BUY THIS (So We Don't Have To): I Love A Graphic Tee

Something about summertime makes me want to dress like I did when I was a kid: cut-offs, a graphic tee and beat-up sneakers for running around the neighborhood. I still really love a good graphic tee (and cut-offs!) so I went searching around for some good ones. Here's what I like:

This J.Crew tee is pretty much my brain on summer. Yup.

I love a good repro band tee but it has to look old! This one is nicely faded.

Band tees aren't for everyone but shoulder leopards totally are.

This retro pride tee helps support the UN Free & Equal Campaign

This one is ridiculously expensive but isn't it cool? (I am definitely a child of the 80s.)

Madewell totally gets me with this one.

And, because I can't not:

I might need this for my collection, right?

Shopping Report: (Near) Future Goals.

You guys, I didn't buy a single thing except groceries this past weekend so I have nothing to report. However, I do have a few things I have filed under "near-future possible purchases" that I thought I'd tell you about them. Probably no real surprises here but it's Monday and raining and ugh. Why not.

Okay, I posted about this damn Miu Miu bag last month and ever since then I've thought about it pretty obsessively. The price was at it's lowest back around Memorial Day so I am just biding my time and saving my pennies until it drops again. It's just a LOT to spend on a bag I can't return. (Did anyone buy it? If so, tell me everything.)

I also keep thinking about these Everlane Day Glove flats. They just look so squishy and comfortable and I love the bright poppy red color. Hmm. I am mostly into sandals in the summer so this might be a fall purchase (unless they go on sale before then.)

Y'all, I want an Emerson Fry caftan and it's all Marianne's fault. She has a couple of them and they're so beautiful and comfortable and I don't even know where I'd wear it but I DEFINITELY want one in my life. Maybe specifically this one. This is a want, not a need, but ugh. So floaty!

Okay, so you know I love my Athleta cargo pants and shell top, right? So now I'm checking out their dresses and this one looks interesting but is juuuuust a price point or two higher than what I normally spend for such things. But, I wonder if it wouldn't be a perfect hot weather dress? Light and breezy and easy to wear. Maybe.

And finally, there's this little nugget. This is exactly the thing I'll buy myself one day to celebrate... something. I'll know when that day arrives. It's the kind of jewelry I would just wear all the time and never take off ever, right? Right. Sigh.

Weekend Window Shopping: Madewell Sale on Sale is Hurting My Feelings.

I've been trying to avoid the temptation of Madewell lately but they're offering an extra 20% off all sale styles with code ENJOY20 and I couldn't not check it out. Here's what I like A LOT:

These raw-hemmed boyjeans are just CALLING MY NAME. Dammit.

How cute is this with the leather trim? It's $36 with the discount!

Excellent simple jewelry is what you need for hot weather.

I wasn't on board with the belt pack until I saw a stylish coworker wearing one. Now I'm in.

This comes in white and black but you definitely want the red.

Silver sandals are just the thing to dress up any ole sack dress you happen to be wearing.

I always have room for another striped shirt and this one is so perfectly retro.

This one is for Marianne! Definitely an Elio's Mom skirt.

Stuff I Like: Scrubbing, Watching, Reading, Carrying.

It's that time again! A bunch of tried-and-true new recommendations just for you. And hey, if you have anything to recommend to us, please leave a comment below. Off we go:

This Silicone Body Scrubber That Is Life-Changing
Okay, listen, you guys. This weird silicone scrubber thing is a REVELATION. I waffled on buying it forever but now I love it so much more than those mesh loofah things which either fall apart or grow mold or both. Disgusting. This soft little silicone brush gives just the right amount of gentle scrubbiness and dries really quickly. I am so ridiculously happy with it. Everyone needs one of these! PS. There are a million different versions on Amazon but I'm linking the one I bought after obsessively reading all the reviews.

This Show I Can't Stop Thinking About
PEN15 is my new favorite show on Hulu and I am telling anyone who’ll listen to watch it. It is cringy AF but super hilarious and really smart. The two lead actors are women in their early 30s playing seventh grade versions of themselves with a cast of actual teenagers. It takes place in 2000, so there are lots of great references - B*Witched! Dial up internet! Low-rise jeans! It’s truly amazing. Even though I was a full adult person in 2000 I still love the nostalgia aspect and I'm amazed at how accurately they portray the angst of middle school. (I also enjoyed the Fresh Air interview but I’d recommend listening to that after you watch the show.)

Your 2019 Summer Beach Read (via Marianne text:)
"I think I read The Beach/Pool Book Of The Summer this past weekend - Red, White, and Royal Blue. It was VERY fun and I did not want it to end. Also it is VERY saucy." A queer escapist romantic comedy with a commoner-royal romance? SIGN ME UP.

This Backpack We Love That's 40% Off
I posted about this early in the week on our IG but it's such a good deal I thought it was worth repeating. The Lo&Sons Hanover backpack that we both own and love is 40% off! This is a screaming deal, you guys. We don't make any kind of commission on this product, it's just something we both carry daily and it's SO GOOD for travel. Get one! (I have the camo version which I highly recommend. Duh.)

We Discuss: The Only Thing We Talk About Anymore, Apparently?

A: Do I need those AE shorts? How do they run?

M: I mean I love mine! I don’t have the other pair yet, which have a slightly higher rise

M: I sized up one size

A: Some reviews say they run big

M: Honestly I probably just ordered the size I am I just told myself I was sizing up. They are comfortably loose.

A: Well, I ordered a pair because blog science

M: Which ones did you order? The less destroyed ones? I am worried you’ll HATE them and then hate me

A: Oh, I got the delicate version

A: But I could never hate you!

M: You will die when you see how thin they are

A: I forgot about the other less-destroyed ones? But if these aren't good I'll just return them

A: I don’t have super high expectations but I wanted to try them!

M: I will say they are super comfy and lightweight in the heat

M: These are the other ones I just ordered

A: Those look good!

M: We’ll see

M: Cautiously optimistic

***

A: Yes yes yes!

M: YES!

M: Those look cute!

A: I got them in the 6 figuring I could exchange for the 8 but I like the fit!

M: They look great

A: I’m a little afraid my thighs will Hulk them out but 🤷🏻‍♀️

M: Haha see what I mean by how thin they are

A: Literally made of string

A: But yay summer garbage clothes!

M: Woo hoo!

BUY THIS (So We Don't Have To): Why Do I Want All The Camo?

Camo print is everywhere right now which means that in a year or so I'll be sick of looking at it. That doesn't mean I don't want it though. I do. On everything. Please observe:

These incredibly cute camo joggers at Anthro are not even remotely on sale. But still. Want.

Remember this little tote? It's $10! I will definitely be adding it to my next J.Crew order.

Ugh, Athleta has my number. I love this pale camo print for summer...

And this black camo for the rest of the year. Those leggings will be mine.

A friend wore this to a party recently with red sandals and looked amazing. It's from Target!

Also from Target: A very on-trend light jacket. I saw it with my own eyes and it is cute! I also loved this one by Knox Rose (on the sale rack) but it doesn't appear to be in stock online. Boo to that.

Review: Madewell High-Rise Denim Shorts.

Hi all! I don't really have any good shopping to report but I did get my Madewell High-Rise Denim Shorts in Glenoaks wash and took some pics. I have...feelings. I like so much about them but I'm not 100%. I think I just had really high expectations and, as Marianne texted, "I don't think they are magical but also don't know if that exists." EXACTLY. I was putting a lot of weight on a pair of damn denim shorts. Anyway, here you go:

The shorts arrived with the hem rolled which makes them just a little bit shorter than I prefer. It's a lot of rise and not quite enough inseam. But! They are quite nice in general - good denim and an excellent wash. I rolled them down and even though they aren't quite as cute that way, I'm much more comfortable:

I will admit I was wrong about avoiding the higher rise shorts. The rise looks super current and the magic pockets really do pull everything in, which I very much appreciate. They're also quite booty flattering:

Most denim cut-offs don't do much for the rear view, but these are pretty good! Unfortunately these particular shorts are not on sale right this second so I'd wait until they're marked down again. In the meantime, this pair is on sale (and an extra 20% off) and so is this cute embroidered pair. And my favorite jeans as well!

So, I think I'm keeping them. They're a solid, if not terribly exciting, summer staple and I'm sure I'll be wearing them for quite a few summers.

And, because I can't not tell you about everything, my Bowie tee is by Lucky Brand and appears to be sold out. This one is very similar and REAL CUTE. (How many Bowie tees is too many? Asking for a friend.) Lucky Brand always has good vintage-inspired band tees that aren't too expensive or too OOT. Finally, I'm wearing my white Birkenstock Arizonas because they go with all the things. The end!
