BUY THIS: J.Crew Deals.

Lots of good deals going on this week! I thought J.Crew and J.Crew Factory both had good stuff on sale, so here's the info.

J.Crew
In stores & online: extra 30% off final sale styles with code SHOPSALE. Plus 2.0% cash back with eBates (my affiliate link.)

My pick: I love the jewelry at J.Crew more than anything else. I'd get the Celestial earrings.

Celestial Earrings
If you're feeling more practical, this would be a great time to pick up a Schoolboy Blazer or cashmere sweater, assuming you know your J.Crew sizing well. (I’m not big on final sale unless I’m 100% sure.)

Collection Cashmere V-Neck Sweater

J.Crew Factory
25% off any order with code EXTRA25. Plus 1.5% cash back with eBates (my affiliate link.)

My pick: The Factory version of my beloved Downtown Field Jacket:

Factory Pocket Utility Jacket

The discount code brings it down to $63.50! Not bad at all. Factory jewelry is also super cute:

Factory Stone Flags Necklace

Right? Good stuff. If you have any recommendations, please post them!

BUY THIS (So We Don't Have To): J.Crew Deep Cuts.

J.Crew is offering an extra 40% off sale styles and an extra 50% off select final sale styles with code FALLSALE (plus 3.0% back with eBates.) This is pretty freaking good, you guys. The big bargain that stood out to me:

Shiny Downtown Field Puffer Jacket

The Shiny Downtown Field Puffer Jacket. It’s $50 you guys. FIFTY DOLLARS. It leans a bit equestrian in a really fun way and comes in four non-boring colors. Check it out. If that’s not your thing, this is a great time to pick up some quirky gifts:
Shiny printed case for iPhone® 5/5s
Michiko Shimada Banana Salt-and-Pepper Shakers

Izola Maritime Soap Set

Or maybe a really freaking great Lulu Frost necklace:

Lulu Frost for J.Crew large stone necklace

Or a crazy-pretty pair of statement earrings:

Mixed brûlée statement earrings

And if all else fails, there’s cashmere. Just saying.

PS. Some final sale items are showing "Extra 25% off" instead of 40% or 50% on the item page but the full discount comes off when you apply the code!

BUY THIS (So We Don't Have To): J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket.

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with my olive (or as J.Crew likes to fancy it, mossy brown) Downtown Field Jacket and I will wear it until it's sad and dead. I love it. And I am absolutely gnashing my terrible teeth over the new color:

Ugh, I'm such a great color.

I WANT THAT. But I have one already and two seems excessive. I've seen the burgundy version in person and I can attest that it's really, really good. Sigh. Adding insult to injury, code SHOPNOW will get you 25% off full-priced items (plus 3% cash back with eBates.)

To further enable: the code makes this the perfect time to buy something J.Crew does right, like funky earrings or a ridiculously cute cobalt leopard print blouse. Or maybe we should be practical about this. I mean, could your cardigan collection be tighter? I know mine could. And how are you on striped sweaters with leather detail? JUST ASKING. Sheesh. I don't judge.

Buy This (But Not Full Price Like I Did): J Crew Downtown Field Jacket.

One of the very best fall purchases I made in 2011 was my J Crew Downtown Field Jacket:

I have worn it a ton for the past two years and look forward to wearing it an obnoxious amount again this fall. I actually paid full price for it (I know) but you shouldn't do that! Please don't do that. It is in stock right now in the mossy brown/green (and in navy) and J Crew is offering  25% off with code SHOPFALL. (Also, 6.0% back on eBates! That's my referral link! I can't stop with the exclamation marks!)

I really can't say enough good things about this jacket. It's casual but the shiny brass snaps keep it looking sharp and it's the perfect in-between layer for fall. Just go for it and thank me later.

Adrien: Such a Monday.

So, while it's great and all that we get more light in the morning now (RIP DST) it doesn't really work when you wake up and it's pouring down rain. Hmph. It just means that the lighting in my photos will be a bit weirder than usual. I appreciate that y'all don't seem to mind:

Today I'm dressed for the weather. My favorite old J.Crew cashmere sweater, which I've been wearing for nearly four years. Good cashmere is worth it's weight. They have an updated version here in the same dark purple and there's a burgundy version on the Factory site. My pants are also J.Crew and this pair at Factory are pretty close. These J Brands, though? So much better.

My Madewell Chelsea boots! Finally! I've been struggling a bit to make these work appropriate because I think they work best with jeans, but I'm cool with this look. This is their first outing and they are super comfortable so far. The sleeker leopard version are on sale but ugh, also final sale. Oh, and I'd like to give an honorable mention to these cute BR socks which work perfectly for pulling off that no-show bootie sock thing.

This is me looking at Daniel all, "What are you about to do, buddy?" My necklace is a Giles and Brothers hook pendant which is still one of my favorites. I'm pretty crazy about the new spike pendant too. I like pointy things, apparently.

My MBMJ Hillier. A classic and still holding strong. Before walking out the door I put on my J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket making this a head-to-toe J.Crew outfit which I am just now realizing. (Note to self: great job mixing it up, dummy.)

I have no idea what brand my scarf is but I saw this one at LOFT last weekend and I'm kicking myself for not just buying it. How many leopard scarves is too many? That is a rhetorical question. Have a good day.

Adrien: Saturday Layering.

I think I've complained enough about the 40° temperature swing in your average fall day (Winter coat! Bikini! Tall boots! Tank Top!) so I'll just say I'm trying to cope with layers. This outfit was from Saturday which was spent in the usual way - groceries, lunch out, errands, etc. Definitely casual but I had some fun with it:

Pretty basic, yes? My striped shirt (always a staple) is from Ann Taylor from a few years back, but they have this one that looks pretty similar. Gap also has a good one right now and Everlane is always a solid choice for stripes.  I'm also wearing my new Fidelity Sola jeans which have proven to be a good purchase. They don't slide down or stretch out! The wash on my pair is Coronado which is available on the slim boot style.

I added a lightweight scarf that I think came from Ross? I can't remember! But I do love pairing leopard with stripes like a crazy person. I have something like five leopard print scarves and I'm always looking for more. The muted print on this H&M scarf definitely appeals but I also love this bright purple print.  And oooh, this green infinity scarf option looks promising. This pretty silk Vince Camuto scarf is under $30 and you can always count on Target for a leopard print bargain.

I topped it all off with my MBMJ Too Hot To Handle Hobo and my old favorite Downtown Field jacket from J.Crew. If you're thinking about buying one, just do it. A couple of the colors are on sale right now (but not mine, which is the "mossy brown" color.) The upsides of the Downtown Field Jacket: it's a perfect in-between weather layer, it has good secure pockets for your phone and whatnot and it's sort of waterproof. The downsides: It starts out a little stiff and doesn't have pockets for your hands. Here's a closer look:

I love how it's weathering. In the four years I've had it it's definitely softened up, the snaps have tarnished a bit and the seams are starting to lighten the same way denim does. I love how it looks with a bit of age on it and will continue to wear it (hopefully) for years. Just a note: J.Crew Factory offers a longer version in navy with a hood for under $100.  I also think the Field Mechanic Jacket looks like a softer, more casual option. Oh, and my lapel pin is a vintage Aladdin Sane button my friend Annie gave me!

I've been wearing my Nike Internationalists a lot lately! I am really starting to get on board with the idea of sneakers-as-fashion and wouldn't mind another pair to add to my collection of one. I've always liked a classic Adidas style and I'm not sorry for wanting these. Also, yay red sneakers! Huh, maybe I should split the difference and get this red Adidas pair instead? Can I pull those off? I also love the cobalt blue colorway of my pair. A lot. *sigh*

BUY THIS: J.Crew Fall Must-Haves.

Great deal at J.Crew ends today! Code SHOPTIME gets you 25% off fall must-have items plus free shipping on any order today only. Don't forget to go through eBates for 2.0% cash back! (my referral link.)

This would be a good time to pick up a Tippi sweater or a cute cashmere striped sleeve sweater. Or! A really nice red satchel. You know I like a red satchel. AND, my beloved Downtown Field Jacket now comes in black:

Ooooohhhh.

Adrien: Fall Things. Yay I Guess.

And...it's officially fall and the weather immediately went sharply colder because FINE WHATEVER. Ahem. But, the (only) upside of this is that I can wear things I haven't touched in a while, like my J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket:

...and the striped Banana Republic dress I bought last winter and totally forgot about.

It's a good one. They have another striped dress that looks interesting but I have a Striped Thing Problem so it's probably best if I don't investigate. I'm wearing this dress with my new Frye Emma flats which are much more comfortable on their second wear. I think they're going to break in nicely.

I'm also still very happy with my new little bag - the color makes me really happy and the size is only a problem when I need room for an emergency cardigan. (Hush. This is totally a thing.)

My necklace is also from last winter - J.Crew, the land of awesomely weird tasseled things.

So, yeah. Stripes, tassels, MBMJ and Frye. All The Fall Things! If We Must!

Adrien: Seasonal Dressing Disorder.

And then the rains came. I know everyone talks about how much they looooove fall but I don't really get it. It just rains and rains and everything is grey and terrible. It's humid and clammy (but not actually cold) and I have no idea how to dress. This morning I dug around in my closet for something I hadn't worn in a while and found this People Tree dress:

Just a simple striped cotton dress, but they're the most fun to accessorize. People Tree does really cute dresses and lots of stripes. This People Tree Lola dress is basically the long sleeve version of my dress. I also like this shift dress and this Breton striped shirt. This Free People dress is also really similar to mine and I love this mod French Connection dress. I also think this navy striped dress at Nordstrom looks like a solid choice. Sorry, I want all the stripes, you guys.

I needed some color on a gloomy day, so I threw all my stuff in my old red epi Speedy. Yay accessories! Here are all the details:

My big tassel necklace is Lulu Frost for J.Crew. I feel like I'm constantly recommending tassels, but they're fun! Don't you like fun? This one by Rebecca Minkoff is really pretty and this Nanette Lepore necklace would go with everything but you really can't beat Lulu Frost for pure tassel craziness.  My watch is my Cluse La Boheme in rose gold and I'm wearing a Giles & Brother Skinny Pied De Biche Cuff. Mine has Tiger's Eye hooves but I also love the brass version.

Ah, it's boot season. That's one of the few things I like about fall and winter. Mine are Loeffler Randall Matilde boots bought via eBay, which I recommend. Look for the older ones that are made in Italy - much better quality. This pair (size 8) with the snaps is pretty cute and this pair in black (size 9) also looks like a good deal*. I have two pairs of these boots and wearing them a lot, so I highly recommend.

I'm a big fan of my old LV epi Speedy. It's not the most practical bag I own, but it's always satisfying to carry. I definitely recommend a structured red satchel if you don't have one. This Calvin Klein saffiano bag would be a solid choice but the rich color on this LRL Newbury satchel is way better. My bargain pick would be this red nugget at Modcloth. Cute!

Finally, I threw on my favorite J.Crew Downtown Field jacket and was like, huh. This is...it needs something. So I pulled out a scarf (mine is from Ross but reminds me of Missoni) and clearly I am thrilled:

At least, I was until I walked outside and realized it was 70 degrees and I'm an idiot. Yay.

* As always, when I recommend items on eBay please do your homework first! I can't guarantee other people's auctions. However, but I'd never recommend an item I wouldn't feel comfortable bidding on.

Adrien: Autumn Wish List.

Blarg. Autumn. Everyone's favorite season but mine. I'm a summer person who loves the sunny, humid weather everyone else hates. But, I do like fall clothes quite a bit. The color palette is more my speed and I sure do like boots a whole lot. So, thinking towards fall, here's what I'd like:

A wine/oxblood bag.

Vince Camuto Sloan Satchel
I want something in a not-quite-purple, not-quite-brown color. Probably a satchel? I'll most likely go to eBay but ooh, this little nugget is my dream.

Straight leg jeans.

7 For All Mankind Kimmie
I have a lot of jeans but I am lacking that one go-to pair of straight legs that I can wear with everything. Not a skinny jean, just a straight leg style that fits perfectly.

Something moto.

BR Sloan-Fit Moto Pant
I straight up already bought these pants, so yeah. This is something I can cross off the list already.

Something with leather (or faux leather) trim.

Faux-Leather Trim Open Cardigan
Uh, yeah, so I bought this cardigan and the faux-leather pencil skirt because the Banana Republic deals were too good to pass up. I'm not sure if I'll keep the skirt, but I dig it.

Cognac tall boots.

Loeffler Randall Matilde
My heart wants another pair of Matildes but that's going to be an eBay purchase if I can find them because they're way too expensive new. I'm also fond (naturally) of this ridiculously expensive pair of Frye boots.

Chie Mihara shoes.

Chie Mihara Fix
This is a big one and might be an either/or with the cognac boots. I have several pair of Chies that I love and adore and have worn the hell out of. They're so good and so GD expensive. Luckily I've been unmoved by the past few collections, but this fall they have a couple of styles that are beautiful.

J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket.

Downtown Field Jacket
I already have one in olive that I love and now I want one in black. Do I need two? Absolutely not. Do I want two? Absolutely yes. I'm not sure if I'll actually go for this, but it's tempting.
