Marianne: One off.

This one had promise, y'all. Sadly, exactly one picture was taken before the camera battery died.

Derp derp.

I guess it's not terrible if you excuse the accidental flash usage which kind of puts my braw on display. Anyway, dig my new (to me) grellow skinny jeans. They are pajama comfy and I am a fan. Also a major fan of this Stylemint tee, which I was looking forward to showing you more of until I had technical difficulties. It has a super cute cut to it.

Also, in an awkward segue and in lieu of more outfit photos, y'all should high tail it over to Looks Better On You. I'm selling two pairs of fancy jeans, anthropologie goods, a couple of Tibi dresses, and two pairs of Chie Mihara shoes, among other things. It's kind of a big deal.

top: Stylemint Willow T
sandals: Aerosoles (similar here)
bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs "Mag Bag"(similar color for just $25)
typewriter necklace: unknown (but very similar here)

Biggest Fans.

M: You are welcome.

A: I love sports! Its my New Thing.

M: Did you know I am a huge water polo fan? HUGE.

A: Big swimming fan. Totally.

M: GOD BLESS THE OLYMPICS AND ALSO THIS DIVER.

A: I KNOW RIGHT? But I feel like we have to talk about this:

A: Is he shaved? And airbrushed? And filtered? WHAT IS HE HIDING.

M: I think it's pretty clear what he's hiding, Adrien.

A: I mean, other than a bad tattoo.

M: I want to talk about this fancy Rowing competitor. Doesn't he look like he might be royalty?

A: I think he's trying to make us think that, anyway.

M: "Look! I have a medal!"

A: OH COME ON.  You know what sport I've been really getting into lately?

A: Canoe Sprint.

M: I just love how...fast they paddle? I don't even know. Canoes?

A: Like, little speed versions, I think? And they go fast? I don't know. I love it though.

M: I am sure that tight shirt makes him row a lot faster.

A: It would certainly make me row (paddle? whatever.) faster.

M: I'm sorry, I am back to this and lost my train of thought.

A: Gold medal! In Wet T-Shirt!

M: I love sport things!

A: With the sports! And the things for the sports!

M: Yay Olympics!

Marianne: Leopard love.

Whoops! Adrien and I were distracted by something shiny and forgot to blog for a day. I hope you all weren't too distressed. To reward you, here is an outfit I've already shown you and can't stop wearing!

But seriously, this skirt is so stupidly cute and comfortable and flattering. I pretty much have to stop myself from wearing it every week. But I do have a couple of new things to show you! Namely this super sweet typewriter necklace that I found at T.J. Maxx for $15 when Adrien was in town:
No way to take a picture of this without it being a chest shot
And also these highly ridiculous peachy glitter sunglasses, which are also from T.J. Maxx and were 9 whole dollars. I just love them and I'm not even apologetic about it.

Have you guys made any late summer purchases? It's getting to that point in the season where I'm starting to think about fall, which is probably why all I've been buying lately is accessories and makeup.

sunglasses: Nine West (similar here and here)
Typewriter necklace: unknown (but here is a similar one for under $30)
earrings: made by Adrien! Similar color here.
leopard skirt: no tag, but similar printed skirts here and here

Marianne: In My Makeup Bag

So, as Adrien said last week, we're having some fun showing you all the stuff we're hauling around in our makeup bags. But after seeing her post, I'm...a little embarrassed. I keep a lot, LOT more stuff handy. In my defense, I don't carry my makeup bag with me, and it's pretty roomy, so...yeah. That's not really a defense.

ANYWAY, don't judge me. My makeup bag is from J. Crew and it's at least 4 years old. It's a very sturdy coated canvas material that appears to be bombproof, because it looks brand new. But whatever, you want to see what's inside, right?

That is a lot! And it's not even counting the random makeup in my train case that I rarely use. And THEN, I realized that I keep a few things in my purse, namely:

WHEW. That took ten years to put together. I like makeup, y'all. Did you already dish on the contents of your makeup bag on Adrien's post? If not, spill it! Make me feel like less of a product whore.

*these where all empty/dried out, so I tossed them afterwards!

Adrien: All Of It.

It's all here. Color, animal print, heels, statement bag. I did it, y'all. I managed to get it ALL IN ONE OUTFIT. I should just retire now, huh? Heh. I've probably worn this dress more than anything else on the blog, but it just won't die. I guess Banana Republic does okay every so often.

dress: Banana Republic (similar) (another cute blue Banana Republic dress)
belt: Target (similar) (another leopard belt at Target)

Cute Boy Friday + Fashion Scavenger Hunt

M: I know we usually make fun, but ugh, I love this:

source: The Sartorialist

M: Minus the tattoo. And maybe the hat.

A: Definitely minus the hat. I am very anti-fedora unless it's Don Draper.

M: God yes.

A: Right? Right. So. Right. But yeah, that dress is 100% you.

M: I want it! The sandals too. And the bag. And the bracelets. GIMME.

A: It's all really good! I even like her tattoo but maybe not with the dress.

M: I'm just not much for the vaguely tribal tattoos. What can I say?

A: I think she's pulling it off, but not with that outfit. It's a serious problem with visible tattoos.

M: Oh, Concerned Don is Concerned!

A: I am Concerned for Concerned Don. He's taking this way too seriously. It's just fashion! Chill, Draper.

M: Seriously, lighten up.

A: For some reason, I only find Serious Don hot. Smiling Don doesn't do much for me.

M: What, he's just having some fun.

A: I do love Convertible Don. A lot:

M: Definitely the best of the Off Duty Dons.

P.S. The first of our readers to ID that dress will get...something from me. Maybe a bracelet.

A: A challenge! I'm sure someone will come through for you.

M: Aaaaaaaaand....GO!

Adrien: In My Makeup Bag.

Recently Lisa Eldridge posted about what's in her makeup bag (also this one) which is the kind of thing I've always liked because I'm super nosy and always curious about what people carry around every day. So! Since Marianne and I like to be big ole copycats, we decided to show YOU what we lug around. All of it - the shiny new and the disgustingly shameful.

Me first. My makeup bag is a Lesportsac pouch that could probably use a wash. I really like this brand because they're lightweight, indestructible, and often have a separate zippered compartment or two. (Also, you can find them at Marshalls and the like for way less than retail.)

So, here's the lot:

Also (file this part under "yawn"):
  • a spare pair of contacts, Band-Aids, allergy meds, dental floss, and a tiny screwdriver for my sunglasses that are always fucking falling apart, MARC JACOBS

That's it! What does your makeup bag look like? What products can you not live without and what do you desperately need to toss?

Marianne: Tight.

Covering the problem areas with a dumb cardigan

Ugh. Y'all do NOT start with me, because I'm not fishing for compliments, but this dress is too tight. I love the print so, so much, so when I found this BCBG dress on eBay I snapped it up. I am usually a medium in BCBG, and this dress was a large, so I thought it would fit with room to spare. Wrong!
It's worse in person, trust me
Totally tight in the stomach and hips, and not in a way that I think will be improved by losing 5 pounds. It's so flipping pretty, though, isn't it? This one might be for sale soon. Sigh.

Camp Fancy.

Hi there! Soooo, a few weeks ago I went to visit Marianne, which you saw here. Then a small group of our friends joined us for a weekend of frivolity and sangria-drinking. It was so good, y'all. On that Friday night we all dressed up and went out for a fancy dinner and the outfit photos are pretty great.

What? Not drunk. Yet.
We managed to keep it together for a group shot.
So cute! Aren't we freaking CUTE.

We are Patriotic.

A: Your boyfriend is calling:

A: He's wearing your pants.

M: That is Not Very Nice.

A: I know! He's going to stretch them all out.

M: I am ignoring you and looking at this instead.

A: I. What. Who in the. WHAT.

M: He is why you should be watching True Blood.

A: MARIANNE OH MY GOD. YAY VAMPIRES.

M: He is a werewolf. That's right. All hairy and burly and UNH.

A: OR WEREWOLVES! WHATEVER!

M: Joe appreciates your enthusiasm.

A: Seriously, this is the best Friday ever.

M: Right? God bless AMERICA.

A: *Waves a flag*

Adrien: Neutral

This outfit needs a pop of color, right? It does. But, I'm still pretty happy with it because all-neutral is a departure for me and all that. (I also have a red cardigan in my office! Please put the phone down, it will be okay.) This skirt is one I bought last summer (worn here) and haven't worn much since then for no apparent reason. It's great! Hard to walk in, but very flattering with great details.

I got pockets.

Marianne: Reality Bites.

I found this Issa dress on eBay for kind of ridiculously little money, and so I did what any normal person would do, I bought it even though I couldn't really make out the color or pattern in the terrible photos. Turns out it's covered in BOWS:
BOWS.
Bows! And the color scheme is brown, pink, lavender, and minty green. The brown, coupled with the pattern and halter style, has a definitely '90's feel to it. Like I should have been pairing it with stompy Doc Martens to toughen it up. Or something. P.S. I'm wearing Clinique's Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato. It's very good.

And yet? I kind of love it. This dress moves so nicely and is perfectly cut. The silk jersey is weighty and luxurious feeling. To make it office appropriate and to keep myself from freezing, I threw on a denim jacket. And a bunch of bracelets. And some very pink shoes. I don't know.

So what do you think? Do you agree that this dress is straight out of the '90's?

shoes: Aerosoles (similar color and style) (great hot pink platform sandal from Jessica Simpson)
bracelets: Target, handmade

What we did last week, a photoessay.

Adrien came to visit me!
We swam...er, floated.
We made very healthy grocery lists.
We tried on ridiculous shoes.
I mean, RIDICULOUS.
Then more of our friends came to town.
(P.S. We have the prettiest friends.)
And we ate amazing food.
So much amazing food.
And we played Cards Against Humanity.
And then, we rented a boat.
It was the best thing ever.
There were copious boat drinks.
I want to go back.
