Review: Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer.

Oooooh, fancy lipgloss, why can't I resist you? I innocently went to Sephora on my lunch break the other day to hit them up for a sample of Sunday Riley Good Genes, which I'm convinced will change my life because Caroline Hirons says it will. I do understand the folly in that statement. (Does anyone use it? Does it live up to the hype?)

Anyway, like you do, I thought maybe I'd look for a new lipgloss, something kind of fun for summer but nothing too pigmented or flashy. I am attracted to the Marc Jacobs Beauty display like a moth to a flame because the packaging! It is ON POINT. It's so smooth and appealing and luxe. It's weighty and stylish. These things matter! The sales assistant who made up my sample suggested that the Sephora brand lipgloss was pretty good but I checked it out and nope. It smells just turrible and the packaging is the worst. SO, GUESS I HAVE TO BUY MARC JACOBS OOPS.

I spent some time trying to pick a color and after burning my lips off trying on most of them (ow) I settled on this one:

Rebel Rebel, your face is a mess

It's appropriately named Rebel Rebel because if you want me to buy something, name it after a Bowie song. Seriously. If there was a car called Moonage Daydream I would be driving it. I'm that easy. Luckily, this lip gloss is basically perfect so I don't have to be embarrassed that I bought it just because of the name.

The color is described as "blue-raspberry shimmer" which confused me until I took a really close look at the tube and realized there was, indeed, tiny blue iridescent shimmer in my lip stuff. David Bowie would absolutely approve. Anyway, on my face it looks like a berry-neutral in a shiny my-lips-but-better way. Most neutrals look kind of dead and chalky on me but this isn't that at all. I dig it. Here it is on me:

So, there you have it. Am I the only one who buys makeup because of the name? Probably just me.

A: Completely understandable. But! If we want to go super English we should name her:

Or something like that. Just a suggestion

L: Oh that's SO English! But is it possible to be a wee more Brit? Like HRH Beatrix Tea-and-Biscuit West End?

A: Well, that's just silly.

A: Also, it's not...normal for a woman to look so lovely and bouncy 10 hours after giving birth, right? There's witchcraft involved?

L: A. A stylist was involved. B. The best genes in the universe.

A: Oh, I know she has People, but still.

L: I think if you are a princess, you are magic. It's a job requirement.

A: Can we be princesses? I'd have to change my name.

L: I feel like you could keep yours! You just need to add three middle names to keep it regal.

A: Well, I do have two middle names and one of them is Camilla, so...

L: HOW COULD YOU KEEP THIS FROM US?!

A: I'M A SECRET PRINCESS.

A: Oh, and spoiler alert, they named her without consulting us: Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

I guess that's okay.

L: Son of a bitch. At least we were close.

A: We were SO close.

Weekend Outfits.

On Saturday I went to the fancy outdoor mall with Kate for lunch and a little window shopping. They had this photo spot set up (I guess for Mother's Day?) which I immediately decided we should take advantage of.  Never mind that you can totally see the Aldo behind us and that there was a woman sitting on the bench next to the photo spot who was quite amused by our dumb photo spot antics. I have no shame, so here you go:

I'm wearing the grey version of my Philosophy cardigan and an old print top from Ann Taylor (this one from Nordstrom is really similar). My jeans are James Jeans Twiggys and they're also really old. I'm back to wearing my J.Crew locket all the time (this sweet necklace might be it's replacement eventually) and of course my MBMJ Too Hot To Handle hobo is still in heavy rotation. I love it. Oh, and those are my Lotta from Stockholm peeptoe clogs that I talk about endlessly. 

Kate is wearing a really cool white tuxedo blazer from Banana Republic (from 2013, but this year's version is great) and Old Navy jeans. Her bag is a Foley + Corinna Essential City bag that I absolutely love. (Edited because I thought it was the Mid-City. Sorry!)  She's also wearing this teeny-tiny Kendra Scott necklace, which I gave her for Christmas.

Whee, that's our Saturday. We tried on some...interesting things at Banana Republic, but that's another entry.

I know I just asked for recs but Marianne requested Jason Momoa and what Marianne wants, Marianne should get. SO. I should start by saying that I wasn't entirely sold. I mean, he often looks like this:

Which, okay. I am guessing Drogo is badass and all, but he definitely smells terrible. No question. But I kept looking and heeeeey:

Just downright adorable, really. I mean, come on. And of course he is married to Lisa Bonet because who the hell else could he be married to but Lisa Bonet?

Adrien: Banged.

A little while ago I asked you guys if you thought I could pull off blunt bangs and the encouragement was positive, so I just went and did it. (Or rather, my stylist did it. Otherwise things would be Real Bad.) I was more worried about changing my part than I was about the bangs, but my hair seems mostly okay with it:

not at all filtered. 

That photo makes my hair look pretty flat but hey, BANGS. This is what it looked like this morning:

I'm still (obviously) learning how to dry it and make things lay correctly, but overall I'm happy with the cut. I needed a CHANGE, y'all. I needed something different. If you have that urge, I highly recommend just going with it. 

Now, do you straight-hairs have any good product recommendations for me? I'm currently using Aveda Phomollient (eh, no longer love it) and will probably buy the Bumble & bumble Straight Blow Dry (why did I stop using this?) or a tube of the Repair Blow Dry. What else do I need?
