Adrien: Finally Spring!

The weather has finally dictated that I can safely leave the house without a coat or tights so I decided it was time to dust off my favorite dress and sandals:

My dress is an old one that's been on the blog a bunch of times - it's Old Navy via Marianne and I will wear it until it dies. I always keep an eye on Old Navy in the springtime hoping for a similar, flattering, easy dress but I'm not sure this is the year. I do like the look of the Pintuck Swing Dress but everything else is sleeveless or off the shoulder. Nope. I say spend a bit more and check out the cute Gap dresses or Loft - I really like the Lacy Flutter Dress and the Mosaic Split Neck Shirtdress. It's all about easy and fun.

Just to torture myself, I also checked to see what's new in dresses at Boden. There's a lot of nice stuff there but I think the Casual Jersey dress is a total "easy spring dress" winner. So cute! Not that expensive! Great prints! Comes in a striped version! I also like this Avril dress but it's a bit more money. On to details:

I'm wearing a Luv AJ necklace that I got in a Box of Style last year. I love that it actually works with this neckline. This one by Rachel Rachel Roy is pretty similar but I love this more dramatic lariat at Madewell. My bracelet is Lisa Freede but this one by Vince Camuto is really similar and on sale and I also like this knotted version from Kenneth Cole.

My super favorite Too Hot To Handle Hobo in cement. It's still available on TJ Maxx in two colors (though I question if it's the style I have or the updated version with a zipper. Hm.) I'm also wearing my Lotta From Stockholm peeptoes! I don't have the Hasbeens version so I can't compare, but I've been happy with them. Red sandals for spring/summer is a must! If you want something more dressy, check out this pair from Sam Edelman. (Then tell me how they are because I want them. Thank you.)

  1. I ordered the Too Hot to Handle Hobo when you linked to it last week (been coveting it for awhile...). It indeed does have a zipper. Also, it's hard to tell but I think the drop of the shorter strap is shorter than yours (I can't throw it over my shoulder with one hand which is a bummer). On the plus side, I was nervous about the color (I got the darker one) and in person I really like it.

    1. I'm glad you like the color! I love the faded aluminum. A friend ordered it as well and compared to mine they're about the same size - the only real differences are the zipper and the lack of an inside zippered pocket and cell phone pocket. The handle drop is pretty short but as the bag wears in it should sag a bit, which will help.

    2. Oh good to know about the handle drop, thanks! The lack of more pockets is annoying, but for $200 I won't complain (much)!

  2. Important question: Does the leather label on the sole of your Lotta's keep sliding all over the place when you wear them? I kinda want to glue mine down but I don't want to ruin them. Tough decisions...

    1. It did on my first pair (the black ones) and I eventually just removed them. And hell, I take sandpaper to my Lottas to clean them up, so I don't think you can ruin them!

  3. I also ordered the THTH in cloud gray. I love the color, but it has the zipper and it's definitely bigger by an inch all around. It's 14 X 13; my black snap version is 13 X12. I'm on the fence. With all of the stuffing it approaches Faridah clunkiness. But that is why the strap drop seems shorter. Also only one interior pocket. The shoulder strap does appear to be long enough to wear cross body, but the bigger size will make that awkward. Hardware is silver, which is ok by me. I know it will soften and slouch up over time. The cloud gray is a perfect cool summer neutral. I'm rationalizing the bigger bag by thinking that in summer you need more space to throw in a pashmina or whatever...

I have a mini Natasha in faded aluminum, and it is truly the best year round color. I'm surprised how much i love it.

Re Lottas, I have two pairs (tall and short peep toes) and the leather labels came off the tall pair. I'm currently waiting for the high heel classic clog in black. With all of the mules going on they will be perfect this season and LOTTAS MAKE ME TALL. Yes had to shout.

    Cheers!

    1. Drat! I didn't measure, just laid them side by side and they looked pretty similar. The faded aluminum color is gorgeous! I'm still pretty tempted.

    2. The cloud gray was really pretty in the photos but I was afraid it would get dirty. That makes sense about the handle drop.

  4. That Boden striped dress has my name all over it!
