Marianne: Too Cool.

Yes, it's pretty much Spring, and I bought some boots.
I've been silently coveting, no, longing for some Swedish Hasbeens clog boots pretty much since I first laid eyes on them. But, sadly, the $400+ price tag is just...no. Not happening. Not now, not ever.
And so, when my friend Lili pointed out that Piperlime had these boots marked down 60%, I sold some stuff that I haven't been using, and I pounced. And y'all. They are some cool boots. So cool. Cooler than me, I fear. First of all, I am having trouble thinking of how to wear them other than with this outfit. Second of all, they came with directions that included the phrase "Don't be mad!" Because there is a major breaking in period.
I ended up with only a tiny blister on one toe, but otherwise they were okay. But I still felt a little like I was playing dress up in my much cooler older sister's closet. Am I alone here? Or do you own an item of clothing that just might be cooler than you? Lastly, how would you wear these? I might brave them with a dress next.

  1. Oh, they are cool! I would try them with black tights and a dress. DO EET.

  2. I would definitely wear them with a dress or skirt. If you go with a black dress or skirt/top, bright tights would be great.

  3. I don't know about clothes that are cooler than me per se, but I sure do own clothes that are cooler than my life. I wear them anyway, but I'm sometimes sad for them, because they deserve to spend the day doing something awesome but they're just going to buy groceries. Poor clothes. So I know what you mean.

And yes, the boots are way cool!

    1. Ha, yes! I feel bad for the boots, they should be gallery hopping in Amsterdam or something.

  4. Sort of random question, but how do you tie your scarves? I love scarves and have some fun ones but whenever I tie them look like I have this gigantic clump of fabric around my neck. Maybe a scarf tutorial post? Love your blog (and the boots!) but alas have given up online shopping for Lent. (the savings already are sadly significant)
    Thanks in advance!

  5. Oh boy, I just super impulsively bought myself a pair in the light beige-y color. NO RETURNS!
    WOWZA
Thanks a lot for this post ;-)

  6. I just bought a pair in black - you are an evil blog mistress.

  7. My too-cool-for-me item is also a pair of boots. Vivienne Westwood, brown bottom and straps all up and around a plaid fabric layer. Hurt like hell though, so I rarely wear them anyway!

  8. I want you to wear them with a blousey dress like this http://pinterest.com/pin/154459462189925190/ but maybe not black?

    1. And bare legs? I will have to get brave and try!

    2. Yes! Bare legs. Maybe with some adorable colored, sheer socks.

  9. Love your blog and the boots! Could you tell me if they are TTS? The final sale is a bit scary. Thanks!

  10. Hey Marina! They run a bit small/narrow. I wear a 7.5 and the 38's *just* fit. And I have narrow feet. I'd say when in doubt, got a size up.

  11. My copycat boots came today from Piperlime - love! But definitely needed to size up - I'm normally a size 7 and the size 38 fits, but needs to stretch out (I'm confident I can handle the break in). Size up!

  12. I think I am mad. that seam across the top of the toes HURTS! On my way to get out the band-aids. They are SUPER cute, though.

    1. Ah! I am sorry. That's where they hurt me too, just on one toe knuckle. A bandaid helped, and the next time I wore them it was better. This is definitely a Suffer For Fashion boot. Dumb. But cool.
