Adrien: Wardrobe Hole.

When I posted this outfit I was annoyed with myself for, once again, failing to own the one thing my wardrobe really lacks - nice tops. I have a drawer full of t-shirts and every time I try to go buy a pretty top or a fun print blouse I come home with...a t-shirt. I recently went to Banana Republic and tried on this and this and... almost bought this. Then I realized, HOLY SHIT THAT IS A T-SHIRT, DUMMY. Seriously, what the hell is my problem?

I left it there and slunk into my old crazy-sale standby Ann Taylor where they were offering 50% off of all sale stuff and they had a ridiculous amount of cute tops and also some weirdly hideous ones. (I mean, what is this?) I tried on everything and ended up buying this, which I really love:

Success! It's not a t-shirt. Bonus, it also looks cute worn loose over skinny jeans. There might be hope for me yet.

blouse: Ann Taylor Modern Moon Print Ruffle Neck Shell
skirt: Ann Taylor (similar red pencil skirt on sale!)
shoes: Chie Mihara (Similar black CM pumps)
bag: Andrea Brueckner (very nice similar and also a tan version of mine on eBay right now!)

  1. I love this, it looks so pretty with the pencil skirt and I can totally see it with skinny jeans, a cardigan and some cute flats. I'm also trying to break the habit of buying t-shirts instead of nicer tops, it's not easy.

    1. It's not easy! My main thing is that the top not be dry-clean only, because if it is I'll wear it a few times and then commit it to closet purgatory.

  2. I'm the same with tops. I even have some in my closet! Do I wear them? No, I avoid the issue with dresses, which I can trust better than my ability to make things work together. Sad.
