Adrien: Summer Work Wardrobe.

I'm not sure how much more casual I can get at work, but the dress code definitely loosens up in the summer and I definitely take advantage of it:

I'm wearing an Olive & Oak blouse that I've had for a million years (okay, three) and it's still going strong. I've never been able to find it online but there are tons of similar options. This one at the Gap is really pretty and some of the newer lines at Target has a similar peasant vibe - this blouse is really cute and ooh, this one too! If you want to get fancy, this Joie top would be a really beautiful choice and so would this one! Finally, this Plenty by Tracy Reese peasant blouse is nothing like mine, but it is under $40 and so pretty. Just saying. 

I am wearing my new Fidelity Sola white jeans which have been a great springtime option despite how quickly they get dirty. As far as white jeans go, this pair is pretty damn good. I love the fit (they don't stretch out) and the front pockets are fake so you don't have that weird white jean pocket see-through. Plus, they're on sale right now! Totally worth the price, I promise. Nordstrom has the Fidelity Sola in grey (which might be my next pair) as well as several other styles.  My favorite jeans by far.

My necklace is a chain pendant from Banana Republic from last year. They don't currently have anything like it (though I do really like this charm necklace they have on sale) but this Thalia Sodi necklace at Macy's has a similar look. I'm also wearing my Giles and Brother skinny railroad spike cuff and my Apple Watch. Bags and shoes: 

I'm sorry! I haven't changed out my bag in a little while but my cement MBMJ hobo goes with freaking everything. Nordstrom Rack has a bunch of MBMJ bags online right now including a different version of my hobo and the Fran satchel both in the cement color. I can't even look at the rest, it's too tempting. 

And, my sandals. Y'all know. Birkenstocks are one of those things that you can't appreciate until you live in them for a bit. Once you're hooked you don't even care, you just revel in the homeliness. I'm wearing the Arizona style in Hunter leather and there are a few more sizes available here. The more I wear them, the better they get! I currently also have a pair of the Gizehs in birko-flor (my review here) but I'd love a metallic leather pair with the soft footbed - either in silver or copper. 

Adrien: Summery Outfit and Gap Blouse Review.

Hey, so you know that convo yesterday where I talked about wanting to buy this Gap blouse? Well, by the magic of the Internet it's already been ordered, delivered to my house and photographed for a review. MAGIC I SAY: 

It's really cute, right? It's the Embroidery Tassel Split-neckline Top. It's very flowy and the sleeves are turned up to eleven on the Renaissance volume scale, but it's just so pretty. Cobalt blue is a color I really love to wear and I think it would look good on most people. (It also comes in white but that color is mostly sold out.) I am wearing size small and that seems about right. I could probably wear an XS but it's pretty short and I'd rather have the length. 

I'm wearing the top with my new white Fidelity Sola jeans, a birthday gift from Marianne! I love my other pair of Fidelity jeans so much that it's great to have the same style in white. And yay, I just discovered that Nordstrom carries Fidelity again! They have the Sola style in grey which is very, very tempting, or will be when they go on sale. I should also point out that Madewell has new white jeans that look really similar and I've also had good luck with Ann Taylor for white jeans. It's really hard to find a truly good pair that isn't too thin or see-through, but when you do, they're surprisingly versatile. 

 

Action close-up! Like the dress I showed y'all last week, this top is pretty low-cut. I may stitch it up a bit or I might just go with it. Gap has a ton of cute embroidered peasant tops right now - I love the contrast on this one, of course there's an off-the-shoulder version and this one is crazy but maybe in a good way? My necklace is House of Harlow and I wear it a ton. It comes in a bunch of colors and you can always find it on sale - this one is the pave version and I love this dark teal colorway! 

I'm carrying my cheap-ass Old Navy python bag from last year, which has shown up this year in the blush color, of course, though I much prefer this little faux leather saddle bag. My sandals are Sam Edelman "Trina" and they're a favorite. I love the little gold heel! There is also a thong version that's very on sale, but I don't know about that action.

That's all I've got for today. I should definitely keep the Gap blouse, right? It was 50% off when I bought it and now it's marked down to $54.99 with an extra 20% off with code GETMORE, which brings it down to $44. It'll probably get cheaper again but who can say? (Just never buy full price, everrrrrr.)

Adrien: It's All About Peer Pressure.

Well, hi there. So, March is the month in which I will absolutely not be buying stuff but thank God I bought some stuff in February that I haven't shown you yet, right? Got keep thing interesting. Anyway, I went to LOFT last month to return the sweatshirt tunic thing that didn't work for me and while I was there I tried on this top:

When I walked out of the dressing room to show Kate, three other women were like, YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY BUY THAT OMG YOUR HAIR IT'S ALL SO GOOD. Wow. Okay, so two of those women were LOFT employees but I'm very suggestible and it was 40% off so I bought it. It's the Tiled Henley Utility blouse and it also comes in white, but get the crazy red one, I always say. (It's on sale!) And, since we’re talking about crazy LOFT prints, I love this printed mixed media shell and this lotus print dress is right up my alley. And hey, tiny leopards. 

I tucked it in which looks really nice but never lasts for me. I don't have patience for tucking. I'm wearing my LOFT blouse with my favorite Fidelity Sola jeans which I wear way, way too much. I know, they're just really good. This pair of Fidelity Ace jeans are on sale and are a similar cut and this pair (also on sale) might be the Sola cut, but hard to say for sure. Anyway, they're great jeans. 

Just checking the rear view. I like that this blouse is long enough to wear with leggings, but not so long that it's an actual tunic. The only thing that doesn't thrill me is that the collar is a bit wide and floppy. On to details:

I'm wearing the Dylanlex necklace that came in the winter Box of Style and I really love that it's super blingy but not over-the-top. I think it was a box exclusive (off to eBay!) but this one is pretty similar in style or this one at Banana Republic would be a really good option! Dang, I really like that one. My ring is an old turquoise ring my mom gave me  and my bracelet is a sad old thing from LOFT. There are better versions now. Much better.

Eeeeeeeeeee. Boots. Eeeeeeeeeee! Boots! YOU GUYS. My Madewell Lucien boots (reviewed here) were such a good purchase. I love them so much and keep wearing them even though I really should get them zipsoled. I have worn them nearly every day since they arrived. True love, y'all. 

Hey, I finally changed out my bag...to the same bag in a different color. When something works, it works and a neutral hobo is really a good thing to have. Mine is the Marc by Marc Jacobs Too Hot To Handle hobo (only on eBay at this point) but this newer Marc hobo is probably the closest in style. Banana Republic has a few sleek bags in a good beigey-grey color and, for the cheap 'n cheerful option, Merona has a nice looking light grey hobo.

Adrien: Casual To A Fault.

Quick update to yesterday's post: I will definitely be doing a two-week micro wardrobe challenge thing! I'll post an update about it on Monday with my chosen wardrobe which will not include culottes.

Hey, look! It's another super lazy casual outfit. I wore this last Saturday for brunch and a movie:

My sweater is an Everlane cashmere v-neck which has been a really solid purchase. Everlane cashmere is good quality and now they have a crewneck version that's right at $100! I'm also wearing my favorite jeans - Fidelity Sola in Coronado wash. My cost-per-wear on these has been so good that I'm dying for another pair of Fidelity! This straight leg pair looks like a good deal and I love this worn-in cuffed pair. If Fidelity isn't in your budget I should point out that the lighter shades of the Old Navy Rockstar "Built-In Scupt" look pretty dang similar. 

I added a scarf for a bit of color and warmth and I think it helps make this outfit less boring. Mine is from Gap (I think?) but this one is way pretty and yaaaay for blue leopard print. Oh! And how cute is this feather print scarf? Under $20 too! On to details:

I kept it pretty simple with a Giles & Brother hook pendant which isn't available anymore but I do also love this G&B spike pendant and ooh, this is cute too! I'm also wearing my Lisa Freede bracelet which isn't online but this one by Vince Camuto is pretty similar and so is this one by Kenneth Jay Lane.

Hey look, my new Nike Junvenate trainers! I've worn them a few times and I totally love them. I'm also wearing a pair of black Bombas Invisibles (in the correct size this time) and they're completely invisible. The Juvenate is the perfect lightweight casual sneaker with a retro look. They come in a bunch of colors and textures - I really like this fleecy grey version but the dark olive green? Those are the best.

Review (and an outfit): Old Navy Relaxed Embroidered Swing Top

Sometimes my friends ask, "Is tempting to look at all those shopping sites for stuff to link on your blog?" And I'm like, YES. BY GOD, YES IS IT.

For instance, I recently trolled Old Navy for this entry, despite being disappointed with my recent Old Navy order. Hope spring eternal because ON is hit or miss and the lure of cheap summer clothes is hard to resist. Anyway, I bought this Relaxed Embroidered Swing Top:

And you guys, it's so good! Mostly! I should explain. I liked it immediately out of the package and tried it on and liked it even more. The fit is pretty loose and long, but that's what you want for a flowy summer top. Some of the reviews claim it's boxy and OMG of COURSE it is. It's supposed to be. But it's basically made of cheesecloth so the flowy lightness makes it not matter that it's a big ole sack. It also comes in a white/red colorway, which keeps selling out. 

Now, "mostly" part of the review: The center of the smocked part sticks up a little. Can you see it? It was probably not even that noticeable until I pointed it out but it bothers me so I did what any normal person would do and ordered another one to compare. I also ordered the the white/red version because it was momentarily available. I mean, duh. Of course I did. (I get free shipping and returns, lest you judge.) I also ordered these denim shorts in two sizes because this pair was a bust for me. Decent, but too small despite being a boyfriend cut. Hmph. 

I am wearing the top with my white Fidelity Sola jeans which are still on sale! Nordstrom also has the Sola style in a really good grey that are making me insane. I love these jeans. ANYWAY just for comparison, Madewell also has some very nice white jeans but wait for a coupon code. 

This is what the Embroidered Swing Top looks like tucked in. It's so cute! I'll definitely keep whichever version works best. I paid under $30 for it both times, so keep an eye on the deals. I'm wearing the top with a cute necklace I got in a Pop Sugar box a few years ago. This one on Etsy is similar and way cooler and this reversible glitter pendant at LOFT is really pretty and practically free. I'm also wearing my Giles & Brother skinny railroad cuff bracelets and I'm cringing a little at my Apple Watch tan. (The Series 1 Apple Watch is on sale at Target, by the way.)

I'm carrying my beloved old red Epi Speedy which always makes me happy. Do you have a red satchel? I love this Deux Lux bag for a bargain and this Kate Spade satchel is a gorgeous grown ass lady bag. I'm wearing my Lotta From Stockholm peep toe clogs, which I've been neglecting lately. They're great and nearly identical to Swedish Hasbeens for a lot less money. 

It's boxy but it's good.

Adrien: Fidelity Denim Review and Outfit.

Oh, hey, look at me wearing jeans! The weather has relented slightly so I jumped at the chance to wear my new jeans, which were a big purchase for me:

They are Fidelity Denim "Sola" jeans in Coronado wash and I'd tried them on back in July when I visited my friend Ashley in Chicago. I tried to forget about them. I tried and I tried. And they kept reminding me how well they fit and how comfortable and UGH. SHUT UP, JEANS. I found them online and waited for a good code and bought them hoping they wouldn't live up to my memory. Oops. They're so good:

Fidelity Denim definitely look good from the back. Unfortunately there aren't any great sale codes for them but Vickerey.com carries my exact pair and will send you a 10% off code if you sign up for the mailing list. What's so great about these jeans? They fit like they were handmade just for me. The denim just molds to the body and doesn't stretch out. I also love that the rise on the Sola is high enough that they stay put:

And, they're made in America! It makes up for the Old Navy split back tank I'm wearing, which is still my favorite striped top. I mean, lately. This striped Everlane tank is pretty cute and when did they add the boatneck top? Ugh, come on. I added a cardigan because that's how I do. This one is from BR and its wool counterpart is already on sale. (Wool turtleneck, anyone? Kill me!) 

My cardigan is cotton, just for the record. On to details! I'm wearing my Madewell Ensign necklace and my old favorite La Mer wrap watch which I highly recommend. They come in a bunch of great styles and colors and I'm definitely considering another one. I might even change the battery in this one so it tells time.

I'm still carrying my red LV Epi Speedy because it's so cheerful and definitely sparks joy. I will skip the "you need a red satchel" lecture since I just gave it on Tuesday but if you follow my advice you should definitely consider this beautiful Perlina bag. (Pair the sale price with code FORYOU22 and it's a screaming deal!) Just saying. 

Finally, my wedge sandals. I'm wearing TOMS strappy wedge in a now-discontinued metallic denim. They do come in a lovely neutral metallic and the TOMS site has the black/cork version marked down. That's all I got, y'all. Have a good Thursday.

Adrien: It's a Process.

Ah, winter. Gone are the days of throwing on a t-shirt and a pair of shorts and calling yourself dressed. Now you have to navigate a process similar to suiting up for a deep-sea dive. I might be slightly exaggerating but some days it feels like that. To start:

I'm wearing my Everlane Slouchy Cashmere V-Neck which now comes in a million colors, half of which I want badly. But, I am also seeing a regular Cashmere V-Neck which is described as "relaxed" and costs less and there's the Cashmere Crew, which is even less than that. What's going on, Everlane? 

With the sweater I'm wearing my Fidelity Sola jeans which might be my favorite purchase this year. They never stretch out and they're the exact right amount of real damn tight. Yep. I'm pretending that Fidelity also doesn't make the grey coated jeans of my dreams because I need to eat, y'all. And! They make a jogger jean that doesn't even make sense but I kind of like them and WHEN WILL THIS TYRANNY END.  Ahem. Moving on:

This outfit was last Saturday so I added my favorite little weekend bag - my Cambridge Satchel Co. twist lock satchel. It doesn't appear to be on sale right now, but this Cambridge pushlock version is the same size and color for quite a bit less. Also! If you want something similar but not so structured, check out the mini sized Madewell Transport crossbody. *heart eye emoji*

I continued my layering with an great leopard scarf because nothing works quite like leopard to un-boring an outfit. Mine is from Ann Taylor but this one at NR is cashmere and really pretty. I also love this more traditional leopard print and ooh, this one at Mango is nearly identical to mine and only $25!

Bitchface for the coat. It's not a pretty jacket but I wear it a lot because it's warm and lightweight. Columbia is a great option if you don't want to shell out for The North Face or Patagonia. This one is basically what I have but I'll admit this one by The North Face is what I wish I had. Wait! This is what I have but there's only one left in the world and it's purple. Heh. Details: 

I'm wearing my beaded pointy necklace from Banana which has a similar cousin over at Macys. I also like this BR Pretty Tough necklace which is not really similar, but kinda? And there's always the Giles & Brother railroad spike pendant (on sale!) My Bijouone screw cuff bracelet is a new purchase and I'm so happy with it. I'll admit upfront that it's a shameless knockoff of Miansai but I've pushed aside my personal shame and I've been wearing it a lot.

Adrien: Not Very Scary.

Happy Halloween! This is not a Halloween outfit but I guess it's a costume in that it's my basic weekend uniform. So, sure. This is an Adrien Running Errands costume:

Im wearing my favorite super-slouchy Bowie tee by Daydreamer, maker of super-slouchy thin awesome band tees and also some weird stuff I'd never wear. This one is a pretty good Bowie tee and I also like this super-destroyed Ramones tee. (Am I too old to pull that off? Probably.) Also, since I'm talking about DB stuff, this Bowie print button down shirt is not something I would wear but I love that it exists in the world. And! Kate Moss is killing me. And, I want this bracelet even though it's mostly string. I'm a sucker. 

My jeans are my very awesome Fidelity Sola skinnies in Coronado wash. I haven't spent this much on jeans in a long time but I'm so happy I sucked it up and bought these. They're just really good quality and don't stretch out at all. This pair of Fidelity straight legs is on sale and I am REALLY tempted but I do not need jeans. I do not need jeans. I do NOT NEED JEANS.

I needed a layer so I added my much loved Downtown Field jacket. It's actually really good for grocery shopping because you can put your list in one pocket and your phone in the other and everything is right there for you! I've mentioned this before, but J.Crew Factory has a navy version that's slightly longer and has a hood. Super cute, too. And there's a quilted version! (Both an extra 31% off until 3pm!) On to details: 

I'm wearing my amazing little silver wings necklace from My Precious Studio and a leather cuff bracelet from Fisticuffs leather. Both handmade! My bag is a Cambridge Satchel Co. twist lock bag in oxblood.  It's a great little bag for running around when you want to be hands-free and not carry a lot of stuff. Plus, it looks cool. Marianne's Large Push Lock also comes in the oxblood color and it's about the same size. 

Finally, new Lucky Brand booties are getting a ton of love from me lately. So comfortable and walkable, I can't recommend them enough! Also, just FYI, 6pm has the bisque color marked down below $90, though the sizing is limited. I also kind of love the olive suede version. Hmm. Boots.

Adrien: Everlane Fancy-Casual.

I love the jeans-and-a-tee combination like any good 'murican and will wear some variation whenever possible. However, I don't think this combo needs to look sloppy or super-casual and it's pretty easy not to go there. The trick is fit and details and make sure everything you're wearing is the best version of itself. (Yes, I iron my t-shirts is what I'm saying.) Here's what I wore on Friday: 

I'm wearing the Everlane Cotton Drop-Shoulder Tee (originally reviewed here) and it's such a good one. It's got great details and looks more dressy than your average cotton tee. The Cotton V is always going to be my favorite but the Drop-Shoulder is a much nicer option for work. I'm also very curious about the Everlane Slim Silk Shirt because I'd like to have some non-tee options. And apparently the Everlane Silk Square Shirt is getting rave reviews. Anyone have it? I'm leery of the shape.

My skinny jeans are my recently purchased Fidelity Sola (mine are the Coronado wash) and I'm still super happy with them. Sometimes it's worth going for the quality. Fidelity also makes a cute pair of relaxed skinny jeans and a nearly perfect looking pair of straight legs that are on sale.  On to details:

I'm wearing my House of Harlow mini sunburst necklace and my scarab beetle pendant (check out this one by Marc Jacobs!) together because I loved the look of this Boden necklace. So fancy! I changed out the band on my CLUSE La Bohème watch because the grey was getting a little dingy. I just discovered they sell a rose gold mesh strap and dammit. I want that.

My MBMJ Too Hot To Handle Hobo in cement is what I carry when I need something neutral but not too boring. It's just perfect. The Globetrotter style is available on Gilt in the cement color and I think it's a really good deal. However, there's also this $33 stone grey bucket bag at Last Call that I can't stop checking out. Sorry/not sorry.

And alas. I keep wearing my sad half-bald Madewell leopard flats even though they're basically dead. (Look at me breaking my own rules!) I'm definitely hunting for a new pair but I'm stuck between the very sleek J.Crew Gemma leopard flats which appeal because they're not pony hair and this pair of UGG Blyss flats that have such a great, distinct print and look comfy like slippers. What to dooooo. 

Adrien: Fall Uniform.

Hi hi hi. I'm back with another "this is my uniform" weekend outfit but really, this is what I'd wear pretty much every single day if I could get away with it:

 

I'm wearing my Everlane Heavyweight Tee which is probably not the most flattering thing I own but oh man, I love it so much. It's got that good Breton shape and is heavy enough that it's more like a light sweater than a t-shirt. I really want another one and I'm thinking the grey/black colorway? It reminds me of this Boden top that I wanted but missed out on. My jeans are Fidelity Sola skinnies and they've been a great purchase. I wear these and my Madewell coated jeans the most. They just fit so well. 

It was not very warm on Saturday so I added a scarf and my Madewell Beckett jacket, which I never show in it's zipped up state, so here you go. I mean, the (faux) leather trim just makes it, right? This Etienne Marcel jacket has similar cool details but is more than I'd spend. I honestly just love the Madewell Fleet jacket. It's streamlined but still really cool. I mean, the dark metal colorway? That is it. 

On to details! 

My usual Cluse rose gold watch and a necklace made by Eliza Spell, who also happens to be the sister of my close friend Ashley. Eliza also owns a really amazing jewelry shop in town called Nine Roses that makes me want All The Things. Be warned. 

This bag, you guys. I'm sorry I can't seem to stop using it but it's just good. This deep blue version on eBay is a decent deal and this is a very fair price for a NWT in black*.  If I were to lose my mind and buy a new Marc Jacobs hobo, it would be this one. So pretty! But... I like to eat so my bargain pick is this surprisingly sleek hobo at Kohls. 

My scarf! This is from Ann Taylor from several years ago. I also have a skirt in this print and another scarf in the red leopard version. They currently have this cheetah print scarf which I think is awfully pretty but this one at Mango looks a lot more like mine.

Finally, my chelsea boots. These are from Madewell and I love them and highly recommend. Comfortable right out of the box! They're nearly gone on the Madewell site but Shopbop has a few sizes left. Though really, there are so many good chelsea boot options out there. I want most of them.
