Review: Everlane Stretch Ponte Crop Pant.

Disclosure: I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.

I got some pants from Everlane! I totally did. I haven't gotten the jeans yet - those are supposed to arrive today and I fully expect them to disappoint me. Heh.

Today I'm going to review the Everlane Stretch Ponte Crop Pant which is completely Marianne's fault. She got the regular version and (months after buying them) actually wore them and discovered that they're really good. Of course I ordered a pair and I chose the crop version because I thought they might work better with boots. I'm not sure if this was the right move, but maybe y'all can help:

I ordered my usual size 6 and they fit fine. These are tight-fitting but the material is good and thick - they're definitely pants, not leggings. Oh! And they have a center seam/crease that's impossible to see in the photos and doesn't seem to show up in Everlane's product photos either. I was surprised by it but eventually decided it made the pants look more tailored.

Pretty much immediately I wished I'd just ordered the regular length because the crop hit higher than I want them to and they bunch up a little on my calves (but they do that on the model too? Just the nature of tight pants I guess.) On the whole, though, I REALLY like them. They're crazy comfortable and I love the big side zipper and plain waistband. The more I wore them around the house, the more comfortable they felt. Detail shots:

I will not be tucking anything into these but I appreciate the lack of buttons and slash pockets. Instead it's just the perfect smooth foundation for my blousy tops to float over. I also love the retro-ish detail of the big side zipper:

This is what they look like with my favorite Madewell boots (mine are from last year) and I kinda wish they were slightly longer. Should I buy the regular length or just keep these?

I'm clearly overthinking this! Anyway, this is my Everlane link if you feel so compelled and I'll be posting my Everlane denim review later in the week. Now, onto details about the rest of my outfit:

My striped shirt is by Grana (this link gets you 10% off your first order) and I love it so much I have it in two colors! It looks like they still have it in stock in a few colors. I am pretty crazy for a striped shirt and it's everything I can do to not order this one from Everlane or this one from AllSaints. But oh my God can we just stop with this nonsense? PS. This breton dress! So good.

My necklace is from Banana Republic and, while they don't have anything similar in a pendant I do really love this tiered necklace made from the same kind of chain.

I carry my MBMJ Too Hot To Handle Hobo a lot but it's a real workhorse for me. There are still several colors available at Nordstrom Rack so get one while you can. My shoes are a very old pair of Chie Mihara but they still make a really cute red mary jane. I also really love this pair but oh, the price. Too many dollars, Chie.

Adrien: I Mean, It's a White T-Shirt.

This was really supposed to be a review for the Grana v-neck t-shirt I'm wearing but, I mean, it's a white t-shirt. You'd think I wouldn't have a ton to say. You'd be wrong:

The Everlane Cotton V has been my go-to for v-neck tees for a while now but I was curious to try Grana's version, which is same price point and both are pima/supima cotton. I love most of my Everlane tees but they have an issue with the neckline seam twisting. Annoying, but not a big deal for me and I feel it's worth mentioning that my oldest Everlane tees (now relegated to sleep-wear) are the softest and always what I reach for first. I haven't had my Grana t-shirt long enough to make a fair comparison on longevity but I'm impressed so far. The neck seam is a separate piece with a slight ribbed quality that seems like it'll stay flat.

They are also a really nice weight. Not super heavy but definitely not thin and see-through. For reference, I'm wearing a size medium because I like the extra slouch. If you're tempted, my Grana referral link will get you 10% off your first order!

My jeans are Old Navy Rockstars and I love them a lot. It doesn't look like they have a similar patchwork model right now, but I haven't been super impressed by ON of late. LOFT has a cute pair of patchwork crops and this Big Star pair is nicely subtle and ugh, Madewell has a pair I covet. I really love patchwork denim, obviously, but this is just too far. TOO FAR. Details:

Yeah, this is boring. My usual BR scarab beetle necklace and my usual Giles & Brother skinny railroad cuff bracelets. I keep checking Banana to see if there's any good jewelry but alas, they have discovered giant statement necklaces. Way to be current, Banana.  I will say that LOFT has some good pendant necklaces this season and I was particularly taken with this glitter pendant the last time I was in the store. It's reversible! And glittery! I mean. What do you want from me?

PS. My sandals are the Birkenstock Gizeh and I am, of course, wanting a metallic pair because of course I do. To address a reader comment from last week on the fug-ness of Birkenstocks: Well, yeah. They aren't the prettiest or the most flattering shoe and they aren't for everyone. But, wearing is believing and my feet love them. Birkenstocks are having a fashion moment and I am EMBRACING THE MOMENT.

Good day to you all.

Adrien: Weekend Stripes and a Grana Review!

I'm sure at least one of you is thinking, "How many striped shirts does this bitch actually own?" and you would be right to think that. But! I recently retired one so there was an opening and I had some credits from Grana (that's my referral link which will get you 10% off your first order). I'd already bought this tee in the burgundy colorway (outfit here) and love it so I decided to go for the navy version. I also bought a white v-neck t-shirt so I could compare it to Everlane, so that review will be coming soon.

The Pima Oversized Long Sleeve Tee (also in solid colors) is everything I want a tee shirt to be. It's slouchy, it's soft, it isn't high maintenance in any way. I'm wearing a size small so you can see that it's definitely oversized. It doesn't have the cool details of the Everlane Breton Cotton Tee or the swankness of this Kule shirt but it's nearly identical to this French Connection top which costs twice as much. I'm not saying you can't go even cheaper - this striped Merona tee looks awfully cute, but I love Pima cotton and this Grana t-shirt is just really good

I took this on a Saturday so I wasn't really creating an outfit so much as throwing on my new tee with the jeans I was already wearing. They're my Fidelity Sola jeans, which I wear an embarrassing amount. They're hard to find but I'm also a big fan of Madewell denim and the high rise skinny in Polly wash look really similar and this pair at LOFT is a slightly destructed version. Details:

I'm wearing my stripes with my scarab beetle pendant from Banana Republic. It's long gone but this more delicate beetle necklace has it's charm and, look, I know this is a pineapple and not a beetle but it's cute, right? Banana also has a pineapple necklace. What is with the pineapples? My bracelet is a modern screw cuff by Bijouone. I wear it a lot! (And yes, I still want a Miansai cuff. Still.)

My usual MBMJ Too Hot To Handle Hobo in Cement and my ancient Frye Emma flats. I love these shoes and they're so done. I should really replace them with a pair of the Frye Carson Ballet but I just haven't had the heart to do it yet. Actually, all my flats are pure sadness but I can't get excited about Madewell's current ballet flat and Frye is so freaking expensive. Eh, it's sandal season anyway, right?

Review and Giveaway: Ministry of Supply Easier Than Silk Nehru.

Last week I posted about the Ministry of Supply pants I was sent and how much I like them. I like them so much! They also sent me an Easier Than Silk Nehru top which was so generous of them, but I had a really hard time picking a size for because, as often happens, I fall in between the sizes on the chart.

I tried their live chat service but got into the usual polite argument where the chat representative insisted the measurements on the size chart are body measurements and I point out they're actually garment measurements. (This happened with Grana too and I wish online retailers would just get it together already because I AM CONFUSED.) Anyway! It's a really nice blouse but I bought the wrong size (a medium) and I'm not sure the color is great on me either (but that's totally my fault):

It's a really nice blouse. The fabric is great - light, wrinkle-resistant and washable. I love the good details, like chest darts and a drop hem but it's just too big on me, especially in the shoulders and sleeves. The small probably would've been a better fit on top but I suspect too tight around my hips and the nehru style really needs to fall straight.

The blush color is awfully pretty but doesn't do much for me, unfortunately. I just wanted the pretty spring color!  In conclusion: This is a really nice blouse (size medium) but it just doesn't work for me. Maybe it would look better on you? I'll bet it would. I only wore it for the photo shoot, so it's basically brand new. If you'd like the Easier Than Silk Nehru top  for your very own, leave a comment. I'll pick a random number and post it on Friday! This giveaway is open worldwide. One entry per person, please.

Adrien: But Do They Spark Joy?

Hey gang! I am out of town this week so this is an outfit from last week. (I promise my next outfit post will feature the new gold boots because I can't stop wearing them.) This was a weekend outfit:

I really need to tuck a little more often, right? It's just a better proportion on me. My blouse is Olive + Oak (via TJ Maxx a few years back) and it's a favorite of mine. A split neck print top is just such an easy thing to wear. This Loft blouse has a very similar feel to mine and this Gap option in navy (and ooh, this one in black) is also really appealing. And of course, there's Joie for perfect, dreamy options.

I'm wearing my favorite top with my favorite Fidelity jeans. They're getting hard to find but the similar "Ace" fit is on sale here and I also think this Madewell pair is pretty close (and slightly cooler.) I'm also wearing my Grana cashmere cardigan which is sold out, but this one at JCrew looks pretty cozy! On to details:

The tiny necklace on top is the Madewell asteroid pavé necklace (it's on sale!) and my beaded pendant is from BR. I'm also wearing the usual suspects: my CLUSE watch and Lisa Freede cuff.

Oh, these boots. They're the Ugg Lynnea and I loved them so much when I bought them back in 2011 but now they feel a little dated. That said, they're comfortable and fun to clomp around in and...eff it. They still spark joy. There are some updated versions that are pretty cute - the Ugg Brea (more sizes here) and the Ugg Cam II (here in black) which are probably a bit easier to style. But, for a straight-up black clog boot, I'd go for this Hasbeens pair. Yep.

I literally just talked about my MJ Kirsten Globetrotter bag last week so I'll leave it for now, except to mention that there's a NWT satchel version (same style family and color) on eBay* right now!

*Not my auction! Please proceed carefully.

Adrien: This Is What Happens.

So, something happens when I have too much time off and not enough to do in the real world. I start dressing like a hobo. I mean, I revel in dressing like a hobo. It comes on real easy and as the days progress I fall deeper into my sloth. On December 31st I threw on the same clothes I'd been wearing all week and looked in the mirror and was like, you know what? This is actually kind of cute and I took a selfie (like you do) which you can see on Instagram.  I also decided to photograph it for reals because why not:

Man, I love this striped shirt. It's from Grana (my referral link which will get you 10% off your first order) and I used credits for it (thanks!) but I'd happily have spent money on it. It's just the right amount of slouchy and is super comfortable. The colorway I'm wearing is gone but is still available in a short sleeve version

I added my favorite gin cardigan which is also from Grana and is unfortunately sold out, but the same color is available in a v-neck sweater. My jeans are an older pair from Banana Republic who isn't carrying any distressed denim right now. This pair is probably the closest, though, honestly? I'm crazy for this Madewell pair. They do such a good job with denim. For a tighter budget, Old Navy has a cute pair or two!  On to details:

My garnet ring is a gift from Marianne and my Lisa Freede bracelet was a gift from Nina! I can't find either online, but this Vince Camuto bracelet is really similar to mine.  I'm also wearing my ancient J.Crew locket which is still one of my favorite necklaces though it's lost more than a few stones. This one at J.Crew looks like a good, if safe, replacement though I'm crazy about this weird House of Harlow piece. And hahahaha if money were no object. Yeah. Whew.

My bag is my Cambridge Satchel Co Twist Lock satchel and it's always fun to carry when I need a smaller bag. Cambridge is having a really good sale right now! 40% off quite a few bags including the large pushlock in damson. If you want something similar but a bit more retro-cool, I am loving this little camera bag at Madewell

My sneakers are embarrassingly grubby but that's kind of the theme I'm working with today, right? They're Converse slip low and I love them except that they only look right worn without socks but I hate how they feel sockless. My solution is Bombas Invisibles which I'm wearing and which are totally visible because I bought a size too big. I have a smaller pair on the way because they are SO GOOD. Thin and comfortable with grippy stuff in the heel so they don't slip off. Yay for Bombas. And for sloth and comfort in general.

PS. Daniel stopped by to say hi. He's wearing his winter tabby striped suit, as per usual. It's NFS.

BUY THIS (So We Don't Have To): TJ Maxx Clearance Bargains!

There are some really good bargains on the TJ Maxx site right now but I can't take credit for finding all of them - Nina and her magical eye has alerted me to some of this good stuff.

First, this classic black Cole Haan textured leather tote?

It is $60. Sixty. Dollars. You guys. It also comes in a freaking gorgeous peacock green but that one hasn't been clearance priced yet (though still a good deal.)  Nina's really great find is this Jojo leather crossbody:

Originally $320 marked down to $52 in four cute colors. That turquoise would be a great little summer bag and I love the bright tangerine too.

There are also sweaters bargains! A few in limited sizing by Theory (wool crewneck) and Vince (long cardi, wool crewneck) but my favorite for obvious reasons is this Theory cashmere cardigan

https://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftjmaxx.tjx.com%2Fstore%2Fjump%2Fproduct%2FCashmere-Long-Pocket-Cardigan%2F1000141896%3FcolorId%3DNS1003468%26pos%3D1%3A1%26Ntt%3DCashmere%2520Long%2520Pocket%2520Cardigan&pid=uid9024-1592032-43

It's $49! It looks so cozy! Yay for gin sweaters!  It's too much like my Grana cardigan to tempt me but for freaking $49 someone should snap that up. I also like this Theory shawl collar cardigan:

It's less exciting being a wool blend and all, but $49 is still a fair price for Theory which I've always thought was a bit too big for it's britches anyway. Hmph.

Finally, because we all need a bit of cheerful bling in the dead of winter, these Lulu Frost earrings, while not clearance priced as yet, are still a screamingly good deal:

https://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftjmaxx.tjx.com%2Fstore%2Fjump%2Fproduct%2FMade-In-USA-Jabrosa-Stud-Earrings-In-Matte-Black%2F1000182500%3FcolorId%3DNS1003537%26pos%3D1%3A1%26Ntt%3Djabrosa&pid=uid9024-1592032-43

Retail price: $195. TJ Maxx price: $24.99. Really, how can you beat that?

Adrien: August-December Dress.

The last time I wore this Aritzia dress was back in August (sob) when I commented that it's really more of a tunic and was probably too short to wear without tights or leggings underneath. So now I'm wearing it all tunic style:

This is the Aritzia Babaton Bennett Dress, purchased via eBay because that's how I roll. It's a really nice thing, this tunic. Made of silk, really pretty and comfortable. I have my eye on this very similar blue silk shirtdress at Grana because it has long sleeves and that color! I also wouldn't mind having something more casual in a plaid, like this Madewell dress. This denim version by French Connection also has it's appeal and Old Navy has a version that's definitely got more length.

I'm wearing my Zella Live In leggings which everyone seems to love and I think are fine. They're not too expensive and they're great quality (and opaque) but they do slide down a bit. I'm pretty fond of my high-waisted Athleta leggings which are similar but do a better job of staying put. Oh! And this has nothing to do with anything but my super favorite winter workout leggings are back at Gap. They are cute, right? Details:

I'm wearing my BR scarab pendant from last year. It's long sold out but there are similar options on Etsy and isn't this necklace pretty? The only cool critter jewelry BR has right now is this snake brooch. Eep! I love it. My watch is a Cluse La Boheme and I'm wearing my Bijouone screw cuff bracelet.

My Andrea Brueckner satchel is also really old but this Zac Zac Posen bag at TJ Maxx would be a very nice similar option and this Gabriella Rocha bag would be a great bargain pick. My boots are Vince Camuto Hadley and they're pretty much gone, but the Feina style looks similar as does the Helyn.

This is my new coat! It's Cole Haan by way of Marshalls and I love how lightweight it is. I've pretty much given up on my wool coats, down is so much more comfortable! It's available on Amazon but for quite a bit more than I paid, so if you're interested, definitely check Marshalls first. Also, this one at TJ Maxx is pretty dang cute. My sparkly scarf is from a PopSugar box from last year and it's really fun! There's one eBay* auction selling it for basically nothing. Just saying.

*not my auction! Ask questions, etc.

Adrien: This Is Not A Gift Guide.

An actual outfit post! I managed to put clothes on my body and take photos of it for your gawking purposes. I'm really selling it, aren't I? Anyway! I wore this last week and I think it looked pretty good:

My wrap dress is DVF and I looooove the print, though I'm not sure if this particular wrap dress is the most flattering on me. This print tho! DVF is obviously known for her beautiful silk jersey wrap dresses. This wrap dress is the prettiest mulberry color and this combo print dress is right up my alley.

But...even on sale, they're expensive. While I don't think wrap dresses are as universally flattering as we're led to believe, they are awfully forgiving and you don't have to spend a mint to find a nice one. This BR watercolor print dress has potential and I love the print on this Liz Claiborne dress. Also, this cute BCBG wrap dress is marked down and so is this one, which is gorgeous. The real winner though is Ann Taylor who currently has a bunch of pretty wrap dresses 50% off

To avoid freezing to death I'm wearing brown/black reversible Spanx tights and threw on my Grana cardigan which I'm sorry to say has sold out. They do have a v-neck sweater in this color, though! For something similar, LOFT has a boyfriend cardigan in a few different colors and I love this cheerful cobalt blue cardigan at Banana. I want all the cardigans, y'all. Details:

My mom gave me this cool necklace years ago (I think maybe she made it?) and it's great to look at but uncomfortably poke-y to wear. This NY & Co bib necklace is similar and probably more comfortable and this one by Giles & Brother might or might not be comfortable but it's really cool! Also, you totally get me, Alexis. I talked about my Bijouone screw cuff bracelet last week but I still totally love it.

Bag and boots! I love wearing a blue bag with this dress because it pops out the blue in the pattern. My bag is MBMJ and it can occasionally be found on eBay. (There's a satchel version listed right now*) For other blue bag options, I think this Cole Haan bag looks awfully nice and this vegan hobo by Matt & Nat is a really good shade of blue. My bargain pick is this cool Blugirl bag at Yoox

Oh, my boots! They're Loeffler Randall Matilde and I bought them on eBay. (If someone can figure out what size this pair is* it's a bargain!) If you hunt down a pair, look for the ones made in Italy. They're better. True story.

*Not my eBay auction! Please do your research and ask questions before bidding.
