Adrien: More Photo Experimenting.

Okay, so I took it inside. I hope you guys don't mind but doing the stealthy outdoor photo thing was stressful and the lighting is really hard to get right. For now, at least, outfit photos are going to be in a weird blank corner of my apartment. We'll see.

So, FIRST. I am just buying and returning shorts like it's my job. This BR pair, for instance. I bought them in my normal size and they showed up and they were grey, which was actually fine by me. Unfortunately they were too small so I returned them for the next size up and that pair showed up olive green, which means they fixed the glitch, I guess? All the angry comments about the shorts actually being grey have vanished. Oooohkay, Banana. Anyway, they are maybe a touch big which is fine because I don't like my shorts riding up and assaulting my business. I didn't pay much for them but I'm on the fence. Keep or return?

BR Chino Utility Short

I wasn't trying to be artsy, I was looking at my cat. I will probably wear them like this if I keep them: 

Moving on! This was my actual outfit yesterday, just so you don't think I walked around in shorts I might not keep:

I had the day off so I wore this to run errands and whatnot. The shorts are Lucky Brand and I probably should've sized down, but they are super comfortable. Unfortunately all jean shorts look like this from the back which is annoying:

My blouse is Olive & Oak and I wear it an embarrassing amount, as you may have noticed. This one is pretty similar and so is this one. I want both if that's any surprise. My sandals are Sam Edelman Trina in whisky (great price!) and I love that they're comfortable but gold heel makes them a little fancy. 

This is my cat Daniel. He is not for sale but he would like you to admire my vintage LV Epi Speedy and consider that this nice red satchel might be a nice addition to your life. (Or, for the budget-conscious this one is adorable.) Actually, he's just hoping maybe you have some chicken.

Review: Sunday Riley Good Genes. Juno Oil. Ceramic Slip.

I cannot tell you guys how much I wanted to not like Sunday Riley products. I wanted to hate them and chalk the popularity up to good marketing and fancy packaging. So dumb! But, um, yeah. I have been using my generous samples of Good Genes Treatment, Juno Oil and Ceramic Slip cleanser for a few weeks and holy crap. I love this stuff.

Good Genes

The main thing I wanted to review is the Good Genes treatment because I'm pretty sure this is what is making my skin all clear and glowy. For the past few months my face had been going through some kind of mid-life crisis. I was breaking out in a way I hadn't experienced in years. Chalk it up to stress, hormones, product sensitivity, weather, whatever, my face wasn't happy and it hated everything I tried. So, I took a step back and cut my skin care down to the basics. Then I started in with the Good Genes every other night.

Things got better and quickly. Less blemishes, a bit of a glow, red marks fading. (It hasn't done much for my hyperpigmentation spots, but that will take time.)  It sometimes tingles a bit when I put it on, but it hasn't caused any irritation or flaking. The active ingredient is lactic acid which is also in the Peter Thomas Roth peel pads I love, so apparently this is an exfoliant that works for me. I recently sent this to Marianne as proof:

No filter and under fluorescent lighting. Not bad!

Juno Oil

I started using the Juno Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil on the alternate nights and my face just drinks it up. In the morning my skin is plump and happy and looks better. Just...better. Juno is interesting in that it's all "superfood" seed oils (it smells like oregano salad dressing but the scent doesn't linger) so it's full of antioxidants. Even Paula Begoun grudgingly admitted it's good stuff.  So far I love it. Ugh.

Ceramic Slip

The Ceramic Slip cleanser is a good product but I don't love it. I use it after my Clinique cleansing balm on evenings when my face feels especially grody (like after the gym) and it does a good job of really cleaning without stripping my skin. It's a good cleanser but considering all the fancy ingredients wash right down the drain I'm not sure that it really has time to do much. It's a solid cleanser but I'm much more impressed with the treatment products.

Luna Oil

I also have a sample of the very popular Luna Sleeping Night Oil but I don't want to introduce too many new products at once so I'll wait a bit on that one. Something to know: It's Smurf blue.

Adrien: YAY SUMMER.

I had Kate take these outfit photos of me on Saturday not because I thought it was the Super Best Outfit Ever but because it's generally the way I dress on weekends. In short: kinda basic. However, I like to throw in a few little touches to keep basic from sliding into boringville. So, here is my summer weekend jeans 'n tee:

This is an Everlane v-neck tee which I love like crazy and my shorts are Old Navy Sweetheart from last year. (I recently bought a pair of roll up jean shorts from Lucky Brand to be this pair's slightly nicer cousin but that's a story for another entry.)

My necklace is a Giles & Brother hook necklace and I'm wearing Oakley Restless aviators which were totally worth the money. They are excellent for small faces. Moving down, I'm carrying my ancient MBMJ Hillier Hobo and wearing my new Lotta from Stockholm peeptoe clogs that you're all sick of hearing about, I'm sure. 

Hi, those are my legs that could probably use some bronzing lotion or something. A short and simple outfit but this is pretty much how I roll on the weekends when the weather is hot. Very exciting, I know.
