Witchcraft.

A: I am amazed at how comfortable my Lotta Peep Toe Clogs are. They should be awful! Why aren't they awful?

M: RIGHT? It's weird, isn't it! I mean, mine should be cutting up my feet and should feel hard as rocks to clomp around in, but they are just as comfortable as my old Miz Mooz with the padded footbed and soft leather. It's Swedish witchcraft.

A: Swedish witchcraft! I believe that's known as WYTSSKRAFT if you buy it at IKEA.

M: Haaaa.

A: It really is crazy though. A block of WOOD with some super-thick leather stapled to it = comfortable sandals.

M: I know, it goes against everything I know about shoes ever.

A: bani is going to be SO MAD.

M: Furious.

A: I've worn them for three days straight and I don't even have so much as a blister. It's UNHOLY.

M: And your feet are delicate little flowers! I'm so pleased. I will admit that I kind of assumed they would leave you with bloody stumps.

A: Well, there's still time. Sometimes shoes turn on me.

  1. Are they made out of pine? I have these exact same shoes, and although the leather tops have given me a few bloody holes in my toes (I have seriously problematic feet), the wood sole is, as y'all say, ridiculously comfortable. I wonder if the wood is soft enough to compress where your imprint presses down most heavily, making them conform to your feet. Seriously, I find myself wondering about this at odd moments--driving, washing the dishes, getting the mail--so I hope you have an insight that can get my mind to shut up.

    1. Huh, I have no idea! That very well could be why.

  2. I was reading the reviews on Amazon and wondered how the sizing is for you? I am a pretty solid 7 but it sounds like I should get the EU37/US6.5?

    1. I wear an 8 and bought a 39. They are right on the edge of being a teeny bit too big, but I think a 38 would've been too small.

  3. Y'all have almost talked me into buying clogs. Witchcraft indeed...

  4. How can this be. You muppets you. I still haven't had a chance to try on a pair...

For your reading pleasure: witchcraft is häxkonst in Swedish - ain't it cool? And it should be birch wood in the soles I think!

    2. You're alright. ;) So today I went in and tried on a pair down town, and you MIGHT BE RIGHT. Perfectly wearable! But the pair that looked a bit like yours were a tad narrow for my boat-like feet, and the other kind they had with a more adjustable strap had some sort of studs that I could feel through the leather I swear so I'm not completely sold. They weren't from the company that makes Lotta's though, a different one. I shall ponder some more.

If I end up with clogs because of two Americans I don't know how I'll ever live it down.
