Shopping Reviews: Old Navy for Summer.

Last Saturday was a beautiful day and then a crazy storm rolled in and cut my outdoor biking fun short. I was feeling a bit out of sorts and I'm dying for summer weather, so I decided to take myself over to Old Navy to see what kind of cheap fun I could find. Because, really, summer clothes should be cheap and fun, right? Right. First, I went for cut-off shorts because that's what I spend most of my summer weekends wearing:

These could be slightly longer but they run a little big and sit low on the waist, the perfect slouchy casual kind of thing. They also had these cute pixie shorts in a bunch of colors:

I tried them on but didn't buy them. I liked them though, and thought the army green was especially good. I also tried on this striped t-shirt dress which was perfectly cute and a nice medium weight:

But OMG HOW MANY STRIPED DRESSES DO HAVE. Um, like eight. I put it back. And then, like I'm some kind of idiot with no attention span (accurate), I tried on this striped split back tank:

I sized down because I liked it better a bit shorter and the open back is a nice detail but not too revealing. Yeah, I bought it. Hush. I also tried on this print cami top even though it has spaghetti straps and would require some kind of special underpinning:

It is so cute! So so so cute. Just ridiculously floaty and I love the print and it has sweet button detailing on the back and I'll figure out the bra thing. (Maybe a skinny-strap bralette? I can't handle strapless.) I also tried on this crochet tank and this cute print top, but neither one worked on me.

Finally, I pawed over this cute little zip crossbody bag which I'd admired the last time I was in the store. It looks more expensive than it is and it comes in really fun colors but I didn't need it. Then I got home and saw that it comes in snake print online and yup, wait. I need it:

I also think it's worth mentioning that my Fit & Flare Jersey Dress is back in stock (limited sizing) and that Old Navy is offering 20% off everything today (no code needed) and you can get 2% cash back with eBates! So, cheap and cheerful for sure. Have fun.

Weekend Window Shopping: Madewell for Summer.

Oh man, you guys. I have the feeling that Madewell is going to get a lot of my money this summer. I just love the effortless summer-casual feel of it all. Here's my imaginary summer weekend wardrobe:

Cute Boy Friday: Daniel Dae Kim

So, long long ago I was a big fan of Lost and I remember surprising one of my dude friends by saying Daniel Dae Kim was the total babe on the show. Nope, not Sawyer, I was all about Jin. I mean, come on:

Those are some cheekbones. And he does an amazing steely gaze, right?  Also, arms

And we didn't see it much in Lost (I must watch Hawaii Five-0!) but his smile is kind of amazing:

And, here he is in GQ looking like an adorable snazzy park ranger:

And, there's this:

YEP. Happy Friday, all.

It's All About Perspective.

A: He's totes taller than the moddle.

M: Working that perspective.

A: No, no, he’s TALL. Like, waaaay taller than her.

M: The Sartorialist for BabyGap.

A: Please make that happen.

M: She's literally a seven year old.

A: “Here, you can wear heels! I'll allow it.”

A: PS. he just held a casting in NYC, looking for women 18-30. HIS CUT OFF IS 30.

M: Fuck that noise.

A: Still the Worst! That’s our Shobbit.

M: Never change 💫

A: #soblessed 😒

A very, very Happy Birthday today to Marianne and her sweet daughter Lulu!

Adrien: Boots In May I Guess.

First, a quick announcement! I am now on Snapchat because of Marianne and FOMO. I'm still shaking my cane at it a bit but please follow if you'd like: @Amblus and @mariannecanada

Right, so I know some people wear tall boots all year long but for me boot season is strictly October-April. However,  it will stop being cool and rainy and I just need to be warm and also wear my new summer dress, okay? Okay:

My dress is an Old Navy Fit & Flare dress that literally just sold out and I'm mad about it. Hopefully they'll restock but in the meantime I think this Striped T-Shirt Dress is really cute and this Cami Dress looks like a perfect easy weekend option. There's also this linen-cotton striped dress at Gap that looks like a more dressed up option and this sailor stripe shift dress also looks good. But boo, Old Navy. Bring it back!

It's not ideal, but I ended up throwing my Madewell Beckett jacket on over the dress because it's the perfect weight and has a hood. I love this jacket so much, I can't even. The current Madewell Fleet jacket looks like a really nice light-weight option and the Brimfield jacket is damn cool and has a hood! Also, I feel it worth mentioning that the Target utility jacket is on sale (but only available in a few sizes.)

Details! Keeping it simple with a pointy pendant necklace from Banana. It's sold out but this new Sparkle Drop Pendant is such a good delicate summer piece. (Also, I bought the Feather Pendant and it's so pretty.) My watch is an old La Mer wrap and it's the best. I kind of want the white one now too? I need that, right?

I'm carrying my awesome blue MBMJ bag which is a bit matchy-matchy but I like how the brass zipper looks with my cognac boots. Hopefully one of you snagged the blue MJ bucket bag I posted yesterday! I think it's the same blue. There's also a very nice looking blue faux-leather hobo over at Last Call and oooh, this Ralph Lauren Newbury hobo. So pretty.

Finally, my boots. These are Loeffler Randall Matilde boots and I love them but I recommend buying an older pair on eBay. Look especially for LR boots made in Italy, not Brazil. Now is a good time to start looking since it's off season and there's less competition! Get to it.

BUY THIS (So We Don't Have To): OMG MBMJ at TJ Maxx

YOU GUYS. Now that I know the hidden secret of the TJ Maxx website, I can't stay away from it. There are a few new additions to the Lulu Frost jewelry - statement earrings, a poison ring, a fancy bracelet, and these earrings which are crazy:

BUT I also found bags, glorious bags! First, this little Kooba crossbody is only $50 and just hanging out by itself:

The other gem is these amazing "made in Italy" bags that are dead ringers for fancy LV styles. I love this white Iacucci speedy-style leather satchel:

And this red Alberta Di Canio dome satchel is gorgeous (and also comes in beige):

Quality leather bags made in Italy for those prices? Good stuff. BUT THEN! I found the Marc by Marc bags and it was all over. First, check out this nylon MBMJ Preppy hobo for $99:

Annnnd for $199 there’s this MBMJ leather Marchive Hilli Hobo:

AND for $149 this gorgeous aquamarine MBMJ leather tote:

And finally, at $179 this amazing blue leather MBMJ Ligero Bucket Bag:

*sob* Someone please buy that and put me out of my misery.

Adrien: Saturday Bowie and Casual-Fancy.

I thought I'd post a Saturday outfit because I own, um, several Bowie t-shirts and they never get shown on the blog. Now, I love a cool graphic band tee but pulling it off with effortless cool ala Kate Lanphear is a little more challenging, mostly because traditional t-shirts fit like garbage. That's right, I said it. They do. But! I bought this one recently and it had to happen:

I'm slightly ashamed to admit I bought this Ziggy Stardust tee online at Hot Topic (You hush up. And size up.) where they have a surprising amount of Millennial-aimed Bowie stuff, meaning Labyrinth, which is apparently the Bowie of the young. I have opinions on that that I'll keep to myself.  Bowie tees are everywhere right now - this one at Macy's is pretty good and I'll admit this one at Kohl's is tempting me. Finally, torturing me on a daily basis is this ridiculously cool R13 Bowie tee that has no business being so expensive. Ugh.

I'm wearing last year's Banana Republic distressed skinny jeans. They super comfortable! This pair looks like a slightly darker wash version and I'm intrigued by this limited edition pair

Details! I'm wearing my Cluse La Bohème Rose Gold watch and a sparkly bracelet that Marianne made me. I'm also wearing my giant Alexis Bittar ring (which can be found on eBay) but I'm also fascinated by this crazy ring. Go big, y'all.

I feel like I talk about this bag every week, I'm sorry! I carry it a lot. It's currently only to be found on eBay but this MBMJ Recruit Leather Hobo is quite similar and the Talbots hobo I've mentioned before is on sale!

My shoes? Well, let's face it. These TOMS slip-ons aren't really shoes in the strictest sense but they are damn comfortable and my pair is a little bit sparkly. Casual-fancy or something. This pair of neutral metallic slip-ons would also be a fun casual-fancy option and if that's too subtle there's a straight-up glitter option. And oh my God, you guys. THERE IS SNAKE PRINT. Dammit. I like those.

The weather was questionable so I threw on my old faithful J.Crew Downtown Field jacket. There is no substitute so I won't even try. Good day to you.
