Wanty: My Running Summer Wish List.

I always have a running wishlist in my head of things I want to buy or need to buy (but mostly want to buy) for whatever season is upon us. Sometimes I'll actually write it down so I can look back later and see which things I actually ended up getting, but mostly I just post it here because why not. Let's start with the obvious:

When I first saw the Birkenstock Arizona Split I was pretty sure they were not for me but this pair kept following me around the internet and now I want them pretty badly. I really don't need another pair but I definitely WANT another pair.

I feel like I should have a few more non-tee options for summer and I am regretting that I didn't buy this linen blouse I talked about in my shopping story post. It fit well and looked good but I left it behind because... white linen. I might have to go back for it.

I live in denim shorts during the summer and my pair of Joe's from last year (on sale in black!) are still hanging in there but I want another pair. I reeeeeally l like the pair above, though they are more than I want to spend. Maybe this pair of Levi's cutoffs? They have potential. And of course this pair from Old Navy looks promising but I'm not sure about the rise on me.

Now, on the practical size I probably should buy another pair of my Athleta Brooklyn Ankle pants because I wear my black pair nearly every day. They're the perfect work-from-home pants - lightweight and comfortable but also they look like real pants! Plus, I love the stripe down the side. I'm thinking maybe I need a pair in olive green or maybe navy? (I dig the window pane navy but they're sold out of my size.)

Finally, something dumb. I still want this dumb overpriced tee at Anthro because the heart wants what it wants. I probably won't buy it but ugh. Maybe it'll go on sale.

What do you want for summer? Do tell.

We Discuss: Fall Shoes, The Sequel.

M: Fall wish list so far: new sunglasses, shearling Arizonas, animal print mules

A: I want those snakeskin mules, shearling Boston clogs, and a really good raincoat. Oh, and I actually legit need a new striped shirt. I killed the one from J.Crew.

M: I’d like another drape-y trench type jacket maybe.

A: I love fall clothes even though summer is my favorite.

M: Oh and I want a new turtleneck sweater which is going to be a pain because I have something very specific in mind.

A: Is it made from the male tears of the patriarchy?

M: Ideally

A: I’m in

M: But also just heavy enough, but can also be tucked a little, good drape, not too thin, maybe ribbed.

M: I have a favorite grey turtleneck that’s too trashed to wear in public but I want to replicate it.

A: You might have to go fancy.

M: I might.

A: I still want those snakeskin mules, FYI.

M: 🙃

M: They are cute.

A: They are weird and interesting and unlike anything I own.

M: Obvi I’m a fan

A: *Brisk clap* Well, that’s done.

M: Haaaa

A: You talked me into it. very persuasive.

M: My loafer mules shipped! I really got the last ones!

A: YES.

A: I’m glad you didn’t hesitate.

M: Damn me too.

***

A: My eBay Vince sneaker boots arrived!

A: 😍 Too bad I can’t wear them for at least two months.

M: Yay! They fit?

A: They fit. I went down half a size as you recommended.

M: I’m glad you like them!

A: They're in great shape and now I feel like I stole them.

A: I keep trying them on and then sadly pulling them off.

M: My loafer mules came and I love them.

A: Such a good shoe happy endings!

Gift Guide: Marianne's Wishlist

Yesterday I posted my wishlist of things I actually really would like for the holidays. Today, it's Marianne's turn:

I am NOT asking for these but that doesn't mean I don't want them:

And these assholes have my number as usual:

I also like WWAKE's stick wisp earrings:

I'd like a new set of prep bowls so I can get rid of our plastic ones. These are nice:

There are quite a few things on my Amazon list that I would love. A pretty brass mister for my plants:

New towels for the pool, several books (Adrien is saving those for the book gift guide because she's mean), and an essential oil diffuser:

Your turn! What's on your personal wishlist? A pony? A pair of Birkenstocks? A Dissent pin?

Stuff I Haven't Bought...Yet.

Now that it's suddenly mid-September I am starting to really think about fall and what I might need to fill the holes in my closet. I've realized that my style has shifted quite a bit and that some of what I have in my closet just doesn't work for me anymore. I can't even remember the last time I wore a skirt! Also, who doesn't own a pair of black flats? Me, apparently. SO, here are some things that I'm thinking about:

I keep coming back to this Dagne Dover backpack even though I think the price is stupid. It would be great for travel but I also hope it would replace my super-sad canvas work tote. I love that it will hold my laptop because that tote gets freaking heavy when I take my computer home. Does anyone have this backpack and love it? Also, WHAT COLOR DO I GET? MAYBE BLACK.

Here is why I don't own black flats, because sometimes flats also come in red camo. Ugh, those are cute. I haven't tried Rothy's but I'm seriously considering it because two of my friends swear by them and I like that they're washable. But...they seem expensive for plastic shoes. Hm.

Speaking of shoes, I am still very into the idea of a pair of mules from Madewell because they seem like a great way to bridge the gap between Birkenstocks and boots, you know? I particularly love metallic as a neutral so these might have to happen.

One thing I actually seriously do need to buy is actual work pants because wearing black jeans to work and pretending they're work pants is fooling nobody. Even though I am mad at Banana Republic right now (REALLY MAD) I keep coming back to look at this pair which ARE BASICALLY JEANS. But they're olive green so not really, right?

Hahha just kidding, I already bought this AllSaints jacket. And that grey Veda jacket. I'm insane.

Because I'm all about wearing pants these days I need to step up my fun blouse game. Loft is great for affordable, washable tops and they have 40% off right now, which is tempting. This twist hem top looks so easy - just throw it on with skinny pants and a fun pair of flats (great, now I want those too) and you're good to go. Add a leather jacket and you're basically me!

Where are you going? Come back here.

Fall Wish List: Update (and a few recommendations)

Disclosure: I get a commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.

A few weeks ago I posted my fall wish list and I've been hard at work buying shit I don't really need. Not really. I mean, kind of? Here's where it stands right now:

Leopard Flats
I've been back and forth on this because flats are such a risk, you know? Even my comfortable flats aren't that comfortable and the idea of spending $100 on shoes that might wreck me is just...unappealing. Then I remembered a pair of Ugg leopard loafers I saw online last year. I wavered and didn't buy them (sound familiar?) and of course they sold out. Welp, I found them on eBay NIB and bought them and they're PERFECT. They have fuzzy wool footbeds and feel like slippers.

I love them! Hopefully they'll serve me well. They're sold out everywhere except for the occasional pair on eBay but Ugg also makes this cute leopard flat and these cute zebra pointy zebra flats.

Boots
I think we all know how this story ended. I am just going to have to keep an eye on the Madewell boots and maybe they'll go on super-sale after the holidays. (I'm ignoring the fact that they're on sale right this second. Hush.)

Sneakers
This wish list item is on hold in my brain. I'm still thinking about those olive suede Pumas, but they aren't crucial.

Sweater
Ugh, you guys. I really love this new striped Everlane cashmere sweater! They have a bunch of $100 cashmere sweaters right now but I am trying hard to save some money so it will just have to wait. Plus, it's still 80° outside so it's hard to imagine draping myself in cashmere right now. Repeat after me: I don't need it immediately. I don't need it immediately. I don't need it immediately.

A Satchel/Tote
This is definitely a want, not a need. Mostly I've been carrying my grey MBMJ hobo all the time and ignoring my other bags, so it's just...a thought. I really do like this one, though.

Tuxedo Jacket
Solved! Done! As soon as it stops being so freaking hot out, I'll post an outfit with my new jacket.

A few recommendations:

My friend Kate and I made a journey out to the giant mall last weekend because I had an important mission: bra shopping. Sigh. We went to Nordstrom and got measured and everything and I ended up in a different size than I'd been wearing which I'd suspected would happen. I bought this Natori bra:

It's basically perfect. Neither sexy nor mumsy and super comfortable. I love Natori even though they discontinued my favorite bra. Oh, also, hanging on the changing room door, all casual, was this:

Oh yes. That is an Ugg poncho cape thing made out of the softest material on the planet. We both tried it on and I basically bullied Kate into buying it because it's straight up amazing. She loved it and has a long international flight coming up, so it was necessary, right? What could be more perfect? It's the coziest thing I've ever put on.

Finally, if you are currently storing your nice sunglasses in a weird grubby squeeze-top pouch you bought at Old Navy about ten years ago (guilty) please do yourself a favor and buy this:

Just a suggestion but I've been looking for a cute sunglasses case forever and they're surprisingly hard to find. That's it for my recs! Are you doing any fall wish list shopping? If so, whatja get?

PS. These are cute.

Wanty: Spring Wish List.

Okay, listen. I know the first day of March does not = Spring but in my brain it does. March sounds a lot more cheerful than February, right? We'll just ignore that little snowflake icon that's threatening to ruin Friday. Ugh. So I've started thinking about what I'd like for spring and here's what's top of mind:

Pretty Heeled Sandals:
My prettiest sandals are up for sale in the blog shop because I'm finally facing the sad truth that they're a little small on me. Instead I'm thinking maybe something like this Coclico sandal:

Coclico Sandal

It's got a solid heel but still manages to look light. And hey, this red Chie Mihara pair isn't terrible either. I LOVE the heel on this Kate Spade pair but not the price (why is everything I love so damn expensive?) so something like this pair by Calvin Klein might be a good compromise. Shoes are hard.

Spring Dresses:
I'm always looking hopefully at Boden for good quality dresses and, while I was looking for something more casual, I ran into this amazing colorblock dress:

Boden Mya Dress

This could easily be dressed up for a party or worn more casually with flat sandals and a cardigan. It's so pretty! On the other end of things, this easy jersey dress looks like a great weekend option and I'm definitely considering it.  Oh! And check out this cobalt swing dress at LOFT:

Sleeveless Swing Dress

It looks like a good one, right? I always forget about LOFT. Definitely need to try that one on.

Silver Accessories:
I've been wearing gold pretty exclusively for the past couple of years but I love the idea of silver for warmer weather. This Giles and Brother necklace is messing with my head pretty good:

Thorn Charm Two-Chain Necklace

I'd also love some pretty silver bangles like this one from House of Harlow:

Pave Rose Quartz Cuff

And this one by Miansai which is basically my dream:

Miansai Silver Thin Screw Cuff

White Jeans:
I have one straight leg pair from Ann Taylor that I love and I'd really like a skinny ankle style that I could get away with wearing to work with a pretty blouse. This pair at Banana Republic fits the bill:

BR White Skinny Ankle Jeans

Hopefully! I've been happy with BR denim lately, so we shall see. I was also pleased to see that the Old Navy Rockstar comes in white though I worry they'll be too thin.

There's Always A Bag:
I'm actually feeling pretty good about spring/summer when it comes to bags. I bought a friend's Cambridge Satchel pushlock bag in white (from last summer's Box of Style, so eBay is the best place to look) and I'm looking forward to carrying it. However, my daily work tote is looking pretty sad so I'd love to get something sleeker in a fun print, all Neverfull style. Like this one:

Liberty London Tote Bag

Normally I'd go for the more intense colorway in a Liberty print (I mean!) but something about the cool blush print paired with the pale leather? So summery! So breezy! And so out of my price range! I wish I'd never seen it! But the lining is purple!  WAH. This is where I'd be all, "this is the tote I'll actually probably buy because it's in my price range" but not this time. Nope. I am just going to have my feelings hurt by Liberty and leave it at that.

Adrien: Spring Wish List.

As per usual, I want All The Things. It's that magical time of year when I desperately want spring clothings but a) everything in the stores is a super terrible shade of fleshy pink and b) it's still 43 degrees outside. Mother eff.

But! I still want and I'm trying to be strategic about it. I AM TRYING. Here are the things currently on my spring wish list (and you'll notice a lot of it is the same as what I wanted last year. At least I'm consistent.)

One Really Great Pair of Shoes.

I freaking love these:

Chie Mihara mystery shoes
So so much. Enough to save like a crazy person to buy them. There's just one problem - they only exist on that one website and they're sold out of my size. They have a (way more expensive) yellow-heeled version but my heart wants red and only red. This is not a real problem, I know, but I love them and I can't have them and it's irritating.

Easy Floaty Blouses.

Maeve Pintuck Peasant Blouse
If I had a uniform, it would be this - skinny jeans, floaty blouse, cute shoes, jacket. I am having a hard time finding blouses I like that don't cost eleventy million dollars. I am okay with synthetics but I am not okay paying eleventy million dollars for synthetics.

More Everlane T-Shirts

Everlane Cotton V
I love my plain white v-neck t-shirt a lot and now I want all the glorious sad-hipster colors too.

A New Casual Spring Dress. (Or Two.)

Relaxed Holiday Dress

I have a couple of casual dresses from last spring/summer that I think are about done, so time to find replacements. I want to find some easy, cute options that are also decent quality. Boden comes to mind, I just need to bite the bullet and order a few. This pintuck dress looks like it would be a great easy summer option and the t-shirt dress has been tempting me for a while.

Cobalt Blue Jeans
Jen7 Skinny Jeans
I've been seeing bright cobalt blue jeans in the stores lately and I am pretty sure I need a pair. Maybe this pair of Hudsons. That is all.

A Neutral Hobo-Style Bag. Specifically this one

Too Hot To Handle Hobo

I know I just talked about this bag but I'm convinced it's the the perfect spring-summer version of my black Hillier hobo. Slightly obsessed.

Adrien: Autumn Wish List.

Blarg. Autumn. Everyone's favorite season but mine. I'm a summer person who loves the sunny, humid weather everyone else hates. But, I do like fall clothes quite a bit. The color palette is more my speed and I sure do like boots a whole lot. So, thinking towards fall, here's what I'd like:

A wine/oxblood bag.

Vince Camuto Sloan Satchel
I want something in a not-quite-purple, not-quite-brown color. Probably a satchel? I'll most likely go to eBay but ooh, this little nugget is my dream.

Straight leg jeans.

7 For All Mankind Kimmie
I have a lot of jeans but I am lacking that one go-to pair of straight legs that I can wear with everything. Not a skinny jean, just a straight leg style that fits perfectly.

Something moto.

BR Sloan-Fit Moto Pant
I straight up already bought these pants, so yeah. This is something I can cross off the list already.

Something with leather (or faux leather) trim.

Faux-Leather Trim Open Cardigan
Uh, yeah, so I bought this cardigan and the faux-leather pencil skirt because the Banana Republic deals were too good to pass up. I'm not sure if I'll keep the skirt, but I dig it.

Cognac tall boots.

Loeffler Randall Matilde
My heart wants another pair of Matildes but that's going to be an eBay purchase if I can find them because they're way too expensive new. I'm also fond (naturally) of this ridiculously expensive pair of Frye boots.

Chie Mihara shoes.

Chie Mihara Fix
This is a big one and might be an either/or with the cognac boots. I have several pair of Chies that I love and adore and have worn the hell out of. They're so good and so GD expensive. Luckily I've been unmoved by the past few collections, but this fall they have a couple of styles that are beautiful.

J.Crew Downtown Field Jacket.

Downtown Field Jacket
I already have one in olive that I love and now I want one in black. Do I need two? Absolutely not. Do I want two? Absolutely yes. I'm not sure if I'll actually go for this, but it's tempting.

Summer Wish List: How'd I Do?

So, back in May I wrote up a summer wish list with my horrible summer budget restrictions in mind. Now that *sob* summer is nearly over, I thought it'd be interesting to see how closely I stuck to what I needed. My list:

Denim Shorts

I bought the Old Navy Sweetheart Denim Shorts (Outfit here) and I wore the everloving shit out of them all summer. They were the best and I'm sorry I didn't buy a second pair. Yay for Old Navy! My favorite place to buy cheap t-shirts and shorts.

Yellow Clog Sandals

Sadly, I did not buy these. I did wear my black pair by Lotta From Stockholma whole lot so I really do think another pair is in order but it didn't happen this summer.

Aviator Sunglasses

This one hurts my heart. A lot. I found the sunglasses I desperately want - the Oakley Restlessbut they're expensive, so it'll have to wait for now. I'm still wearing my old MBMJ pair but one of the lenses keeps popping out. The next time it happens I'll probably stomp on them and head to the Oakley store.

Small Necklace

I bought this! I got the House of Harlow mini sunburst necklace and it's been great. I've worn it a lot this summer. The exact version I bought seems to be gone, but it comes in other great colors.

Magic Dress
Sad face. I didn't find my new magic dress this summer. Instead I've just been wearing my old magic dresses from the past and wishing they didn't look quite so sad.

Fun print blouses
I didn't buy any new ones this summer, but my favorite spring blouse purchase (worn here) has been one of my most-worn tops this summer. I always look for Olive & Oak when I go to Marshalls but I haven't found another one I like as much.
