Adrien: Not Rocket Science

I will be the first to admit this isn't exactly a groundbreaking outfit. I wore my great leopard print skirt with...a t-shirt. That I didn't tuck in or anything. And those clog shoes again. And that bag. AGAIN.

But you know what? This is pretty much the epitome of my style. Keep it simple, interesting details, a little bit of color. Can't go wrong with that.

skirt: Ann Taylor (similar animal print pencil skirt)

Gandyland.

A: Can we talk about David Gandy some more? Can he make it stop fucking raining?

M: If anything can stop the rain it's David Gandy's chest muscles.

A: He appears to be reluctant about this power:

M: Help us David Gandy, you're our only hope.

A: MAKE IT HAPPEN GANDY.

M: FACE MUSCLES HAIR HIIIII

A: You know that scene in Sixteen Candles where Jake Ryan's drunk girlfriend is all, "OOOooOooHhhh, pickturrrres! Cheerrrrzzz!!"?  Yeah, that's what my brain said when it saw that one.

M: That reminds me:

A: Well, there's my day made.

M: Do I know you or do I know you?

A: Know me? You complete me.

M: Awwww.

A: (I just don't want to have to sleep in the dog house with the ticks next time I visit.)

M: (Smart lady)

A: (Yeah.)

M: (#duh)

A: (#meanlady)

Ross Find: Calvin Klein Modern Essential Blouse.

I just did a lunchtime trip to Ross with my friend Nina and even though I tried on a load of stuff, I only bought one thing. But you guys, it's a really good one thing. I remember reading Caphillstyle's review of the Calvin Klein Modern Essential Blouse a few months ago and wanted to buy it but I thought the retail price was high for a poly blouse. I'd completely forgotten all about it until I ran into one on the Ross shirt racks. Score! It wasn't my size though. I found another one. Not my size. And another one. Not my size. Dammit.

I'm not your size.

I enlisted Nina's help (like you do) and she promptly found on the clearance rack in my size, but in a tan color I'd never ordinarily consider. This blouse is beautifully made, feels expensive and fits perfectly, but this color? I wasn't sold:

Bleak Ross lighting.
Then Nina threw her orange statement necklace at me and hey! Not bad at all:

Unintentional pigeon toes. Sorry.
So I bought it for under $20 because, fuck yeah, Ross. Nina found one for herself in a great orange color and promised to check the other Ross store this weekend for more colors. There are a bunch available online in a lot of colors (and price points) and I think if you spent less than $50 you'd still be getting a deal. However, the Ross prices ($16-$27) still beats that by a mile. Go find it!

Adrien: A Few Products I Don't Hate.

I always feel like such a jerk when I post about beauty products I love because often the love fades or a new favorite is found and then I feel like a fickle teenager. (Which I kind of am when it comes to beauty products, but whatever.) I've already posted a few entries about the products I'm committed to, but there's also a whole range of things I'd gladly throw over if I found something better. You know how it is.

So, here's what I've been liking lately:

Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Mushroom. I've raved about the 24/7 liners before and this is a new color that I bought a few months ago. Its probably too light for a lot of people but I don't generally wear much dark eye makeup in the summer so for me it's the perfect pewter-taupe color. It's got a little shimmer to it but it's not glittery, and it lasts all day. Good stuff.

Bumble & bumble Shine On. During my last B&b bloodletting I ordered a tiny bottle of this to see if I could make my hair shine like the top of the Chrysler building. It's pretty damn good stuff and yes, it makes my head shiny. It smells nice too, a very subtle jasmine scent. BUT, they are not kidding with the "use sparingly" directive. I basically just spray it near my head and duck through it like perfume. It's good stuff but I'm sure there are shine sprays that work just as well and cost a whole lot less.

Bumble & bumble Straight Blow Dry. I got a deluxe sample of this and I've been using a tiny dab on the middle-to-end sections of my hair before blow-drying. It really does help to straighten and gives my hair a little weight and texture and helps to keep the humidity-frizz at bay. The downside: It smells like a dude. (I can't even put my finger on it - some element of lavender or musk?)  I don't understand this because while I get that B&b is a unisex brand, how many guys are blow-drying their hair straight? Anyway, it works really well, I use it, I don't really love the smell but it doesn't linger.

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Rose. I've talked before about the Fresh Sugar lip stuff in Plum, which I also love and grudgingly repurchase again and again despite it really being too expensive for tinted lipbalm. This is the summer version that I've found myself reaching for a lot. It's great for giving you a little polish without looking too made up. It's very sheer and would probably look nice on most complexions. Like it's counterpart, it's too expensive for what it is but that obviously never stopped me.

So, what are your latest beauty, "I kinda really like this...for now" products?

Marianne: Goyard Fantasy

**I just added a ton of stuff to the shop, check it out!**

I haven't posted an outfit in a while and I wish this one was worth showing you, but I'm running on very little sleep and still have 12 pounds to lose and it never stops raining here. EVER. Anyway, I'm wearing a new t-shirt here but it looks so depressing in this photo. In real life, this Current + Elliot t-shirt has a subtle gold shimmer and the perfect non-clingy drape. I basically got it for free this winter from a site that was going out of business, but you can find a similar shirt on sale here. I can't say I'd ever spent that much on a t-shirt, but I have been wearing it a ton.

I found this lightweight infinity scarf in the Target Dollar Zone for three dollars. Yes. You read that right. It was just last week so you should go get one! If you don't have any luck, this one is really similar and only $5 and hell, I might have to buy it.
So tired.
But enough of that, let's talk about the bag. Adrien linked to this bag in a recent post and I pretty much lost my mind. Why? It's an obvious knock-off of a Goyard tote. I've coveted a Goyard bag for years but at $1500+ FOR A CANVAS BAG it is never happening. Like, even if I win the lottery, NOT HAPPENING. So yeah, this Sam Edelman Octavia Tote was on sale for $40 and I snapped it up. It's sadly sold out, but this is another great coated canvas tote and I love this one too.

Adrien: Oh, Monday.

I had a four-day weekend and went a little feral there at the end. This morning I was very confused by the idea of getting dressed for work. I batted at my clothes, hooted and threw things like a monkey. NO NO NO. THIS IS NOT A BATHING SUIT OR PAJAMAS. WHAT THE CRAP. I finally gave up and put this on:

FINE MONDAY, YOU WIN.

dress: Merona (similar watery print dress)
shoes: Miz Mooz (similar style, same color!)
bag: Andrea Brueckner (similar black satchel)
necklace: Ann Taylor Shimmer Stone pendant

Does Not Look Good From the Back or Front.

M: My friend Lili sent this. UNSEE. UNSEE.

A: OH COME ON.

A: No, seriously. SERIOUSLY. WHO DO I FIRE.

M: Those boys can't even stand right.

A: Is this what's passing for male models these days? Because I QUIT.

M: These chickens are the size of one of David Gandy's biceps. Now THAT is a model.

A: The FACE on this one:

A: That boy doesn't have two thoughts to rub together.

M: He's starving.

A: Please undo this.

M: Not starving:

A: TOTALLY NOT STARVING. DAY IS SAVED.
