Hot Hotness.

M: I want everyone on The Shobbit to shut up. Except for maybe the old man eating an ice cream cone.

A: Yeah, and maybe Horse Tattoo Guy. Remember him? I LIKED HIM.

M: YES! Why is everyone all angular and hateful right now?

A: Hi, I'm wearing a jaunty hat:

A: And ruining an otherwise adorable outfit with this sweater I found shoved under the seat of my grandfather's Buick

M: What do you think she has shoved in those pockets? A lifetime collection of fingernail clippings?

A: Well, she has to put that hair she pulls out of her hairbrush somewhere. I do love love love her shoes. I think they're ChloĆ©.

M: The shoes are wonderful. The bag is cute. And the skirt is interesting. So why do I kind of dislike her on the spot? I wonder if I have any outfits that make people instantly dislike me?

A: She has a bitch face, that's why. Also, she is VERY AWARE that she's being photographed. Pose much?

M: I kind of wish that the cab door would swing open and knock her down. Just a little. Okay, a lot.

A: If that happens, I'll grab her shoes, you get the bag. Then we run.

M: Oh, you are ON.

A: She looks like like we could tip her right over. I really just DO NOT UNDERSTAND the cardigan! It is  filed under: Drinking Gin in a Tent.

M: Yes or: Woke Up In A Shallow Grave.

A: Um, ew. But yes. The hat is also an issue for me. But I like the rest so much! The knee socks, even!

M: I genuinely like (most of) this outfit. But it's making my head hurt.

A: It's the smug and smirky getting to you. It has to take a good deal of work to find SO MANY fashionably smug jerks to photograph.

A: But ooooh, buddy:

A: He is so everything I like all at once. I am pretty sure the venti iced tea is for me.

M: There there. That's better. I think we should start a Hot Men With Hotness street fashion blog.

A: I LIKE THIS IDEA.

Adrien: I love leopard in the springtime

Leopard print! It's all-season around here. I also like that it kind of frees me up to mix brown and black with careless abandon.

Isn't my yard garishly pretty? I think the best part about taking photos in the same spot every day is that I can go back and see how the season is changing day by day.

Okay, so this is the outfit:

skirt: Ann Taylor Wild Leopard Print Skirt

Beagle Femurs.

The following Twitter exchange between us and @ShoeDaydreams (AKA Poochie) and @Milkglassheart (AKA Lara) was too funny not to share:

ShoeDaydreams: 2 ft tall http://howtotalktogirlsatparties.tumblr.com/post/4450640105

M: I cannot tell you how hard I just laughed. I think he has beagle femurs.

A: DEAD. I AM DEAD.

SDD: Yeah, for reals.

M: We might have to use you tweeting us this for a post. Because OMG.

SDD: Please do. Given his recent commentary (aka "curvy" blogger), I feel this is ripe for captioning.

A: OH, it is ON. the whole "sturdy legs" comment made me burst into flames.

MGH:  "beagle femurs" just killed me dead.

M: Pot calling the kettle sturdy, that.

A: Save it for the blog sister! You killed me with "beagle femurs."

SDD:  Heeee!!!

M:  I am conducting scientific comparisons with Buster's legs.

M: Remind me and I'll take a picture of Buster's leg. You know, for Science.

Marianne: More Warby Parker Reviews

Yes, even though a lot of you found them unflattering and too chunky for me, I am not satisfied in my search for some fun new glasses. And so, Round 2 of my Warby Parker Home Trial. After uploading these pictures I wished I had done something with my hair and noticed the reflections, but you can't win them all.

These were fun, but pretty comical on my small face. I felt like Ira Glass, who I love, but I don't want to be him.

That's more like it. Okay, these aren't quite what I'm looking for, but they are just a bit more delicate and better sized for my bone structure. I like the dark tortoise color as well.

I loved this striped chestnut color. These felt a bit heavy on me, though.

I think these are my favorite. They are just a bit more feminine, and the way they get gradually lighter towards the bottom makes them feel like they aren't as overwhelming on my face. I think we might have a winner!

What's that? You remember that you get 5 pairs in each home trial box? Oh fine, maybe you don't. But there was one more pair that was so hilariously bad on me, the pictures don't do it justice. I look a bit like a young Woody Allen.

I am telling you, they looked so bad on me that my husband snorted. But the good news is, I think I found some glasses! And for under $100. Once again, I am not getting a penny for this review, I just think it's a great company with some really fun options (and great prices!).

Adrien: I don't know, it was Friday.

I had this grand idea that I was going to just start wearing jeans to work on Fridays like it's a thing. It's not a thing and though I've done it before with no trouble it still feels slightly rebellious.  I tried to be all creative this Friday and wear something new and different with my jeans but no. It just wasn't happening. Do you know that it's absolutely impossible to wear a pale grey shirt in a non-lumpy fashion? I discovered this. It's true! And infuriating. Oh, my problems are immense. So instead, you get a black, lump-hiding shirt and some other stuff:

Snore! So I added a little leopard. You know, like I do:

t-shirt: Gap
cardigan: Banana Republic (similar)
jeans: Paige Premium (similar)
shoes: Frye Lisa t-straps (similar)
scarf: Ann Taylor Wild Leopard Luxe Scarf

Your Questions, We Keep Answering Them.

**Quick note: I added some new fanciness to the shop a few days ago. Check it out! Mama needs a new bag.**

On to the entry...

Hey, remember when we had that contest and asked for your questions? And then promised to answer them all? Yeah, we're still working through that. But, here are the questions we got related to shopping. Yay!

What is your biggest splurge item? How did you decide?

A: For me, it's usually a bag or a coat. I tend to ask myself the following questions: "Does it fill a niche that isn't already filled?" and "Does it fit my lifestyle?" and sometimes, "Is it cute as all hell?"

M: Bags, for sure, which I totally blame Adrien for. My biggest single splurge has probably been my Donna Karen boots. I coveted them and then I bartended my little tail end off and saved for those and I still wear them 10 years later. Worth it.

What was your favorite splurge? What was your best bargain?

A: Favorite splurge? Recently it's my patent Coach bag. It has fit into my wardrobe seamlessly, like I've always had it. Biggest recent bargain has to be my Old Navy leather jacket.

M: I haven't been really splurge-y lately, so I can't really answer that part. But I've had some great bargains. My most recent favorite is my stripey Club Monaco t-shirt dress.

What is your biggest shopping regret of 2010?

A: For me, some of the more whimsical purchases from Anthro have been regrets for me because it took buying them to realize they aren't really my style.

M: Ditto to that. Falling prey to the Anthro sales, I ended up buy and returning, or worse, buying and reselling for less.

Did you ever get shopping info for the green leather trench/make you want to break your face shoes outfit?

A: Good lord no. That's a recipe for tears.

M: It is better for everyone if I don't know what Gio is actually wearing.

What Spring trends are two you must excited about wearing? (and)
Are there any spring trends you are going to jump on (Wide-leg pants, 70's glam, belt purses)?

A: I...don't know. I really don't know that I'm excited by anything I've seen so far. I'm slow to adapt.

M: I am sorry, but "wide-leg pants, 70's glam, belt purses" just made me snort unattractively, so I guess that's a no. I think I'm at least a year behind the trends, which luckily seems to put me a year ahead around here, so I get to pretend I'm cutting edge with my clogs and field anoraks.

Specific rules in shopping? do you go over the top or just the minimum budget?

A: For clothing I try to buy things that I know will fit with my wardrobe, that fit well and that aren't duplications. (Unless it's a cardigan or a striped shirt in which case I tend to forget the duplication rule.) I try to only go over budget if it's a once-in-a-lifetime deal.

M: I am pretty much over fast fashion unless it's something I consider disposable, like t-shirts. I'm tall and I have a small child, so things shrink or get stained. I am pretty good about wearing things for years if they are worth it, so I'm trying to get back into that mind set.

I am still searching for cute spring casual sneakers... not keds!

A: I don't really wear sneakers much, so I'm probably a bad person to ask. However, if I were to buy a pair today, it'd probably be these.

M: I also don't wear sneakers much, but I want some silvery glitter Toms.

How do you afford the awesome shoes you always wear (all the Frye shoes and Chie Miharas)?

A: First rule: Never pay full price. Second rule: Don't be scared of eBay. Both pairs of Chies I have were big purchases, but I didn't pay anywhere near full price and I've worn them a ton. Totally worth it. Fryes can be found for a lot less on eBay and 6pm.com.

M: Everything Adrien said, and also I try to spend the same money over and over again. I stalk things until I can get them for a deal, and then eventually if I don't want them any more, I try to resell for the same amount. This clothing/bag/shoe "recycling" actually gets me pretty far.

Any chance you'd let readers submit items for the "looks better on you" section?

A: Sorry, it's hard enough to find the time to list and ship stuff for ourselves. Maybe one day?

M: I highly recommend Bonanza.com for this, if you don't want to navigate eBay.

Marianne: Options

So obviously, I love this dress (something similar here). But while it was perfectly appropriate at the beach, it doesn't feel quite warm enough for me to expose that much leg. Almost, but not quite. And so, enter my favorite Ponte Leggings (in grey here).
And enter one of my ubiquitous scarves. I am a total scarf addict.

And even though it's warming back up, finally, I don't feel quite ready for sandals. Maybe this weekend. Or tomorrow. But today, I loved the look of my trusty Miz Mooz clogs.
Okay, hardly an original outfit, especially as of late, but don't accuse me of phoning it in. My ego can't take it.
