Adrien: Fall Wanty.

So, I've finally given in and accepted that it's fall and as the temperatures begin to change I start to find new holes in my wardrobe. A list begins to form. A long list. dang it.

The first thing I realized is that I have a lot of dresses, a few pairs of pants and almost no skirts. The skirts I do have are of the pencil variety which is fine, but sometimes you just want something you can breathe in, you know? So I'm thinking maybe something fuller, like this one from BR:

Check Pleated Full Skirt

Cute, right? Maybe? No? Hard to say. Definitely not with those shoes. I'm also eyeing this adorable Boden number:

Alice Ponte Skirt

But color block or plain navy? I don't knooooow. I really, really want a Boden kilt but I'm not sure I can pull it off. (Can I pull it off?) There's also a denim circle skirt at Anthro that I've got my eye on:

Maeve Denim Circle Skirt

I've got fall boots covered already, so I'm good there. What I'd really like is a new pair of flats since I tend to wear them a lot until the weather gets truly cold. I've been wanting a metallic pair and LOVE this gold pair at J.Crew but they're a little beyond my budget right now. However, this pair from Madewell is verrrrrrrry tempting:

Metallic Lydia Flat

I don't currently have a nice metallic flat and they'd go with everything! So cute with dark denim. (Update: I just bought them and so did Marianne. 30% off the sale price!) SPEAKING OF DENIM. Marianne's patchwork LOFT jeans went on sale and sold out pretty much immediately. Now they're suddenly back at full price which makes me MAD so I'm thinking maybe these from BR instead:

Distressed Skinny Ankle Jean

They're the darker wash version of my favorite pair and fingers crossed that they fit the same. I dig them. I still want the grey jeans but I'm waiting for a good sale.

Finally, I'd really love a nice warm cardigan with which I can ruin perfectly good outfits. I'm thinking maybe this one from Everlane:

The Luxe Sweater Cardigan

It's wool, so I could only wear it with long sleeves, but I'd be so warm! They also have a really lovely slouchy cashmere version that I might have to consider. I love the Everlane cashmere sweater I bought last winter.

What about you? What do you want for fall?

BUY THIS (So We Don't Have To): J.Crew BOOTS.

**New markdowns in the blog shop! Wheee.**

Whee. J.Crew just emailed me a 30% off code that works on select jackets, shoes and boots. I’ve already posted about my favorite jacket so how about some BOOTS, Y’ALL. (I think boots are my pumpkin spice latte. Literally the only thing about fall that excites me.)

The code (which is only good for 24 hours): DAYTWO for 30% off select Jackets, Boots and Shoes Plus Extra 30% off Final Sale Styles. Plus, don’t forget eBates for 3.0% Cash Back! (My referral link.)

I will admit I’m a bit underwhelmed by the “select” shoes that are on sale though I do really like the Cece suede ballet flats in this color:

Cece Suede Ballet Flat

And ooooh, check out the Field Boots:

Field Boots

Have you ever seen anything quite so perfect in a tall cognac boot? I love the back zipper. They aren't cheap but they look like tall riding boot perfection. If those are too straight laced for you, how about these kickass Biker Boots:

Biker Boot

I love the super pebbly leather and the buckles! If I didn't already have a pair of Frye Veronica boots I'd be really tempted. Speaking of tempting:

Frankie tumbled leather ankle boots

The Frankie tumbled leather boots in the desert pink color. (They don’t really look pink to me?) I KNOW these look high maintenance but the heart wants what it wants and my heart wants. They also come in black if you must be practical but that pale, pale pink? It’s freaking great. So mod! Ahh!

I'll just be over here fanning myself.

What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?

A: Nope.

M: I feel uncomfortable.

A: Tounching.

M: I seeeeeeeeeed DON’D TOUNCH ME.

A: I'm NOT TOUNCHING I'M JUST STANNING HERE.

M: I'm sorry. I can't do this. They are stressing me out.

A: They look kind of...grubby.

M: Yes, and Baby Jane over there...I AM STRESSED OUT.

A: I AM SORRY. THAT DRESS.

M: I can't. Peace out.

Adrien: Back To Work.

I'm back to work after a week off and it's a little bit of a shock. You mean I can't wear that same pair of jeans and a t-shirt every single day? Real clothes? Well, dammit. The weather is dreary and I just needed to be comfortable so I am definitely not as office appropriate as I could be. But still, not terrible:

This Fenn Wright Manson silk blouse came from Marshalls (or TJ Maxx?) back in the spring. I don't generally buy much silk because I'm lazy about dry cleaning, but the print is so pretty and it reminded me of the beautiful Joie silk blouses I'm always pining over. If silk isn't your thing, Lucky Brand always has a few cute peasant-style blouse options.

Again with the Cluse La Bohème watch and Beaded Cone Pendant Necklace, I know, but both are so good. I've been wearing them a ton.

I feel you buddy.

Daniel was having a morning too. It's impossible to see the details, but I promise the pants I'm wearing have some! They're the BR Sloan-Fit moto pant from last fall and they were a great purchase. The updated version are definitely tempting me though I wish they had back pockets. And ooh, the Sloan-Fit in cobalt is definitely cute.

snacks?

Speaking of cobalt, my bag is MBMJ and provided a needed bit of cheerfulness this morning. Do you have a blue bag yet? This MBMJ hobo is a gorgeous color and this French Connection bag is a perfect bargain choice. My shoes are metallic classic TOMS and they are so ridiculously comfortable, I totally get why all the kids love them. The metallic makes them a little bit less casual, right? Maybe? Lie to me. If I got another pair it would definitely be this cute print. Or maybe the ikat? Oooh, leather. I am losing my mind.

Weekend Window Shopping: Distressed Jeans.

Obviously Marianne and I are both currently obsessed with distressed/patched jeans and we want you to be obsessed too. (NO PRESSURE FOR SERIOUS.) So, here are some options for you to consider. So nice of us, right?

BUY THIS (Because Marianne Did): LOFT Patched Jeans

M: I got jeans from LOFT that I expected to be a total disappointment and they are cute and flattering and a size smaller than my usual. Win.

A: Yay! I always forget about LOFT.

M: Oh, it’s really good now.

M: Impossible to take a pic:

A: CUTE

M: They are super flattering.

A: I shall go to LOFT.

M: These:

Relaxed skinny jeans in patched dark indigo wash

A: I WANT

M: There I go again.

A: Jerk.

M: Sooorrrry

M: I mean, they are good, right? I’m baffled. They should not be so good.

A: They’re really good!

M: You just like seeing my butt.

A: This is true.

M: I guess now all I have left to do is fold that jerk basket of laundry leering at me.

Dana. Dana, Dana. Can I talk to Dana?

A: Should I buy this?

Taylor Fit and Flare Dress

M: THERE IS NO DANA ONLY ZUUL

A: That isn’t actually a deterrent for me

A: I keep looking at it! I am in it’s thrall

M: This is how it starts

A: So, yes?

M: It's very McQueen

A: Are you the Keymaster?

M: I might be Dozer. Or the Stay Puft Marshmallow man.

A: Nope.

M:

A: Who is this? How did you get this number?

M:

A: So, you don’t like the dress?

M: It's not my style but I think you could work it.

A: I’m not sure, but I can’t stop looking at it. If you stare long enough you can see a sailboat.

M:

A: Awwww, that just made my day.

M:

Adrien: Casual, Like.

This is a pretty basic weekend outfit, but it's my favorite kind of basic:

I'm wearing a navy silk top that Marianne gave me. I think it's MaxStudio. I can't find it online but this Joie top is a slightly fancier version and this Joe Fresh top gives the same look at a ridiculous price. I'm carrying my MBMJ Too Hot To Handle Hobo but I've had it on the blog so many times I didn't bother to get a good photo.

I know I keep rattling on about how much I love these Banana Republic jeans, but man I just love them. There's so soft and really comfortable. I wish I could wear them to work! I'm tempted by the darker wash version too.  I wear my red Lotta From Stockholm clog sandals a few times a week. They were definitely a good purchase.

I'm wearing one of my other happy BR purchases - a scarab pendant necklace. It's sold out but this Lucky Brand version is really cute and there's a fancy one over at Anthropologie that I can't stop checking out. Obviously still wearing the hell out of my Cluse La Bohème watch. Sometimes I even remember it can tell me the time!

Daniel says hi! He thinks maybe I have snacks in my bag. I don't, buddy. Sorry.

Review: Rachel Zoe Fall Box of Style.

Ah, the Rachel Zoe Box of Style. Marianne has been onto this for months when I was still wasting my time with lesser box subscriptions. I finally caved when I saw the sneak preview of the "hero" item in the fall box - a beautiful rose gold CLUSE watch. I'd been considering buying a watch for fall and this was just the push I needed. We texted about it a lot:

M: BOX OF STYLE SHIPPED.

A: WHAT.

M: Just got the email!

A: I haven’t yet.

M: Come oooooon.

A: I haven’t looked for spoilers.

M: There are none other than the watch.

A: Good! I want surprises

M:  Me too. She’s hard core.

A: She doesn’t pander.

M: Nope. No early boxes to blogger, nada.

A: WHERE’S MY SHIPPING EMAIL, ZOE.

Cluse watch, Miansai cuff

M: Rachel Zoe all up on my wrist.

A: YES.

M: I can’t get over that all my favorite things came from her.

A: I know. Everything about her should irritate me but she knows stuff. She just has the magic touch.

M: I love her. I can’t help it.

A: She’s my favorite kind of cray.

M: Me too.

I finally got my box much to my delight (and Daniel was happy too):

(not pictured: the fedora)

And here's what I think: Just the watch alone? Totally worth it. Everything else is gravy. The box contained:

CLUSE La Bohème rose gold watch with two straps ($132 value) - I LOVE the watch. Marianne loves the watch. We love the watch. Two different bands make it really versatile.

One Love Organics Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum ($39 value) - I was initially disappointed because I got this in a Popsugar box and never opened it. I mean, body serum? We have to serum our body now too? But, I finally caved and tried it and it smells really lovely. It's a very nice body oil full of antioxidants that sinks right in. I will grudgingly admit that I was dumb to doubt this product. It's really nice stuff.

Sloane Stationery Custom Set of Notebooks for Box of Style subscribers ($40 value) - Notebooks! So deliciously analog! I love them.

Topshop Fedora ($48 value) This was kind of a fail for me. I just look derpy in hats like this and it's most definitely NMS:

Of course Marianne looks crazy adorable in hers:

(My fedora is up for sale in the shop in case anyone is dying for one! It's a nice hat, just not for me.)

The Laundress Fabric Fresh Classic Spray  ($8 value) I don't generally use stuff like this but it smells nice. I might use it.

SHASHI Noa Climbers –  $55 value. We both love these earrings. They're also rose gold colored which is a nice throwback to the watch. They're tiny and delicate and just so pretty.

So, yay! I really think Rachel Zoe knows what she's doing with these boxes. The cost was $100 and retail value of the box is well over $300. Definitely worth it. Get $10 off! If you're tempted to sign up for the winter box click on this link to save $10 off your first box! (That is a referral link, by the way.)

Weekend Window Shopping: MOAR BOOTS.

M: Know what I need? I need cognac leather flat booties. Specifically THESE:

& Other Stories Buckle Ankle Boots
M: Which FOR SOME REASON don't come in a 7.5. 6.5? Yes. But screw the poor 7.5-ers. Help?

A: Dang, that is NOT COOL. What about these?

The Darrin Boot

A: And this is mean...but Frye:

Frye Dorado Jodphur

A: WAIT. Be still my heart:

Frankie Ankle Boots

M: The J.Crew ones are a little too simple for me THE MADEWELL BOOTS THO.

A: YOU ARE WELCOME. (I will take the J.Crew boots.)

M: And they are 30% off. Dang.

A: *drops mic*

M: I mean damn that's $67 off AND they take Paypal. Done.

A: Yay! That was easy. I have two pairs of Madewell flats and they're super nice.

M: YAY BOOTS.

A: The best part of fall.

Cute Boy Friday: Check In with Beckham.

I thought to myself recently (like I’m sure all of us do) "I wonder what David Beckham's been up to lately?"  Turns out he’s been signing deals to wear way too many clothes:

And also making Anna Wintour smile. She's giddy, you guys! Practically hopping up and down:

He’s also been pretending to ride a motorcycle for Belstaff:

And posting all serious-face with his new olde timey haircut:

Annnd, posing in his underwear in some factory:

BECAUSE WHY NOT.

Adrien: Boden Milano Dress, Finally!

Soooo, hey. Remember back in April when I finally bought the Boden Milano dress and promised to post an outfit the following week? I never did because the weather turned warm and stayed that way and what can you do? But this week I finally pulled it back out and I'm happy to report that it's still good times:

It's super comfortable and hangs really nicely without stretching out. It's still available in a few colors and sizes but unfortunately the black/grey/white version is long gone. There's also this very similar Boden knit dress which I'd buy in a second if my size was in stock. And this new one has promise with the same sort of colorblocked black/grey/ivory colorway!

I'm carrying my new Cambridge bag (20% off right now!), which I reviewed earlier this week. For a similar look this Susu bag definitely has the right color and hardware. For a bargain pick, Forever21 has you covered. A lot.

Details! I'm wearing my Giles and Brother hook pendant which looks to be sold out but they also do a railroad spike pendant that is really cool. I also think this Madewell pendant has a similar look and weight. (And on sale!) My watch is CLUSE La Bohème and I've been wearing it daily since I got it.

I'm not sure if my shoes were the best choice with this dress but I loved how the greys work together and the gold buckles play nicely with the gold hardware on my bag. They're old Chie Mihara Serpans and I don't know that there's anything really similar, but these grey Chie pumps are pretty fly and ooh, these ankle boots with the buckle!

That's the outfit! I can't wait to wear this dress with tall boots and a scarf. Actually, yes I can. I can wait. (Summer 4ever!)

BUY THIS (So We Don't Have To): J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket.

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with my olive (or as J.Crew likes to fancy it, mossy brown) Downtown Field Jacket and I will wear it until it's sad and dead. I love it. And I am absolutely gnashing my terrible teeth over the new color:

Ugh, I'm such a great color.

I WANT THAT. But I have one already and two seems excessive. I've seen the burgundy version in person and I can attest that it's really, really good. Sigh. Adding insult to injury, code SHOPNOW will get you 25% off full-priced items (plus 3% cash back with eBates.)

To further enable: the code makes this the perfect time to buy something J.Crew does right, like funky earrings or a ridiculously cute cobalt leopard print blouse. Or maybe we should be practical about this. I mean, could your cardigan collection be tighter? I know mine could. And how are you on striped sweaters with leather detail? JUST ASKING. Sheesh. I don't judge.

Tom Ford Presents: Concealer in Three Acts.

Act One:

M: I read this and it kind of blew my mind (+ made me want that stuff of course.) I've always been told use a shade lighter under eye but it makes so much sense to use your foundation shade on the puffy part to make it recede. I brushed a little of my Smashbox foundation on the puffy part of my eye and did Bye Bye Undereye on the dark part and it looks better. Not perfect or anything, but better.

A: Now I'm all, like, Hmmm. Tom Ford Concealer. And Corrector.

M: I know man. I'm sorry.

Act Two:

M: I got the Tom Ford stuff. Even though I did what they told me to I feel like the darker shade is too dark. I'm going to exchange it. I think you would like the correcting pen, though.

M: Left concealed, right no.

M: I think the puffy eye concealer is too dark.

A: Ooh, that looks good!

M: It does not BUDGE.

A: Dang. I might need the correcting pen.

M: I like it a lot.

A:

Act Three:

A: I have ordered that fancy Tom Ford correcting thing. *waits impatiently*

M: Oooh I hope you like it.

A: I went looking for it at Saks and they didn't have it, but tried to sell me Clé de Peau like I’m some amatuer.

M: They marked you as an easy target.

A: I NEED CONCEALER THAT IS MAGIC. GIVE ME MAGIC.

M: I MEAN LIKE LEGIT CATE BLANCHETT ELF MAGIC.

A: HOW MUCH. I WILL PAY ONE MILLION AMERICAN DOLLARS FOR ELF MAGIC.

M: Is that too much to ask?

A: I mean, it shouldn't be. Make me glow, makeup bitches.

To be continued...

Review: Cambridge Satchel Company Twist Lock Satchel.

A few weeks ago I bought the Cambridge Twist Lock Satchel in medium. I wanted to carry it a few times before reviewing because it's not a good review without a test ride.

I chose the twist lock style mainly because, while I love the look of the traditional buckle style satchels, I knew the second or third time I had to one-hand-struggle-open those buckles I'd want to set the bag on fire.  I'm willing to put up with a little bit of inconvenience in the name of style, but man, I hate struggling for my keys. I was originally considering buying Marianne's Cambridge bag because I do like a push lock but the minute I saw the twist lock I was sunk. Sunk! It was The One. So, I ordered and once shipped it arrived lightning fast (seriously, they overnighted it for free):

I'm not generally a monogram kinda person but they were offering free embossing the week I ordered and I am so glad I went for it:

It's mine now! FOREVER.

In a word: Perfection. The leather is thick, the hardware is quality, and it's just flawlessly made. And the color! Everything I want oxblood to be. A stylish young man working at J.Crew asked me if it was Mulberry and I had to resist lunging across the counter to hug him all crazy-person style. NO SIR NOT MULBERRY BUT THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Ahem.

Basically just like Mulberry

I waffled back and forth between this one and the large version but in the end what I wanted was a smallish bag and I think the size is perfect. Because it's a small bag without much give, I thought I'd show you what I can fit in it:

I have a small Lesportsac makeup bag, my Jonathan Adler coin pouch, sunglasses in a dust bag, compact, and hairbrush.  I've also discovered that I can shove my Kindle in there too, but it's a tight fit.

In the small front pocket I can fit my keys and cell phone. So, just the essentials, but with a little planning (and a new little wallet pouch, though don't think I wasn't tempted by the Cambridge version) I am pretty happy with what I can manage to fit. It's really nice to have a tidy little crossbody and I've found it to be very good for weekend outings, shopping trips and the grocery store.

In case you missed it, I've posted outfits here and here with the bag so you can see what it looks like to scale and all that.
