Stuff I Like: Loungewear.

Y'all, For someone who's been writing a style blog for more than ten  years, I'm a real disappointment when it comes to at-home fashion. I want to be the person that gets fully dressed in a cute outfit every morning for my remote job but honestly, unless I have a meeting, I'm wearing loungewear. It's not cute but I am VERY comfortable. I'll just see myself out. 

Orrrrrr I could tell you all about it and make you a slob like me. That seems like a better plan, somehow. First, I need to tell you about my favorite hoodie.  It's disgusting and I love it so much that when my first one wore out I tracked another one down on Poshmark. It's the velour-lined hoodie from J.Crew:

If they ever make it again I will probably buy four of them. It's just the right amount of cozy without being too thick and the lining is super-soft. I also have a pile-lined hoodie from Uniqlo and its great, but it's really best for the dead of winter. 

I have been thinking about upgrading my at-home hoodie game with this cashmere version from J.Crew. It's something I can see actually wearing out in the world and it would be great for travel. It's definitely under consideration. 

Next, let's talk joggers. I've mentioned my love for Quince SuperSoft Fleece Pants (I also love the fleece crew but not the hoodie, which I found flimsy) of which I own three pairs. But you know what? My Vuori Performance joggers are still my first choice. They're lightweight, incredibly soft and somehow still manage to be flattering. I also super-love the Long-Sleeve Halo Crew which is technically a sweatshirt but... elevated. Sometimes pricier things are actually worth it and for me, Vuori has been worth it.

It goes without saying that all of this fanciness should be worn with Birkenstock Boston Clogs. They're having a moment right now and are hard to find, but if you can track down a pair of the shearling-lined version (more colors here) they're worth ever single cozy penny. 

Finally, it's been a while since I rambled on about socks, right?  Last fall I bought a pair of my favorite Bombas athletic socks in the calf length version and they are THE BEST. Great around the house or for athletic endeavors but even better to wear with boots. They're contoured L and R and do not slide down. Outfit of the Day: A Week in WFH Style.

The title is not entirely accurate as I only have four days of outfits to show you. I've been trying to get in the habit of taking a photo of what I'm wearing every day even if it's not particularly good or interesting. I mostly dress for comfort at home but it definitely makes me feel better and more productive if wearing an actual outfit rather than just my lounge clothes. Here are my outfit from the past four workdays:

I had meetings yesterday so I decided to dress like a damn adult. I'm wearing my Madewell eyelet top (similar here) with a very, very old J.Crew locket necklace (sorta similar!) My pants are Lululemon On The Fly and I thrifted them (I also have a pair in black) because those jerks stopped making them. They are SO GOOD. I wear a size up from my normal size in these, just FYI. I think the Athleta Brooklyn pant is very similar and also very good! My sandals are the Madewell Maggie in leopard from last summer and they don't get enough love, so I've been trying to wear them more. 

No meetings this day so my favorite Bowie tee with an older pair of Madewell Cali Demi Boot jeans. I'd just gotten another (I know) pair of M.Gemi clogs in the mail, a total steal from Poshmark. This pair is shearling-lined and they are amazing. I literally wore them around the house all day because they were so comfy. Obviously I don't need fleece-lined clogs in August but November Me is going to be very grateful. 

This is my business-on-top look, which means I have a meeting but my loft office gets hot, so shorts were necessary. I'm wearing a Treasure & Bond blouse from Nordstrom and my AGolde Parker Long shorts, which were expensive but I really love them and wear them a ton. They're made from non-stretch denim and after you wear them a few times they relax a little and just fit perfectly to your body. I'm also wearing my Birkenstock Arizona Split which are getting harder to find but this version is really cute and on sale. 

Annnnd, then there's this. This is what I wear when I don't have meetings and might go to the gym later. I'm wearing my (truly great) Athleta Ultimate Stash Pocket shorts (updated version here, weird color on sale here) and my favorite Wilt high-low tee. I'm wearing my white Birkenstock Arizona which are probably the pair I wear most often. 

That's it! Not quite a week's worth of work-from-home outfits.

Outfit of the Day: My WFH Secret. (Spoiler: It's Fancy Sweatshirts.)

I realized not long ago that my work-from-home outfits all had a similar lean: Sweatshirts. Heh. It's more like, let's be comfortable but also be able to answer the front door if someone knocks. It's all fun and games working in your pajamas until you have to sign for a package, you know? I also feel more like a human person if I make a tiny bit of effort every day, so I try to wear a little makeup, do my hair and wear a piece of jewelry. It makes me feel less like a home-bound swamp creature. Anyway, here are three recent work-from-home outfits featuring, um, pretty nice sweatshirts:

Y'all are familiar with my Madewell Boyjeans and my beloved Birkenstock clogs, so let's talk about my sweatshirt. It's the Vuori Halo Crew and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. SO MUCH. SO MUCH. I wear it all the time because it's just perfect - soft, slightly cropped (but not obnoxiously so), loose but not sloppy, comfy as hell and just kind of looks...nice? No matter what? I hate how expensive it is but it was worth every penny. 

My necklace is some dumb Capricorn pendant by Kendra Scott that I found at Nordstrom Rack a while back and felt compelled to buy. It's nicely chunky and came with a couple of jangly charms that I removed. I'm also wearing my Madewell freshwater pearl earrings that are now sold out (but I told you to buy them a while back, so don't yell.) They're surprisingly nice! They do still have this freshwater pearl style still in stock which I think are really cute. 

Hi! I am wearing my favorite basic sweatshirt from Quince (def a more traditional cut, but so cozy) and my Athleta Headlands Hybrid moto tights, both of which I've already talked about a lot. I was mostly excited to tell you about my Rothy's The Chelsea in Wildcat but they've already sold out. Jerks. I will admit that I was a fan of Rothy's flats for a minute but they stopped being comfortable (so sweaty!) so I sold them. 

Meanwhile, I had a bunch of credits just sitting (erm, my link will get you $20 off, I get credits, etc.) and discovered they had some items on sale after Christmas so I bought The Chelsea boots with my credits expecting to hate them. Um, I love them. The secret is, I can wear socks with them so my feet don't get gross. Naturally, that sale section completely vanished but you can definitely find them NIB on eBay or Posh. Or, you can buy this cute version by Ryka or these Dr Scholl's booties or these cuties by Dolce Vita. 

I'm wearing my Giles & Brother fish hook necklace that I've had for a million years. Still a favorite. 

Okay, this looks positively dressy by comparison! I know I've written about my Varley Cleon sweatshirt before (review here) but y'all, it's on sale! Also here! It's so, so good - really more of a heavy top than a sweatshirt and it looks really refined and dressy. I also love it in the lavender/grey color.  I'm wearing it with my Athleta Chelsea Cargo pants (I'm wearing the unlined version) and my Everlane Day Glove flats. 

Final necklace roundup: I'm wearing my tiny Gorjana gemstone necklace and my little bird skull pendant from Paxton Gate. That's it! Three outfits, three...sweatshirts. THEY ARE ALL TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND NICE. I mean, right? Humor me. 

Outfit Of The Day: WFH Outfit and a Review!

YOU GUYS. THE SALES. THEY ARE BREAKING ME.  I had a bad week last week and let my guard down and some stress shopping happened. It just did. I will tell you about it but first, my WFH outfit:

I am still wearing jeans because... austerity measures. Leggings are a slippery slope! These are an older pair of Madewell skinny jeans that I thrifted and they are thankfully very stretchy. My top is the Zephyr Tee from Athleta. It's expensive, but y'all. It's comfortable and light and looks dressy. I also have the Zephyr shell. I love that whole line. Easy to care for and always looks sharp, even if you're wearing silver Birkenstocks. (I mean, metallic makes them fancy, right?)

Quick details! I'm wearing a Target necklace from last year but this one has a similar vibe and this one is the same shape, more or less! My evil eye earrings, which are hard to see, are Lulu Frost and are sold out!  This similar pair are super cool and I LOVE this pair as well. Now, let's get into it. I recently sold a couple of bags on Posh and felt like maybe that meant I could finally give into the Lo and Sons sale and give the crossbody a try:

This is the Lo & Sons The Pearl crossbody. It comes in two different leather variations and a lot of different color/hardware/lining variations. I went classic and got the smooth nappa leather in black with gold hardware. I immediately loved it! It's well-made, looks expensive, and is carefully designed. It's got three compartments (two that fully zip), a bunch of little pockets inside and it holds a surprising amount. It comes with a crossbody strap and a wrist strap to convert it to a clutch but y'all know what I did almost immediately: 

That's right. The camera strap from my little Madewell transport bag works beautifully with The Pearl. I was SO HAPPY. This gives me so many great options if I'm ever allowed to leave the house again. If you're thinking about this bag - now is the time. And, one final thing: 

This dumb Chaser t-shirt needed to be mine because Last Call was basically giving it away. (They also have this one but I resisted.) Yes, it's pre-shredded and paint speckled but how could I not? The minute my last meeting ended, this shirt went on and stayed on. And with that, I am done. No more retail therapy for a while! My new hobby will be going through my closet and listing anything I'm not wearing anymore on Poshmark. One in, one out. Or three in, one out. Whatever.

WFH Outfit of the Day: About What You'd Expect.

Okay, before I start can I just say how great y'all are? The comments yesterday completely made my day. Every single one of you is my favorite right now, so THANK YOU. We shall continue on with a focus on where we are right now. For example: here's what I'm wearing at home:

Yeaahhhh. I didn't promise it would be exciting so this is what it is. I am wearing my sad old David Bowie sweatshirt that I will wear until it falls off me. It's by Daydreamer who makes lots of cool (and overpriced) band tees. This Bowie tee by Lucky Brand has a very similar vibe (oops, bought it) and this amazing Athleta sweatshirt is not Daydreamer or Bowie but I own it and it's SO soft and is 25% off. I wore it in a Zoom meeting yesterday so it's also totally work-appropriate. Heh. Now, my pants:

These are the Headland Hybrid Moto Tights from Athleta (25% off everything right now!) and I've been switching back and forth between these and the cargo version pretty much every day. They have more substantial material on the front and the back is stretchy yoga-tights action. I LOVE THEM. So comfy but also cute and look like real pants, kinda? Highly recommend for a WFH situation in which you want to feel like you're wearing real clothes but also want to be comfortable. My sneakers are by York Athletics and they're pretty cool but I still look like a dork in sneakers. I don't know how people do it. 

Yeah, sorry, I couldn't take it and tried this outfit with my Cole Haan Chelsea boots and OMG IT IS SO MUCH BETTER. I'm also fake-carrying my new Madewell camera bag which barely got to see the light of day before the lockdown. Poor little bag, maybe I'll use it to carry around my secret work snacks*.  Details: 

Look how sad this sweatshirt is! Poor thing. My little wings necklace is by My Precious Studio and my long pendant is from Pyrrha Jewelry. I'm also wearing thin silver wire earrings that are hard to see, but they're similar to this pair. 

Look at that snack-holder! So cute. I am hoping it'll become my best summer bag. One day.
