Outfit of the Day: Good and Simple.

Sometimes I get dressed in a pretty basic way but everything works just right and I think, this is exactly what I was going for. I mean, honestly, who knew that a simple black sweatshirt would be exactly the thing? Check it out:

This little sweatshirt is the Super Soft Fleece Crew from Quince and it's great. It has a slightly shrunken fit which I love because it's just right- not sloppy or oversized. I also like that the black is very saturated instead of the faded black you often get. I also have this top in gray, which I wore here. They have a French terry version as well, but I haven't tried it yet. I've been really happy with most of my Quince purchases! If you're tempted, get $10 off your first purchase with my link. (Full disclosure: I also get $10 credit.)

I'm wearing my Madewell boyjeans which are just so good - just the right amount of slouchy and they cuff really well. I got my pair secondhand but these look good and I posted this pair yesterday as another tempting option. Details:

I really do love my Day Glove Flats from Everlane (though I'm still mad at Everlane.) There isn't much that's similar but these Josef Seibel flats have a buttery leather look and this pair from Miz Mooz looks good as well. My bag is a Marc Jacobs quilted Single and it's fun to carry like a book. For something similar, this Carvela bag is still $56 y'all, and this little quilted Minkoff bag is also very cute.

I'm wearing my Madewell necklace set, though often I just wear the horn pendant. They have some cute options right now including this set with three chains and this sweet beachy set that's on sale!

That's it for today. Another day of killing it in the style world with my groundbreaking look of jeans and a black top. Heh.

Buy This: Oops, Real Quick: Madewell Sale!

I was going to post an outfit today but then Madewell was like, "ummm, extra 30% off sale with code PSST!" And I was like, OH NO. Then I bought some sandals before I even knew what I was doing. (So cheap, though!) No surprise, it was this pair that I've had my eye on:

I think for $35 I am more than willing to give them a shot and hey, they aren't Birkenstocks, so that's something. Here's what else I would buy if I could:

These are the only cut-offs on the Madewell site that appeal to me. Dig that longer inseam.

I love this light and airy Marianne-style dress! This would be so cute with my new sandals.

Madewell keeps making jewelry that looks like Calder mobiles and I am here for it.

Okay, these are just SO GOOD. I am really loving the boyfriend/straight leg styles at Madewell.
I want all of them, thank you.

The first step is admitting you have a problem. I have a striped tee problem.
However, this one is a linen blend which makes it totally different from my other striped tees.

I do have a couple of these and they're great! So easy, so so so on sale.

I am excited about big bags again! This canvas tote one is so perfect with the leopard print trim.

BUY THIS: Because It's Stalking Me.

Do you guys have a million screenshots on your phone of the tempting things that stalk you across the internet? Just me? Huh. Maybe it's because I'm constantly searching for things to post (to tempt you if we're being honest) and somehow it always, always backfires into me wanting things because they freaking STALK ME. It's so rude. Here's what's been following me lately:

Okay, this damn Seasalt swimsuit has been EVERYWHERE lately and I'm definitely tempted. It just seems so flattering and I love the strappy look from the back as well. It comes in fun colors but I'm boring and really like the black version the best.

This Stio jacket is SO CUTE and even though I am not sure this is my color, I still dig it.
And of course it's on sale now because OF COURSE IT IS.

A podcaster I like was recently raving about this product (one of those, not-quite-a-foundation glowy things) and y'all, I want to try it so badly. Does anyone use it? Love it? Hate it?

THIS DRESS. I haven't been into Banana Republic for a long time but this is from BR Factory where they are apparently hiding all the cute stuff. I mean, how good is this floaty little dress? It also comes in a dark pattern but I really like this lighter version. So summery.

This sling bag is meant for runners but while looking for something to wear for hikes it suddenly appeared and has been a-stalking me everywhere. It comes in solid colors but I love this fun print.

Oh cool, The Laundress has a fancy candle with notes of eucalyptus, thyme, rosemary, lavender, and amber. COOL. I totally don't want this at all even though it's everything I love. COOL.

GUESS WHO. BR Factory again. I'm not sure about the sleeves but oh my god who cares. I love the print and it just looks like the perfect thing to wear with cut-off short. Sigh.
I also really love this one and HOW IS THIS HAPPENING.

You click on cute clog sandals ONE TIME and they are in your internet life forever. These are MIA and I adore the natural leather because it's so much warmer than plain white.

I'm go to take a break from the internet, maybe.

Weekend Window Shopping: Who Needs a Crossbody Bag?

Longtime blog reader Leandra recently posted in the comments that she was looking for a new crossbody bag. I mean, challenge accepted, right? I combed the internets in search of some fun-but-useful options. Here's what I like:

This Anthro sling bag comes in a bunch of colors but I kept coming back to this dove grey because it's so unusual. It's also surprisingly affordable.

This J.Crew bag is kind of expensive but... just kidding. THIS IS A TARGET BAG. I was debating posting the J.Crew version but decided it was too expensive and then found this! SO CUTE.

This coated canvas bag from Cole Haan comes in a few colors but isn't this blue combo amazing?
It reminds me of a Liberty print and it's very on sale right now.

This excellent leather bag is by Frye and comes in three colors. This just seems like it the kind of classic, vintage-style bag that will only get better with age.

This beautiful Hammitt bag follows me like a creeprr around the internet. It comes in a bunch of colors and finishes but this woven version is very summery and appealing.

This is your classic J.Crew camera bag but it's classic for a reason! I love this super neutral sand color for summer. It's simple and will go with everything.

This Madewell bag is a great larger option (because maybe you want to carry more than just the essentials!) It also comes in more colors but I love the black/white combo here with the woven strap.

Y'all know I love a red bag almost more than anything. This NR bag is not messing around and would elevate any outfit with a pop of GODDAMN THIS IS RED.

This looks kind of fancy but it's H&M! It's bigger than it looks, which is a nice change from all the teeny-tiny crossbody bags I've been seeing.

Finally, I just cannot say enough good things about the Lo & Son Pearl bag, which I've carried more than any other bag in the past year. It's the perfect size, has great organization, and it takes to fun straps really well. Plus, it's 40% off right now and comes in a bunch of good colors. Go for it.

Outfit of the Day: It's a Rental

Marianne recently signed up for Rent the Runway and she was having so much fun wearing fun designer rental dresses that I was influenced and signed up too (using the Bad on Paper code BOP for 40% off 2 months.) I'm still working remotely I don't really need much in the way of nice clothing but I thought it would be a fun way to challenge myself and try some new styles. This is definitely not going to backfire with me falling in love with things I can't afford. Nope, no way. Here's what I rented for my first go-round:

This is the Manzanilla top from Apiece Apart and when I first tried it on I was like, I don't know about this. It's smocked and ruffled which isn't usually my thing but it fit so nicely that I ended up wearing it three times. You can purchase items from RTR at a discount but this must be newer because they're only offering 10% off, which makes it still too expensive and fuck you, RTR. I am taking this personally. It's nearly sold out in the world (a few sizes here) but this other Apiece Apart top is lovely and has a similar vibe. For something similar, I love this Loft top and this one is cute too, with the smocked neck. For a cheap-and-cheerful option I love this deeply discounted little top from Ann Taylor.

The jeans are AG Jodi Crop in a light wash and they were fun (I wore them a couple of times) but I sized up and definitely shouldn't have. These jeans have a lot of stretch and I easily could've worn my usual size. These are still available here and also come in some other good washes. Super comfy and I am very into the cropped bootcut thing right now! I also love a lighter wash for summer.

Oh yeah, this is my favorite rental and I haven't sent it back yet. I just LOVE a red bag and this one is so good! It's Rebecca Minkoff and I might just end up buying it down the road. It's a good size - big enough for the stuff I carry daily but not so big that it's hard to carry. I love the different leather textures and the turnlock! Also, it's just a really good red. It's sold out and only available via Poshmark and the like but for something similar, this red Minkoff bag is so good and it's on sale! I also love this one. For something similar under $60, check out this red bag at Yoox. I now have, like, ten red bags that I want. This rental thing is totally saving me money, right? Ha.

Sorry about the creepy giant pic but I wanted to show you the details of this cute-ass top that I'm still bitter about. Ugh, I love it. I'm also wearing my favorite jewelry from Three Flames Silverworks and My Precious Studio.

For my next round of rentals I'm getting a truly insane Ulla Johnson dress (eeee!), a Nanette Lepore top and a Sea New York dress. Do y'all want to see them when they arrive?

Weekend Window Shopping: The Holiday Sales Loom.

It's that time of year when all the things I've already bought go on sale just to show me what an idiot I am. COOL COOL COOL. But, maybe you have more restraint and have been waiting for just the right sale? Here are some of my picks from the sales going on this weekend:

Anthropologie is offering an extra 40% off all sale items and this tote, y'all. It me.

Avene has 20% off any $50+ purchase with code SUMMER20 and if you haven't tried the Thermal Spring Water spray yet, give it a try. Excellent for summer and great if you have reactive skin like me.

Hi, it's the Chaser hoodie and it's MORE on sale! $32 and it's such a good light layer and wicked cute.

Let's get fancy, shall we? Saks is having a designer sale and they have a bunch of
really fun Farm Rio dresses on sale. I love this one in particular. So much.

Saks Off 5th is also having a sale - an extra 25% off clearance with code THECUT and I have my eye on these Joe's Jeans bermuda cut-off shorts, naturally.

Madewell hasn't announced a good sale as yet, but my fav Whisper tee
is on sale in some really pretty colors and also...

These sandals are still on sale and still torturing me. I shouldn't love them but I really do.

I posted an outfit on IG a while ago with this top and it's FINALLY on sale.
It's just so soft and cute and I wear it a ton.

Is there anyone left who hasn't bought the tiger tee? Because it's now $19.99. Yup. It's time.

Review: Think Royln Bum Bag/Crossbody Bag

Okay, so I am not really an early adopter of trends (that would be Marianne) but I also firmly believe that if you don't try out new styles and shapes you'll end up at 49 with the same hairstyle you had in high school. Ha, but really, the way to keep your style fresh is to at least try new things even if you aren't sure they're for you. With that in mind:

This is the Think Royln Bum Bag/Crossbody Bag in black noir and it comes with two straps - a shorter one to be worn as a belt bag (I hate "bum bag" and don't even with fanny pack. No.) and a longer adjustable strap for everything else. It's got two zipper pockets and an outside slip pocket for my phone.

I am surprised by how much I like wearing it like this - it's perfect when you need to be hands-free and keep your shit secure. Here's a better look:

It's small but will hold my essentials - phone, keys, sunglasses, small wallet, and lip balm (okay, balms. I have, like, eight of them in my current bag.) I also really like how it looks as a regular crossbody bag:

Now, I know what you're wondering. Will she strap this bag around her midsection like a Thing We Just Determined Shall Not Be Named? She will:

This is how it looks with the short strap which is surprisingly short. I have it adjusted all the way out and it just fits. Not very size-inclusive at all. Luckily, the longer strap is super adjustable and it works for belt bag purposes too. Here I'm using the longer strap and have it adjusted so it sits more on my hips:

Overall, I'm delighted with this little bag and think it'll work for all manner of travel, sporty endeavors, trips to the farmer's market and thrifting expeditions. I also love that it comes in a bunch of colors and patterns. (More here.) For the rest of my outfit, I'm wearing my Madewell Cali Demi Boot jeans similar to these and silver Birkenstock Arizonas. My tee is ancient Gap Fit but this one at Athleta is a nice upgrade! My necklaces are by Three Flames Silverworks and My Precious Studio

That's it! Let me know what you think!
