Adrien: Outfit Trauma

It was one of those mornings where I just stare at my closet blankly because I have no idea what to wear. I found pants, I decided on shoes, I picked out a cardigan. But, as always, the top confounded me. (This is why I wear so many dresses, people.) Why can't I find inexpensive cute knit tops in interesting colors? WHYYYY. Life is so hard. I finally dug out some sad Target tee I found in the bottom of my drawer that put on  because it wasn't striped or black. Yay. This is what I came up with:

Not bad, but I decided I didn't like the shirt tucked in and untucked:

Which is not really better because these pants have a giant button placket thing. Ugh.

 I'm tired.

Adrien: Stuff I Like - Skin & Bones

Last year we posted a review of Skin & Bones moisturizer which I really love, though when I wrote that I hadn't yet started using it on my face regularly. I was a little wary about putting oil on my face, but I got over it and started using it as my primary nighttime moisturizer last fall. And I have to tell you guys, my skin loves it. I purchased the regular sized-bottle and in the summer it's pretty much all I need (though in the dead of winter I needed to layer another moisturizer over it.) My skin is not super-model perfect, but it certainly looks good and I use less makeup as a result. Bonus!

So, when I saw that Heidi had released a new liquid cleanser, I got all excited and asked her if I could have a sample to try out:

The samples arrived in super cute little violet bottles and I was so excited to try it. The cleanser smells just like the moisturizer - a mix of Frankincense, Myrrh, Ylang Ylang, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Cedarwood, Lemon, Rosewood and Sandalwood. As I mentioned in my last review, I am pretty scent-sensitive, but I really love the way it smells. A bit natural and spicy but not overpowering.

I've been using the cleanser on my face for about a week and so far I really like it. I only use it at night to remove my makeup and it does a really good job. It feels luxurious, lathers and cleans well, but doesn't dry out my skin. The only thing I don't love is the little black jojoba beads, but that's just a personal preference as I prefer to exfoliate as a separate step.

I've been using the moisturizer immediately after cleansing and the oil sinks right in. In the morning I just rinse my face and use my regular SPF daytime moisturizer. So far, this has been working for me really well! Highly recommend.

Just a disclaimer: This is my own personal review of a product line I already use and like. I haven't received any compensation!

Next time you see me...

M: ...I will have this on my head:

source: trendycrew.com

A: HEY! WATCH OUT FOR THAT TINY FUZZY METEORITE.

M: You could easily tell me that the photographer was throwing a pompom at her head and I would believe you.

A: It really does look like someone lobbed an ugly craft supply at her.

M: I think this would be a fun hobby, actually.

A: Regarding her pants. Bender asks, does Barry Manilow know she raided his wardrobe?

M: Bwahahaha.

A: But! I will gladly take those shoes off her hands.

M: I really don't understand the proportions or colors or anything here. The last time I felt this confused was when I read the latest J.Crew catalog.

A: Is that shade of yellow a Thing now? Because I don't know. Also: I can see her bra.

M: I think she WANTS you to see her bra. Also, countdown to someone saying that's the same shade of yellow as my beloved wedges in 3....2.....1. (IT'S NOT)

A: Ha! I know someone just scrolled down real quick to post that comment. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME COLOR COME BACK.

M: Please! There is a clear difference between my lovely, mustard-curry-yellow wedges and that baby poop blazer.

A: I THOUGHT THEY WERE OCHRE. I don't WANT to see her bra. Why does she want me to see it?

M: I am ignoring that. ANYWAY, that's her Fashion Bra, durh.

A: Ohhhh! You mean it's expensive. Fashion Math determines that if it can't be seen, nobody will know you spent $180 on a bra. Cost per view, as it were.

M: Exactly. This is pretty much the sole basis for the dumb sheer clothing trend.

A: Marianne, I hate to mention this, but I think you and she might be bracelet twins.

M: Hey, guess what? SHUT UP.

A: I was going to say that yours are cuter but I think now maybe I won't.

M: Haters gonna hate.

M: I was going to make you some BUT MAYBE NOW I WON'T.

A: I was just trying to be all half-full but NEVER MIND.

M: *hmph*

A: Don't you have some bracelets to go make?

Adrien: Casual Friday.

Okay, this was from last Friday (and today is Monday) but who's counting? I had a half-day off and was told the morning was casual dress. So, even though it was approximately eleven billion degrees out I jumped at the chance to wear jeans to work.

This pair is fairly new, acquired in my quest to only wear mid-rise jeans. I first spotted them back in June at Saks and was told, "Oh no, those rarely go on sale." Then they did, then some more, then EVEN MORE. I finally got them nearly 70% off retail. NICE TRY, SAKS LADY.

I haven't bothered to get them hemmed yet, hence the cuffing:

Marianne: Stubborn.

Okay, FINE, I keep trying to prove Adrien wrong. I think this is a better attempt at least. What do you think?
I have a little secret: she visited this weekend and may or may not have bought another denim skirt. MWAHAHAHAHAAA. (okay, it's really, really cute)

These sandals are starting to fall apart, and I will miss them.

Knoxville Bound.

A: Oh, Marianne...

source: http://justjared.buzznet.com

M: I think his bag is packed to come visit meeeeee!

A: I'm guessing he doesn't have to sleep in the dog house with the ticks?

M: Um, duh. For my husband's sake, I will make him a cushy pallet at the foot of the bed (this is a lie).

A: Wait, is the pallet for your husband or Alexander Skarsgard?

M: *whistling innocently*

A: MARIANNE.

M: ANYWAY, doesn't he have the nicest arms?

A: Oh, he has nice everything.

M: I am now just staring at his picture and have nothing to say.

A: I like that his bag is Mulberry. I like a man who likes Mulberry. And t-shirts. And stuff.

M: My husband thinks Mulberry is a bush that a monkey chases a weasel around.

A: Mine thinks it's a berry that grows in our back yard that I'll maybe make a pie from. (I won't.)

M: Stupid pie.

A: This is the only kind of mulberry pie I want:

And oops, it's NOT PIE.

M: Well, it's the COLOR of pie?

A: YES. This is what's known as Fashion Baking.

M: We studied at the Sorbonne!

A: I do enjoy whipping up a fluffy pair of pumps.

M: Just the other day I was kneading my cashmere and letting it rise.

A: Perhaps I could bake you up a Birkin?

M: With Mulberry sauce?

A: Oh my god, that sounds delicious. Perhaps Alexander will serve it to us?

M: Yessssss.

A: Can this happen now? Like, right now?

M: I think you need to come to Knoxville. I am just saying.

A: I AM. TODAY. OMG.

M: *squeaky dolphin noises!*

A: EEeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEE!!

M: We lost it a little. Ha.

A: A little. It definitely explains why we need to be together.

M: Like, committed to the same ward?

A: Oooh, do you think they'd let us? We could do each other's hair!

M: And paint our nails! Do they allow that?

A: Yay! It will be so much fu...wait.

M: There is Internet there, right? RIGHT?

A: I don't think so. I'm leaving now. See you in seven hours!

Adrien: (There It Is.)

I've worn this BCBG dress on the blog a few times and I like it. It's easy to wear and the pattern is fun. But, it has an issue. A couple issues, actually. First, it has pockets which I really need to have removed because they make the hips pooch out a bit. Not a big deal, but annoying. The bigger (ha) issue is that, while this dress looks fine from the front, the cut of the skirt makes the back view...unfortunate. I'll show you what I mean.

Fine, right?

Then I start to turn and you can maybe see what's happening here:

Whoomp:

There is a weird dead-center pleat  that just makes everything... wider. My solution?

Cardigan! Always.
