YOU LIKE! Oh, now you're on Facebook? HERE I AM AGAIN. Ugh, it's stalker behavior and it totally works. Anyway, there's a certain little linen potato sack that's been teasing me for weeks - the Grayson "The Artist" short sleeve dress. At the time I ordered, it came in five colors. I ordered the green in medium (my usual size) but was a little worried because so many of the reviews claimed it ran big.

Um, it does not run big. Obviously I carry my weight in my midsection but this dress is supposed to be a sack and the medium was...not kind to me. I returned it and reordered in a large in the blue because the green was sold out:

Despite my deep irritation with the not-at-all inclusive sizing, this is a GREAT little dress. The fit is very comfortable (once you figure out your size) and I love that it doesn't button all the way down. No button gaping! I'm 5'5" and it hits me just above the knee so it's flattering but isn't so short I have to worry about my underwear. The tumbled linen is soft and weighty and the color is beautiful. I am super happy with it overall. Linen is a choice but it's washable and a natural, breathable fabric so I'll just deal with the wrinkles. (Get a steamer! I love mine.)

Here's a better look without my phone in the way. Unfortunately, the blue and the green are both completely sold out but sizes do pop back in, so keep an eye on it if you like it. It's currently in stock in pink and white and also comes in a long length, with more colors available. If you're tempted and want a discount, please use my link for $30 off your order (full disclosure: I get some kind of credit or points or something? Unclear.)

Because I'm fully that old lady, I was like, which Birks to wear with my new linen potato sack? My silver pair are basically perfect with this blue, though I think my Madewell leopard print sandals would also look good?

I decided my Clare V Midi Sac would pair nicely for an extra color pop and it does! ALSO, Nordstrom Rack is giving an extra 25% off select clearance which makes the leopard Midi Sac $95! (You have to be logged in and put stuff in your cart to get the extra discount, just FYI.) GO GET IT.

I'm still wearing that vintage turquoise necklace my mother gave me because I love the summery feel of a muted indigo blue with bright turquoise. I linked a few similars last week but here's another nice option if you're looking and a cheap' n cheerful faux option

Before I re-ordered my dress I went looking for other options which I thought I'd share because why not? Banana has a very cute kelly green option, Gap has some good options that keep selling out on me, J.Crew has a really good one (on sale!) and I love the utility element of this dress from Michael Stars. But, let's face it. This one at Eileen Fisher is pretty much the best of them, right?

 It's happening, isn't it.

  1. You look amazing in that dress. I love it. Unfortunately, at 5'8", I'm afraid it would be a little too short on me and, I think, the long is, like, too long. Have been on the hunt for a shirt dress exactly like what you're wearing but 3-4 inches longer. Enjoy it!
