Marianne: Better on paper.

Ever since it got cold I've been wondering if I could make this skirt work for winter, and this is my first attempt. This was for a second work holiday party, in our freezing studio, hence the layers.
I don't know, y'all. I was all excited about these mustard colored tights, but I am not sure at all.
Looking at picture after picture isn't convincing me. Though I like the general idea of this outfit. Would boots improve the proportions?
Hot shoes, though.

  1. I don't know, I kind of love it. I love the pop of the mustard against the black and white. I think the boots would be good too, though.

  2. I don't hate it, but I think the boots would add some weight to the bottom and make it look more balanced? I don't know what I'm talking about over here.

  3. I like the mustard yellow tights! I agree about the boots or maybe with a different skirt, you can make it work...

  4. Love them all, but definitely NOT together all at the same time. Black tights and some boots - Maybe. But loose the tights with this skirt. I do like them tho - just not all together.

  5. I think you look great! Do you have any jewelry with a touch of mustard to kind of tie it all together?

  6. First time commenter here, I think that the mustard tights would look way better against a black skirt, the skirt & the tights together are too busy & overwhelming. I love the tights & the skirt though...and the shoes too!

  7. I love this outfit! I think the tights are adorable. I was thinking along the same lines as Lara, though. A necklace, scarf, or headband with the same color might help tie it in and break up the black top. But it looks great as-is. And the shoes are awesome.

  8. Boots would be good, also the top being all black and a turtleneck is big contrast. Add a fun necklace on top (either with some yellow in it or just a big metal necklace) or wear a vneck black shirt.

  9. I think it's perfection. LOVE the tights with the b&w skirt. You look polished but just a little bit quirky (which means nailed it in my books!).
