Marianne: Attack of the Ruffles

I bought this shirt last fall in a fit of Just-Back-From-Maternity-Leave-And-Nothing-Fits cheap clothing shopping. I ordered it from Forever 21 because I loved the color, and it was too tight to button around my milk swollen bosom. Rather than deal with returning it for credit (I shake my fist at F21's return policy once again), I shoved it in the back of my closet and promptly forgot about it. Until today. I tried it on and it fit perfectly! However, the ruffles seem to have gotten more aggressive since their stint in the closet, and they sprouted these useless strings as well. Here I am, contemplating said useless strings:

And here I am, much happier after cutting them off. I still love the bright coral color and silk/cotton blend of this shirt, but these ruffles are intense. As the day went on they fluffed up more until I felt like the shirt was trying to eat my head. Not a great feeling.

The bag is one that I rediscovered after organizing my closet. Purchased long ago from anthropologie, I love the dusty blue color and soft leather and I'm trying to remember why it fell out of rotation. So, this week I'm giving it a try to see if it's worth keeping. What say you? Love? Hate? Keep? Sell?

  1. I say keep the bag unless you rediscover the reason it fell out of rotation. The color is amazing!

And oh, for a while I had SO many shirts purchased during the post-maternity phase. It was amazing how many of them were crinkled or had ruffles. I guess wrinkles and ruffles hide a multitude of sins!

  2. That's a beautiful outfit, head-eating ruffles and all. The colors are great together.
