Marianne: Adventures in Consignment Shopping

So, as I mentioned, the September Shopping ban left me eager to pursue some alternative retail options. I've always been a big fan of eBay and have no issues buying clothes secondhand, so I'm not sure why I never checked out consignment shops? I guess I figured they wouldn't likely have the brands I like.
Well. This is me, eating my words. Not only do I LOVE this dress, it's BCBG, a brand I often covet but can rarely afford. And what did this lovely dress set me back? A whopping $20, and it looks brand spanking new. The only issue I had with it is that it's a size too big, but it's not really noticeable because I just super cinched the wrap part and doubled up the belt.
The sleeves have a magnificent detail and I didn't want to cover that up with a cardigan, so I layered a thin t-shirt underneath. What do you think? Does it work? I can't cover up the beautiful draped and pleated goodness, you see:
I have misplaced my grey tights, so in a perfect world I would have done grey tights and I think a brown boot, but in this instance I was going to be late for work if I tried to find the missing tights, so black and black it is.
And this is not the only major score I had on this particular outing, but you'll just have to wait for the other. I know, mean!

  1. Cute! The black works! Yay for consignment shops! Next time you come to VA, you guys should check out the BCBG outlet store in Williamsburg! I got a $300 dress for about $40! There may be one near you!

  2. So cute! And I definitely think the shirt works underneath. And I think the black boots/tights look good with it, but I think you could also go with brown. So, two looks for the price of one!
