BUY THIS (Because I Already Did): Dr Martens Are Back, Y'all.

I remember my first pair of Dr Martens, purchased for me in 1990 as a Christmas present. The best Christmas present ever! For some reason I didn't go for a pair of boots, I went for the classic black oxford and I wore them into the ground. Then I bought 8 hole boots, then some (so 90s) Mary Janes. Back in the day, Docs were the coolest shoes you could own. And they're back! And still so cool! I am quietly excited about this and it's been years since I bought a pair. So. I just bought these:

They are 25% off from Shoes.com with code WINTER25.  Aren't they good? So stompy! I am hoping they'll get me through a cold, wet week of Paris cobblestones because my regular Chelsea boots are not up for the task. DM has a surprising amount of Chelsea styles and I was originally going to buy this version:

But they're out of my size (I think? Doc sizing is confusing) so I went with the zip style instead, which I like because it's allllll black. They arrived last night and now I just have to break them in. Wish me luck!

  1. What. I just bought my first pair of docs in 20 years this week today, as well. Our ankles can chafe together as we break them in.

I bought these and I could not love them more.

    1. THOSE ARE BEAUTIFUL! They are going to hurt your ankles but will be WORTH IT.

  2. I have those same boots - there is practically zero breaking in, which is so un-doc like. You have chosen well - I wore mine last winter while in NYC and they are the perfect urban wet wintery weather boots. Also super easy at TSA with the zips. I love em. Contemplating getting the red ones

    1. Great to hear! I wore them all day without any problem, so yay for that.

  3. Definitely had the same Mary Janes in college. And now I'm definitely debating those Chelsea boots - still trying to find the perfect pair for jeans and skirts.

    1. Just fair warning, the pair I got are kinda clunky. I love the look with jeans but not sure I'd wear them with skirts/dresses. Check out the DM Zillow Chelsea - they look a bit more streamlined.

  4. I was forcing my child to wait 1 more year to make sure her feet are done growing. Somehow she finagled Tims out of use for Christmas though so I feel like we got tricked into both the all black Tims and now her Docs...I draw the line at shiny patent.
